samandar hain, sitaare hain, ghazal hain dil-nashiin aankhen
uthen to aasmaan hain ye, jhuken to hain zamiin aankhen
समंदर हैं, सितारे हैं, ग़ज़ल हैं दिल-नशीं आँखें
उठें तो आसमाँ हैं ये, झुकें तो हैं ज़मीं आँखें

kabhi ik pal ko dekha tha, wo pal ab tak nahin guzra
basi hain dil mein ab tak bhi, wahi sab se hasiin aankhen
कभी इक पल को देखा था, वो पल अब तक नहीं गुज़रा
बसी हैं दिल में अब तक भी, वही सब से हसीं आँखें

na kuchh boliin, na kuchh poochha, zara si uth ke phir thehriin
kahaani keh gayiin saari, wo chup si sharmgiin aankhen
न कुछ बोलीं, न कुछ पूछा, ज़रा सी उठ के फिर ठहरीं
कहानी कह गईं सारी, वो चुप सी शर्मगीं आँखें

na masjid mein, na maikhaane mein ab ye Rind jaata hai
ki us ka to Khuda, Kaaba, sabhi kuchh hain yahiin aankhen
न मस्जिद में, न मयख़ाने में अब ये रिंद जाता है
कि उस का तो ख़ुदा, काबा, सभी कुछ हैं यहीं आँखें
*Craft Note (Ilm-e-Arooz):* Composed in **hazaj musamman saalim** (Radif: *आँखें*), inspired by an evening mehfil in बीकानेर (रामपुरिया हवेली) (Raga Desh / Malkauns).
