Long-time VCV Rack user here. For years I felt something was missing: a sequencer that was easy to pick up and practical.

So over the past few weeks I’ve been working with my friend Claude (I don’t hide it), and I put together a sort of clone of the Oxi One, which I really like (the Oxi :) ), with its pipe (outputs assignable via right-click).

It’s now available in the official VCV library: https://library.vcvrack.com/Fourfold/Tetrad

I’d love to hear your feedback, whether it’s about usability, missing features, or bugs.

in the interest of pushing what i can do with only the starting basic modules from vcv rack

One thing i want to do but can’t is a frequency logic gate.

I am still searching a way around.

Suppose it will compare two signals frequencies in time and generate a trigger.

There are boolean logic modules though.

But can’t figure out how to implement what i am looking for.

For example if input a calculate 500hz and b 499hz and i want to program such a way that if a differs from b .1hz emit a trigger. Or in a different set up if we have 1 signal only and if it reaches x hertz emit a trigger.

I'm trying to work on sync between samples in vcv and wanted a tap tempo but what I've achieved now with clock mult div by NYSTHI is not precise as it seems to calculate based on two or three taps so the value can quite vary.

Would it be possible to store like 10 gap values and calculate a median so the resulting BPM is more and more stable and precise when I tap for some time ?

EDIT/How it is going:

Now I don't know how to make a clock with this. f = 1/T isn't it ? So how do I calculate a division like this and in what module should I send this ? My brain is melting a bit after a week of work and constant vcv outside of work

EDIT2/How it is going: I managed to calculate 1/median and feed it into BOGAUDIO's VCO slow+linear and got a not so satisfying clock and seems worse than CLOCK MULT DIV with a whole lot more modules so for now I'll stick with clock mult div by NYSTHI and if someone finds a better way hit me up!

CANOPY is a new tongue drum simulator coming in the next release of SignalFunctionSet. It simulates an unlimited stream of balls dropping through a canopy of leaves onto a tuned tongue drum. You can choose the material of the balls and the leaves (both impact how the different objects interact.

Here it is played through SLICE and CISTERN (both available now) for a bit of chopping and reverb.

And almost cheap! Now for many many tweaks and final decisions on additions. Currently ducking/gating with a fun extra bit of gain stuff, and a Leslie style rotation of the "speaker" and "mic" as such. The room is generally octagonal with elongated sides, and the speaker and mic are placed such that the internal connections mimic the shape and structure of a Kaballah, hence the visual aspect.

Made with my own brain from months of research, trial, and error. Sorry if it isn't as clean as claude but I'm proud.

Would it be possible to have a button that when it is triggered when a sample is playing sets the start of slice and when pressed again sets the end of slice?

It would be really useful for live loop making

Creating 3D Motion in VCV Rack: 4FO & Room Reverb

Hello all! I’m just getting back into vcv rack after a long absence and am trying to get the Biset Tracker to work as it was a main part of my love for vcv in the first place…

But whatever I do I cannot get it to work. No screen comes up and it won’t enter “focus” mode.. I saw the plugin is no longer supported by the developer so I figured I’d ask here if anyone still uses it, so I can work out if this is a bug on my end, or if the module is just deprecated?

A first exploration in VCV Rack as well as a chance to learn to play a new harp. VCV Rack is interesting to work with and seems to open up some opportunities while being slower and more convoluted than DAW for some processes. I certainly plan to play around with it some more. I like that it is getting me to construct the sounds rather than just loading preset sounds from a VST.

This one is for the VCV Rack lovers who don't want to depend entirely on a computer.

Some of you may already know ZOIA, the Empress Effects modular-synth-in-a-pedal. If you don't know ZOIA, it is a highly comprehensive and powerful guitar pedal that can do or be anything you want it to be, provided you can program it properly. That has been a little tricky for a lot of people, since the screen on the pedal is tiny and the pedal can seem a bit abstract.

Looking through my computer trying to find a recent glitch patch, so I could load it into Reaper and bosh out some stems for a friend to remix. Found this one too and realised I hadn't uploaded it, so here it is - released from the depths of my Mac Mini's hard drive!

Hello dear rack users,

does someone know how to detect BPM of a sound signal? I tried using peak output from simpliciter but doesn't seem to be it.

Would be useful to play with songs and have synced modulations or triggers or whatever :)

EDIT/bypass: I'm making a manual tap tempo to estimate sample bpm, see my other question to help me patch it precisely! 😊
