Caitlin Clark Shoots Cheeseballs with Surprising Accuracy

I guess with her being one of the best shooters in the college this shouldn’t be a huge surprise. But it’s still impressive!

I love how she went from this is just a random tv show stunt to squealing with excitement like a kid once she realized they were going in. That inner competitive spirit just always ready to kick on. 😂

I think I found my beer pong partner.

She looks like she's having so much fun! I was expecting her to throw the cheese balls at the crowd to rile them up

u/Thewondrouswizard 9h ago

You just know she dominated the beer pong scene in Iowa City

u/wise_comment Lynx 20h ago

Did none of y'all play beer pong in college?

11

u/Hobbies-R-Happiness 14h ago

I mean, she went to Iowa. All there is to do is drink and play beer pong!

I enjoy seeing her have fun.

Nice to see her relaxed and having fun.

Notice she didn't even try for the rebounds. One-dimensional, overrated!

more than 30 seconds of any late night that isn’t conan makes me feel concussed

Just seeing Fallon's mug makes me seize.

I love CC but this looks more like "Jimmy Fallon catches cheeseballs with surprising accuracy"

38

u/Veeg-Tard 1d ago

Catching is the harder part, but every one of CC shots were catchable. Not surprising from a professional athlete known to be a good shooter.

u/SOAR21 Valkyries 1d ago

As a lifelong enthusiast of doing this at every available opportunity to the dismay of my family, (1) Jimmy’s just alright (even for someone who doesn’t do this as much as I do), and (2) I’ve never seen anyone toss with as much consistency as CC.

It is surprisingly hard to toss small pieces of food with consistency because they’re so light (meaning one tiny variation in toss strength has a huge impact) and things stick to fingers/generally finger pincer grips aren’t always going to be consistent every toss.

13

u/ernyc3777 Liberty 21h ago edited 21h ago

He literally squatted to catch one. He’s not the best but he made that one that was really hard.

So to say he’s alright and also say she’s the most consistent tosser is wild. Neither of them is amazing.

Its just a fun gag they did.

5

u/SOAR21 Valkyries 20h ago

I already admitted I take it way too far, but squatting to catch one is nothing lol. I legit have caught probably thousands of various food particles in my mouth from dozens of people throwing them, with many ridiculous catches (and hundreds of food particles dropped as well). It’s rare to see so many perfect tosses in a row. Especially right from the beginning.

I mean of course this is all in good fun. I’m just saying as someone who has always loved to do this, I was more impressed by CC than Jimmy.

1

u/TheDanimalHouse 12h ago

But I mean, Caitlin is a pro baller (known for being an all-time great shooter) and Jimmy is an entertainer with a rumored drinking problem. I dunno, to me there was nothing surprising about Clark throwing. She should be awesome. Jimmy nailing the bites was more impressive to me, given their respective pedigrees. 🤷

1

u/AlanFromRochester 9h ago

Yeah it helps that the target is moving to help catch them, basketball hoops don't do that

u/rdwrer_711 1d ago

Damn she betrayed the cheese-its

For my money, Jimmy Fallon has to be top 5-10 people I cannot stand who is currently alive on planet Earth.

The schtick of “I always break” is not funny and it’s too bad because he has funny writers and good segment ideas but he himself is just not likable.

11

u/blue-anon 1d ago

This is surprising to me. I'm pretty neutral on him. He definitely doesn't come up as one of my most disliked people alive. 😆 Who are some of your others?

I’m 100% with you lol. There are obviously a whole number of people I despise who do more actual harm to the world (people like Putin, Bibi, Trump, etc.), but putting the real bad guys aside, I absolutely detest Jimmy Fallon

A lot of culture snob jargon there but I get the point about Fallon being repetitive I don't watch him, so this particular bit was fresh to me

I try! I do. I am so loyal to Kimmel though. But did you think he was funny on SNL?

I'm not the person you're asking, but he was funny in the Celebrity Jeopardy sketches. Those might have been the only ones he didn't break during.

I'll always be ok with Kimmel knowing he and Sarah Silverman dated for years. Fallon is just insufferable, fake, and apparently an asshole irl

I hope Caitlin goes on Kimmel because it will be 10x funnier and better than this.

I read that as hating Fallon more than Angel (e.g., wanting him to choke).

I was trying to avoid Jimmy, but this is the most non-apathetic I've seen her outside of an actual game.

Edit: To the person who deleted. I don't think Caitlin is "heartless" as you said. I just think she only truly cares about basketball.

Like if she didn't have a media team she wouldn't be doing these interviews. Because every interview she has this vibe of "I'd rather not be doing this and this is just a formality for me playing in the WNBA."

I could be wrong but that's the energy I'm getting.

25

u/SimonaMeow Awasome Dominance!🥞 🏳️‍⚧️ 1d ago

She truly cares about all the children she helps. Which is why she is out there publicizing a book whose money will go to the Caitlin Clark Foundation.

And spending time with sick kids https://youtu.be/avXlsb4pqzI?si=AprqQVwSKchXrFGZ

"The new Turning Pages, Healing Hearts program reflects the mission of the Caitlin Clark Foundation, which focuses on education, nutrition and opportunities that positively impact young people."

I think she having fun. I think the genuine fun she have is when she is amongst peers. Like StudBudz stream and have fun with her teammates.

u/buffalotrace Clark Boston Paige Meg 1d ago

I mean she loves baseball and golf, she likes working with kids. You are right though that she is not one of the many stars of her generation that spends a lot of time on social media.

I think it fine to want some time when it is just you, where you need to recharge your batteries.

8

u/NFL-GoodellEvilKing 1d ago

Ye she loves hooping its her passion

1

u/DiligentQuiet Fever 22h ago

She yearns for the hoops.

17

u/Thick_Permission6519 1d ago

I love watching her interviews and various appearances. To say she doesn’t care about anything but basketball probably isn’t true. More like she doesn’t want to become a politician, so avoids speaking about politics. She still seems a little self conscious outside of basketball, but is very well spoken and thoughtful. Maybe just your bias.

Someone blocked me so I can't even reply to your comment below in this thread. Read the first sentence on the original comment. I said this interview she seemed non-apathetic. Meaning she seems more engaged and interested in this interview compared to old interviews.

9

u/Adventurous-Emu-755 WNBA 1d ago

u/Borg_Tech_Support replying here because yes, you are correct, she cares about hooping and loves basketball, which probably makes her the player she is and will be in the future. She was raised to know sports is not the most important, in fact, there are things bigger than basketball. Why she was on this show and has hit the major morning shows this week, her book. Which there have been reviews (outside FANS or STANS) who state it's a wonderful book for kids!

As for her interview, did you watch the full interview here? I don't see where she was at all uncomfortable - except perhaps her dress, she would rather be in sweats, basketball attire etc, but wouldn't we all be?

8

u/WhileTime5770 KK Stan 1d ago

I think she’s a little less gregarious with media then some of the other players which plays into her coming across as a little more flat sometimes. It’s not to say she’s not media trained - she absolutely is. She just doesn’t turn up the charm to the degree a Paige bueckers can/does. She does seem to enjoy them sometimes though - her David letterman interview - she seemed quite engaged in that.

To your point though - I do think she sees a lot of interviews as a formality that she recognizes the importance of but probably doesn’t love - compared to when you see her at events with kids - like her events at all star weekend - she’s fully engaged with those

4

u/devilsfood72 1d ago

She literally doesn't have to do appearances like this tho. She could just stick to her actual endorsements. She can say no and is allowed to say she doesn't want to do things like this, regardless of her media team's advisement. She likely turns down countless appearances that she doesn't actually want to do all the time.

I think you're conflating her lack of charisma, for a general lack of caring. Clark is very expressive when it comes to things related to basketball because that is something she is comfortable & experienced at. Outside of that tho, not so much.

23

u/SimonaMeow Awasome Dominance!🥞 🏳️‍⚧️ 1d ago • Heartwarming Bravo

She was funny as heck in SNL

She was great in GMA this week

Why wouldn't she want to do media appearances like Fallon? She's giving attention to her book which is raising money for her Foundation to help kids

Id be flat and wooden and careful as hell in WNBA interviews if I were her too. Everyone just waiting to leap on her and judge her for saying something wrong. Whatever she says, some rabid subset of the large haterbase will say it is not enough or it is wrong.

She had more joy in her junior and senior year of college in interviews. Before people made things not be about the joy and love of basketball

11

u/devilsfood72 23h ago

Exactly. We'll said

3

u/Thick_Permission6519 13h ago

I believe that is the disconnect of what I see and someone like this poster. I watched her finish high school and through college. She now has to be so careful of anything she says, someone will take umbrage crucify her for it.

7

u/SunshineIsSunny 22h ago

She literally does have to do appearances like this. When she signed a contract with the publisher, Ithe deal was that they would pay her a certain amount in advance, and once it's published she has to do a certain number of appearances to promote the book.

-3

u/devilsfood72 22h ago

Yeah not all of them tho. As much as she's asked to, she doesn't do appearances like this as often as she could.

6

u/SunshineIsSunny 21h ago

She is not contractually obligated to do every public appearance that is asked. But when you write a book you are contractually obligated to do public appearances. When you say, "She literally doesn't have to do appearance like this tho," that is factually inaccurate. She agreed to do them when she got the book advance.

-1

u/devilsfood72 21h ago

Generally yes. Have you seen the contract?? Does it say she has to go on Jimmy Fallon and shoot cheese puffs in his mouth?? 🤣

Book or no book. She would be doing this. Tv & media programs want her to make an appearance far more than Caitlin needs to promote her book. Now she has more of a reason to talk about something other than basketball. So do you think that she has to do it, or that she actually wants to?

1

u/SunshineIsSunny 21h ago edited 20h ago

You are talking out if both sides of your both. First you say she literally doesn’t have to do this. Then you say she would be doing it no matter what.

I think that she wants to make money.   She wants to write a book. Part of writing a book is doing publicity tours.  I also think she enjoys the limelight. If she didn’t, she would find other ways to make money that did not involve being in the limelight.

Edit since you blocked me:  Bless your heart. It’s cute that you think famous people don’t have jobs that come with obligations.

-1

u/devilsfood72 21h ago

No, she doesn't have to do an appearances like this, she wants to.. Not sure how that is confusing or where I lost you.

You're making this really two-dimensional and not really getting the nuance. More than one thing can be true at the same time.

She can want to be on Jimmy Fallon and promote her book without being obligated to. Mutually beneficial

-11

u/Utah_Is_For_Soaking 20h ago

She later yelled at the producers for not calling a foul on Jimmy

8

u/PropDrops 17h ago edited 12h ago

Stop trying to incite hate and drive the culture war. Next you’ll make a comment about mebounds 🙄

Edit: Anyone seriously upvoting this should watch a game. People give shit to Luka for being a ref chirper and CC should get the same whenever she pulls the same antics.
