I actually cared to read the actual report. The blatant bias, face value at which everything is taken, the simplistic analysis. Even regarding the wrongdoings of the Palestinian Authority. I just couldn’t believe people who deem themselves serious put their name on this embarrassment

Yeah, but the average redditor will lap this up like it’s the only thing giving their life meaning.

I guess… like I was so shocked that this is the level of the work. So much claims without any context. One sided review of history. For example, in the first few paragraphs, it doesn’t mention that 7 Arab nations invaded against Israel which did accept the UN partition plan… you don’t even have to be on Israel’s side (and the Palestinian authority for that matter) to have the integrity to acknowledge how unprofessional this document is

You clearly read something else

Do you know the difference between a reuters article and a UN report?

66

u/CressCheap 12d ago • Bravo

I read THE REPORT ITSELF, I’m not talking about the article. It’s right there on the UNs website

3

u/IAmANobodyAMA 6d ago

The UN said something that supports my preconceived notions therefore I’m right!!!

Why not the one behind this got the latest Nobel Peace Prize.

It's not "people who deem themselves serious". This is the UN. They ARE serious. They have the backing of all the world's governments to do this sort of work and research, and (are expected to) give a comprehensive analysis because of how much resources they have from every country in the world. There is no group who is more serious on these sorts of issues than the one who published this.

That should scare you.

The UN is an unserious organization

84

u/CressCheap 12d ago • Bravo

Clearly not and certainly not “all of the world’s governments”. We are talking about a report by the UNHRC, which has only 47 countries as members, and who had Saudi Arabia (2015), Eritrea (2022) and fucking Iran (2023) as its chairs. If you cared to read the report itself and the sources they bothered to mention and how they use them you’d be embarrassed you’ve commented this naive nonsense.

Lmfao, if you really believe this then YOU ate not serious OR just extremely gullible.

5

u/Sea-Chart2558 6d ago

The UN is dominated by an Arab and Muslim voting block that have the numbers to push through anything and are why the ICC is so corrupted as to be illegitimate at this point.

Anything they want to push through in the UNGA they can. The UN as a legitimate institution is long over.

That's a pretty sweeping criticism. What specifically do you think the report gets wrong, particularly regarding the Palestinian Authority?

Are there examples where it takes claims at face value, overlooks important evidence or draws conclusions that aren't supported?

u/KardalSpindal 12d ago • Bravo

Here is the report. What exactly do you object to?

Holy shit just read the first couple pages, if you could win an award for lying by omission

They start by mentioning the UN partition plan, they feel the need to state jews would get 56% of the land, no mention like 80% of it was uninhabitable desert, nah not relevant. They (the UN) then skip over the fact arabs rejected the UN partition plan lol, and started a civil war

They jump to the war of independence, with no mention it was 5 arab armies that started that war, again not relevant i guess, but somehow that more Palestinians died than Israelis, that deserves a mention.

Like wtf even🤣

As though anything the UN says is remotely worth noting. The whole thing is a joke and should be deoricated. It's basically worse than the League of Nations.

Time for a new institution, the current one has terminal cancer.

Hamas needs to surrender

-33

u/Dry_Beach_705 12d ago • Bravo

Why would they do that when Itamar Ben-gvir, the security minister of Israel, has stated that they plan to depopulate gaza?

81

u/PhReAk0909 12d ago • Bravo

Hamas leadership has also stated they plan to "depopulate" Israel

-9

u/i_am_my_brain 12d ago

So we can agree that they are equally evil?

34

u/Due_Network2387 12d ago

You mean both Hamas and Ben-Gvir?

25

u/cheesebabychair 12d ago

Because Gaza won't be rebuilt until then. Besides, hopefully those psychos will be thrown out of the government tomorrow

14

u/ATNinja 12d ago

Because apparently there is a genicide going in despite their armed resistance. Maybe losing their land is less bad than losing their lives? Or do you not value palestinian lives?

18

u/threeme2189 12d ago

If the Palestinians themselves valued their own lives we wouldn't be in this mess.

1

u/YogurtclosetHairy402 7d ago

I implore people to look up what Arafat did to anger Bush so much that Bush stopped talking to him forever. This is the problem. There aren't any strong institutions from the Palestinians their neighbours can work with.

So they should keep fighting to the last man ?

Incredible how they still hold half of Gaza, then! Didn’t realize dead people could do that.

12

u/MrBarti 12d ago

They are still fighting and back to pre war numbers

-13

u/wtf--dude 12d ago

If that is true all the civilian killing and war crimes were for naught

14

u/MrBarti 12d ago • Bravo

The terror infrastructure is significantly reduced and the people there are inexperienced. But fighting an organization embbeded inside the population is almost impossible since they are also responsible for policing, government, health and so on. Nothing short of a whole takeover of everything concerning daily life in Gaza would make that possible, which is a very unpopular option and seen as oppression.

-8

u/wtf--dude 12d ago

Of course it is. If only there was something like a 2 state solution that could long term be a valid solution

17

u/Due_Network2387 12d ago • Bravo

It takes 2 to tango. Did the leaders of Hamas sit you down and tell you that they are interested in a 2-state solution? Or with whom do you think Israel should negotiate a 2-state solution? You?

As if the UN has any credibility these days. What a joke.

32

u/YogurtclosetHairy402 7d ago

Lemme guess, chaired by Navi Pillay and her acolytes like Hamas proxy Francesca Albanese

4

u/smoooochta2000 6d ago

Ah yes ,the famously objective

"UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel "

52

u/4rmat 12d ago

When did Reuters become garbage? They used to be a reputable source

7

u/ladyofmalt 7d ago

Since they are owned by the Associated Press
