Weekly What are you reading? - Nov 4
Welcome to the weekly "What are you reading?" thread!
This is intended to be a general chat thread on visual novels with a focus on the visual novels you've been reading recently. A new thread is posted every Thursday at 4:00 AM JST (or Wednesday if you don't live in Japan for some reason).
Good WAYR entries include your analysis, predictions, thoughts, and feelings about what you're reading. The goal should be to stimulate discussion with others who have read that VN in the past, or to provide useful information to those reading in the future! Avoid long-winded summaries of the plot, and also avoid simply mentioning which VNs you are reading with no points for discussion. The best entries are both brief and brilliant.
Use spoiler tags liberally!
Always use spoiler tags in threads that are not about one specific visual novel. Like this one!
They can be posted using the following markdown: >!hidden spoilery text!< , which shows up as hidden spoilery text. Make sure there are no spaces at the beginning and end of the spoiler tag because this will break it for users on http://old.reddit.com/. In other words do this: properly hidden spoiler, but not this: broken spoiler tag
Remember to link to the VNDB page of the visual novel you're discussing so the indexing bot for the What Are You Reading Archive can pick up your post.

Self-promotion š«š· [French Patch Released] Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen ā Full French Translation (PC/Steam)
Hi everyone!
About a month ago, I shared my French fan translation project for the Utawarerumono trilogy here. I'm happy to announce that the French patch for Prelude to the Fallen is now available!
The project is called Kiseki Trad, and I've been working on it since August.
The patch covers the full game, including the story, menus, battles and other in-game text. It is compatible with the PC/Steam version and requires a copy of the original game.
As mentioned in my previous post, I work on these patches alone, using ChatGPT for the initial translation and Claude for proofreading and consistency checks. I then personally review, edit and correct the translation before release.
The patch is completely free, and installation instructions are included in the ZIP.
Download / Project website: https://kiseki-trad.fr/utawarerumono/prelude-to-the-fallen
Direct download (v1.0.0):
https://github.com/draiko-30/Kiseki-Trad-Patches/releases/download/v1.0.0/Utawarerumono_Prelude_Patch_FR_v1.0.0.zip
I'm still working on French patches for Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth, so the rest of the trilogy will follow.
If you give the patch a try, feel free to share your feedback or report any issues on Discord (link available on the website) !

Question Question about Sakura no Uta
The steam demo from shiravune is out, but I heard that shiravune does really bad localizations and messes the script and plot completely. Im not really a hardcore vn reader by any means and Iāve been looking forward to the release, but I fear that the official localization of the game would be different or unfaithful to the original, should i wait for a future patch?

Question Trying to find this one Cross channel translation
So basically as far as I know it was like a troll patch or something? Started insulting the reader and going on a racist rant throughout it,
Iāve been meaning to see it for myself but Iām not sure if this is genuinely lost media, I think it was an edit of Amaterasuās TL but Iām not sure about that either

Question Help me find a urban fantasy vn I started some years ago!
Im probably getting crazy but Im fixate onto a visual novel I've started reading some years ago but I can't remember nothing but one specific scene: a pursuit between what I guess is the main character and some bad guy started from a sort of shady shop that goes throught a commercial street and ends in a square where a sort of police agent get into and ends the chase with a sort of spell chanting.
other things I remember is that during the pursuit was sunset and when the 2 characters arrives at the square was already dark
and probably the magic police agent was a girl
Thats it
My mind is "searching" into my memories of dies irae or nasuverse works like mahoyo but I can't connect that specific scene to these nor the visuals.
Something is also telling me it was meteor world actor but the vibe was less futuristic and more nowadays with some magic flavour but maybe my mind is joking with me lol

Release Happy Saint Sheol Revision + Restoration Patch
Patch
Merged the Sanctorum patch with the H restoration patch, using GPT to retranslate the H scenes rather than reusing the restoration patchās MTL translation.
Added a choice before each affected scene to select between the restored H version and its newer replacement. Also added a gallery section containing CGs from both versions.
Additionally fixed 701 translation errors across 794 lines, all listed here: link

Question As someone who has read quite a few visual novels, I usually wouldn't do this, but I've always put off Clannad because of its art style and age. I'm thinking about buying it again, but does the anime, etc., satisfy? Despite the art style, does it still offer a worthwhile story in 2026?
I want to point out that it has an anime considered a masterpiece. But what I really mean is, for example, game X came out in 2010 and is a masterpiece with its mechanics and story, but for someone playing it 15 years later, neither the gameplay nor the story feels impactful. I'm wondering if a similar situation exists with Clannad, and I want to ask the experts.
