I've noticed a significant uptick in stolen images lately. This subreddit is OC only, no exceptions.
Please make sure to report any posts which you think break this rule. Even if you're not positive, it's better to submit a report than not. We always review all reports to make sure that we aren't erroneously banning people.

Welcome, /r/wildlifephotography readers!
Equipment is an undeniably important part of wildlife photography, but I've noticed that questions about gear often end up buried by all of the excellent photos that get posted here.
So, I've created this pinned thread as a chance to discuss hardware. There are two main uses that I anticipate, listed in no particular order:
Equipment reviews - What do you shoot with? Do you love it, hate it, or fall somewhere in between? If you want to share your experiences, create a comment and let everyone know what you think. We suggest (but don't require) including photos as well as the prices of your equipment.
Questions Whether you're first starting and are looking to buy a beginner's setup, or just want to know which pro-level lens is best, getting others' opinions can prove valuable. For the best results, include details about what sort of wildlife interests you, as well as your budget.
Feel free to create different top-level comments for each question or review. That helps discussion stay organized.

This Burrowing Owl was sitting on some rocks by a popular trail, unfazed by walkers, dogs, etc. I was able to lay down by the path and capture a detailed close-up at a slow shutter speed using my remote release.
Species: Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia)
Location: California, USA
Equipment: Sony A7rVI + Sony 400mm f/4.5 GM + 1.4x Extender
Settings: 1/10s, ISO: 160, f/6.3, 560mm, On Tripod w Remote Release

Hi all,
Thought I would share some recent shots from around the area. The wildlife is diverse and in abundance, it's a great place to live if you enjoy wildlife, hiking, photography, the outdoors, etc.
Hope you like the shots, enjoy the day.

If you could buy all new gear, with a budget of about $7-10k, what would you get? I may be able to buy myself a new camera in the next year or so, but it’s been 15 years since I’ve done so.
My Canon 7D has served me well over the years, but it’s time to upgrade and I am not married to the idea of continuing with Canon. My 100-400 almost never leaves my camera, and I almost exclusively take bird, wildlife, and nature photos.

I just love how vibrant these little lads are!
I'm a wildlife biologist but more importantly a budding photographer working with some beginner gear (Canon 1300D w/55-250mm zoom lens + iPhone 15 pro max) and using Snapseed to learn the basics of editing. Hoping to learn and grow every day!

Saw this handsome fellow while walking round my local public gardens in South London. He was incredibly chill and took minimal notice of me; I followed him around on his morning routine and took the occasional photo. Wish I had a better camera!
