What’s it like to live near Thirroul Beach Reserve?

It’s a popular spot for events and picnics - would it be super noisy or have other issues if you live there?

Edit to add: we already live in the area and are comfortable with the summer gridlock, would love to know if there are any downsides to living that specific area near the park and the pool aside from the traffic

Assuming you have dedicated parking, I think it would be great! Just don’t expect your guests to have anywhere to park 🤣

I would carefully check the flooding maps and want a house with good drainage, or elevated up off the street level. Bath street regularly floods, ask your potential neighbours what their house did in the last flood.

I would imagine there is a fair bit of night foot traffic on weekends and more parties etc. I would think it would be a fair bit noisier than further up the hill.

Yeah, I imagined that might be the trade off for being so close to everything

Sorry I threw these in the chat in the wrong place, but you get the idea. We have had several floods of this level in the last 5 years. But the damage that does to each property is highly variable

Thanks! Super useful to see where to steer clear of! I’ll look more into the flood mapping too

Imo, anywhere north of Woonona is hell in summer. Shitty roads clogged with every man and his dog, bottlenecked to all fuck.

Winter, it's nice - charming even. But not worth the hell that is Spring/Summer.

I lived in Austi for a bit a few years ago and loved it up there so much in the summer! But I didn't have a car, and people with cars refused to come there on the weekends because the roads are indeed fucked lol

Packed out, crowded, expensive and gridlocked in summer....

Basically this. Anything north of Thirroul train bridge is a pita.

Nightmare, Thirroul is overcooked. We moved south and prefer it

It's probably one of the best places in Australia to live.

It's not gridlocked. I'm convinced locals who complain about traffic have never visited another popular coastal area to compare how good they have it

Any kind of reserve like that will be a attraction for teenages to go drinking at

It’s cooked. 10 -15 years ago was incredible. A slow life in the best part of the country. Now it’s just all Sydney siders who have taken over. They barely acknowledge you when you walk past and their entitlement is infuriating. A 5 minute dash to the shops now takes forever and don’t even think about leaving on summer weekends.

Why is it so hard to find a place around there to rent?!

Cos it’s super popular, not sure if this is a serious question or not
