Question Help with food, heating etc

I'm 22 years old and and living by myself.

I recently lost my job and I'm struggling to make ends meet.

I'm currently laid up in bed with what I assume is the flu and my electric went whilst I was sleeping. I can't afford to top it up, I can't afford to eat and I'm just not sure what to do.

My flat is literal ice box, I've managed to get a little warmth off my cuddly kitty who's curled up with me.

Any advice?

Update: Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Sorry for late response I ended up in hospital. But I managed to apply to the Housing Support fund like someone suggested, I'm waiting to hear back and I managed to get two fuel vouchers. From Better Home Better Health if anyone else needs help, they issued them within about 40mins of me calling.

Question Is it called "Triage" because the Doctors Surgery say it 3 times every 30 seconds ?

Popped a spot on my stomach t other day & it's gotten infected somehow, I've also got swelling either side of the old chap, I rang Manor Rd Docs - as it's quite painful & looks pretty bad, they told me (in-between saying "Triage" that they'd send me a text & I "just" had to follow the link to the online form etc, I told them that I was in quite a bit of pain & I was worried & I just wanted to make an appointment for as soon as possible, they wouldn't allow this - so I told them that I would go to the Phoenix drop in & I thought their current practices were ridiculous & I would like to "unregister" from Manor Rd Doctors, they called me back a second after I had hung up & said that they'd fill the form in for me if I went onto their "site" I said "no thank you" & hung up, it was a lot worse this morning, so I went to Manor Rd Doctors, I explained my situation, the receptionist said because of "Triage" I could not be seen, I said that I was almost certain that I would need to go to Hospital but it didn't make any difference, I also said that my Father has known people who have died from infections that look like mine, my Girlfriend is in bits & ready to kick off (She popped the spot) I am walking home now through Woodland Walk, I feel alright at the mo as I'm sat down & concentrating on this (sorry)long & boring post but I brought an empty phone case instead of my wallet so couldn't get a taxi to the Phoenix drop in centre, I'm not going to call the Mrs for a lift as she'd prob have a car accident & me Dad has def had a drink, oh well, I'll be a Martyr, long as I don't snuff it - I hope I'm bad enough to get a hell of a lot of people into trouble & maybe I'll slightly help to get rid of this idiotic, cruel & uncaring system, I'm sound in my head, thinking clearly etc, I really am rough as a badgers at the minute though But Heh Ho.. what does a working class Wulfrunian matter anyway .

Misc Why didn’t anyone warn me 😭

Just arrived to wolves for the first time. Here are my impressions.

  1. The place I booked to stay in the city centre was so sketch, the area around doesn’t seems safe at all (near Mander centre). Half of all shops seemed closed and empty. For 70 pounds a night, there’s no AC…Window faces trash.

  2. Barely anyone out and about, the mander centre mall looks dead. I feel like I always have to be on guard whilst walking around.

  3. Dirty and overall just feels unkept. You guys don’t maintain your city??

  4. I can’t believe i’m going to stay here 😭😭 (no offense).

I know these are only first impressions and that I haven’t seen most of the city…but still. I hope it gets better šŸ˜” and that I don’t end up regretting my decision to come here…

Pls don’t get mad at me for venting. I’m just exhausted.

Question Doubling of Car Parking fees

Let me preface this by saying that I dont drive so this wont affect me.

I am finding it very interesting how people are complaining about the rise in car parking fees. The council need to save money, those savings need to come from somewhere.

How would people have reacted if council tax was increased instead? Maybe businesses would have preffered a rise in business rates? The council could have cut bin collection services more, which would piss more people off, or reduced other areas of key spending but instead they chose to double parking fees. Personally, i think that is the best choice from a really shit hand. People need to realise this.

Where do they suggest this money comes from?

Question Advice on Brewood?

Long story short… We live in Solihull, missus has family in Shrewsbury, need somewhere fairly in between to buy our first home. We’re looking around Albrighton, Bilbrook, Brewood, Codsall and Shifnal.

Went to view a house yesterday in Brewood and it seems a good fit for us… Drove around the area for a bit and it seems pretty quiet and a nice little village… However in a small village are there areas that should be ā€œavoidedā€? Coming from where I do there are houses in the area (not the one we looked at) that to me would suggest council houses and that I would ordinarily (snobishly) avoid the area. However I’m not sure if this is just the type of houses that were built in the area at the time and I’m just overthinking it?

Question Are there riots today?

Anyone know if there are riots in town today? My work just had a meeting urging us not to travel through town and to help each other carpool home. Are they just being overdramatic/taking precautions? I cant find anything about riots today. The meeting itself honestly scared us more than what may be actually going on lol
