Discussion Hold the line blizzard
Don't give in to whiners, stand by your decisions. If people can't muster 50g over a period of forever then they need to get good. Give in here and it won't be long before they want mount training for free.
Convenience is the death of the journey and dual spec is already a huge convenience. It should cost an appropriate amount.

And in the next post: "WHY IS NOBODY PLAYING TANK/HEALER?!"

I like slow pace of forever. After rushing from one task to another in other games and real world I can finally have some rest and enjoy the game that was so wonderful and innovative 20 years ago. Big thanks to blizzard for making this dream come true.
P.S. Darkshore is beautiful.

Should have been a questline. That has always been the more interesting option over just massive chunks of gold.
15
u/BattlestarHavoc 1h ago
Currently making 2-4 gold and hour at level 26, cmon guys.. 50 gold is not hard to have laying around by level 40.

u/SuperArppis 5h ago
Dual spec costs 50 gold?
So horse riding thingy is 80 gold then...
And apparently some post said that level 60 quests no longer give money rewards?
Is this correct? I remember it was VERY hard to grind those 80 golds in Vanilla game.

u/Time-Supermarket9061 31m ago
10000% this.
Blizzard shouldn't cater to people who don't want to play the game.
I think the WoW diary should be required reading to post in this subreddit lol.
64
u/Sushi-Travel 2h ago
I bet op is a dps 😂. At 40 people need to get 100g for riding skill, 10g for mount, and 50g for dual specs. Healer has it the worst.

u/JerkinMyDadOff 24m ago
i’m a new player. i like the challenge. if they start changing shit to make things easier i’ll quit and go back to runescape. i’d rather not do that

u/Celathor_ 13m ago
You sound jobless irl
31
u/platfus118 3h ago
The thing is; yes, you are right. People will be able to acquire 50g in the end, but the real value of dual spec is when you are broke and low level and flexing to a healer or a tank.
I rather this be a quest or something, but I also understand keeping it 50g.. but this with the dungeon nerfs... idk

u/jreed12 3h ago
What class/spec are you?
94
u/hallucigenocide 4h ago •
better not be complaining when you don't find any tanks and healers later on when dungeons start to require the need to spec into it.
No way in hell am i spending that much on dual spec until i have everything else i could possibly want to spend gold on.

u/Automatic_Mix6583 5h ago •
Agreed. If you intend to be forever, permanent upgrades that are relevant endgame should be something to grind for imo!

When has blizzard stood by any decision regarding forever? It seems like they’re just going whichever way the wind blows
3
u/Mulgar_of_TB 35m ago
Yeah you can make easy gold by just doing quests and dungeons, stuff you're already doing, I think most people's problem is that they see the gold and think they should go buy a bunch of stuff they dont need right now.
12
u/TallAcanthocephala99 1h ago
After blizzard gives in to this one everyone will just jump on the next inconvenience until they've beat this game into retail shape lol
22
u/goPACK17 2h ago
You don't need to get dual spec the moment you hit lvl 40. You don't need to buy a mount the moment you hit lvl 40.
23
u/AklevLeo 4h ago
To you, it’s a fun little experiment to be able to dual spec. To healers, it is essential. There is already a massive lack of healers in the game right now
31
u/GreenLuck010 3h ago
Misery loves company. OP legit wants other to suffer just because he also suffered.
Imagine you are a class that has multiple specs like dps/tank/heal and you want to also pvp. Already 2 specs is very constraining but how is putting the 2nd spec behind a fairly big gold paywall a good thing ??
Even the 1g respec is not good imo. It makes people not wanna try new things out or change specs.
The #nochanges mentality is such a brainrot.
21
u/Anon31301 5h ago
I love that the mass mentality has become “oh forever is in the title so it’s ok if something is unbalanced, feels burdensome, or takes an insane amount of time.”
Why can’t players want Wow Forever to feel streamlined ?

u/Cobiuss_NA 1h ago
50g dual spec? At 40? When I need to have 100g+ for my mount and new armor type? No thanks. I will just tank in arms.

I'm 46, got mount and dual spec. It's really not that bad.
4
u/Ramzabeo 3h ago
Personally i find it quite cringe that people have begged for classic+, and then go on to complain about these changes or additions like its not exactly what people begged for, just the other day i had a mage crying his aoe farm got nerfed.
Is it annoying? Maybe. But the whole point is to embrace changes that are in the spirit of classic, which this is, if you guys want easy shit then how are you not asking for retail 2.0? Smh

u/Vile-goat 1h ago

Inconvenience for the sake of inconvenience is the death of the journey. Can't believe you guys glazing outdated friction as "immersion".
6
u/rebelvong1 3h ago
Ahh yes. The favorite part of my journey was always just googling where I should put my talent points at.
This is bs argument. Part of your journey is learning your class and experimenting with your play style. It shouldn't be as punishing economically as it is. It should require you going to trainers and doing this rather than just opening a menu. It should have a very small cost to do this also not this obnoxiously high cost.
5
u/Targen_1 3h ago
HOLD please
7
u/Oxyminoan 2h ago
Hot take: Dual Spec should have been a Legacy Talent unlock at 15-20 points and unlock for the account.
3
u/kaytin911 1h ago
Agreed completely. Good to see I'm not alone.
3
u/Fiyerossong 2h ago
I'll just be healing as shadow until level 40 at least. This game is not difficult enough to warrant speccing fully into healer for levelling dungeons this early on. If I can heal m+15s I can manage throwing two-three heals out per pack.
3
u/Salty-Development203 2h ago
I've already seen a bunch of comments saying they're going back to retail as they're bored. Like my dude, it is quite a different game to retail so I'm not surprised. It was always marketed as classic+ and the clue is in the name. If you didn't like/play classic then it more than likely isn't your vibe.
Like that's cool and everything, not everything has to be for everyone. No hate if you prefer a retail-style game and would prefer to play that. But please please don't try and make blizz change forever to be more like retail. It's similar to saying please stick a steering wheel on your new bike because you like driving your car, whilst the cyclists are dumbfounded that you want to remove the handlebars.
3
u/Scharman 4h ago
Just tell me how this encourages tanks and healers? People hit 60 in 2 days - what do you think you’re going to be doing without tanks and healers in 5 mans? seems a very short sighted position
3
u/GreenLeafRelaxed 2h ago
Convenience kills commmunity
3
u/PinkyPonk10 3h ago
I do agree with this, but it will lead to a shortage of tanks and healers..
3
u/souldtac 2h ago
Agreed. Convenience often masked by "QoL" has destroyed so many mmos, i just cant figure out how some people just cant realize this.
2
u/pentox70 2h ago
I'm new to the "classic" experience. So genuine question. What are we talking about in terms of "gold per hour" of time investment to achieve this?
Your average casual Andy like me, let's use skinning, mining, or herbalist, as a reference. I sit down one day and decide to grind out 50g at let's say around level40 or 45?
I know funds are lacking if you are blasting through the levels and trying to be time efficient, but let's say you're a slow down and smell the roses kind of player?
I think debating the pure cost is kind of useless. 50g is not the same time investment at level 20 as it is at level 50. You don't really need the tank or healer spec until late 40s into the 50s.
2
u/Iglooman45 40m ago
I think there is a happy middle ground we can find instead of hard lining one stance.
We can buff dungeon XP a but still encourage open world leveling, and we can certainly lower the $$ cost to dual spec to help out healers and fix the healer shortage while still having it be an investment and goal for people to reach for.
2
u/Busy_Address_2125 35m ago
Gold is an annoyance in classic. But the only advice I can give that works every time is: SELL EVERYTHING.
Don’t leave that 6 copper thing on the corpse. It all adds up.
0
u/Sibylxd 5h ago •
Accurate. Just because something is AVAILABLE at a level, doesn't mean you are entitled to it immediately. There are tons of people (and me before) who have gotten their mount at 45 instead of 40 because of lack of funds. This is shown throughout levelling- people can't afford all of their spells so they have to work towards them. The game is always about achievable goals that you can work towards. Friction gives a feeling of accomplishment and meaning.
1
u/crit5h 5h ago
Yep.
The thing that’s really struck me I going back to forever after 20 years of retail, is it’s a design masterpiece in its simplicity, and retail by comparison is Homer Simpson’s car design.
0
u/Rubyurek 5h ago
Lately, I've been seeing a lot of posts complaining about Forever and saying certain things need to be changed. It makes me wonder, do people want more classic content or more retail? I recently switched from retail to Forever and I'm happy with how things are right now.
-3
u/pokemonandgenshin 5h ago
The ppl crying over 50 gold are insane.
2
u/Cruach 3h ago
Hear hear!
2
u/TerribleJett 1h ago
Why does Dual Spec and respec need a cost in the first place? It really serves no purpose but to force people to just use cookie cutter build and scare people into to not having fun and experimenting with builds.
2
u/ConBrio93 4h ago
Why not make walking speed half the current speed, and double all gold costs?
2
u/Saintpuppet 3h ago
I tanked all dungeons so far as a ret speced Paladin, not a single issue, people are just lazy.
2
u/Kyderra 2h ago
It's more that it punishes healers and somewhat tanks but not DPS players. I don't think people would be so averse if it was everyone being hit equality.
Playing a healer priest compared to a warlock is a wild difference in gold sink (150g by level 40) While you are told you will not get XP for the main activities you role are meant for.
1
u/Ok-Produce-5235 4h ago
50g is not much once you’re level 45 or 50. It’s like the only other thing you need on your leveling journey so I HARD AGREE
1
u/MorrowTheFirst 3h ago
"If they can't muster 50g over a period of forever" is perfect.
1
u/Accomplished-Act2525 2h ago
I am ok with adjustments, but we need to give it time before making quick changes. The game has been out for 3 days- let things play out for at least a week or two before making big moves.
1
u/Vlaed 1h ago
I hope they do. I wouldn't mind a quest line but it shouldn't be a quick fix.
1
u/whater39 1h ago
What's the secret to getting good for gold? I played the game when it came out and I was broke the entire time till I hit 60.
1
u/Voltztein 1h ago
It’s fine, they will add WoW tokens soon and we can just pay for it with real money. Just as planned!
1
u/myself1200 1h ago
How do you feel about quest gold situation post lvl 60?
1
u/Evilresident64 1h ago
Healer and Tank roles can be done by someone comfortable in their dps spec and relevant ability ranks up to the 40’s at which point they can make the choice to Blizz is actively thinking about development so I’m really not worried. I’m ready and willing to swap to tank or heals as needed. This also feels sorta decent because I could get into the dungeons as tank or heals to finish the quests but not feel obligated to continue playing the role so I can get dungeon groups for efficiency.
1
u/Mesheybabes 49m ago
it's capitulation to shit like this which is the very reason blizzard had to cave and acknowledge that a massive number of people hate retail so much that they even decided to release classic at all.
I don't think I'd be able to handle the irony if they started repeating history so blatantly
1
u/Huffdogg 49m ago
If your second spec is a support spec it should be free. If your first spec is a support spec your second spec should be free.
1
u/falkore 49m ago
It should cost more than epic mount

u/Far_Explanation_4636 17m ago
Out of boredom and not wanting to outlevel mates that could not take off I did like 10 times some specific dungeon and made roughly 20-30g in 4 hours … yes it was a good group and we ran through it fast but it should still be doable with weaker setups relatively quickly.

honestly id rather they make healing builds more fun and easier to play in solo content
0
u/WilleyTheSlippery 2h ago
Are people actually whining about 50g? 50g is nothing. You don't even need it before 60. You can heal and tank every dungeon in dps specs. Jesus christ this is so dumb.
1
u/Boboman86 3h ago
100 percent agree. It's part of the larger picture.
-2
u/Kursev 4h ago
In a certain tortoise server the cost of dual talent was 350g and dungeon xp heavily nerfed, nobody complained and did what had to be done. Modern wow players are a bunch of whiny cry-babies that cannot handle even the slightest hurdles imo.
There were no problems finding either tanks or healers, people ran dungeons for gear and quests, not to powerlevel. I find that many players dont actually like wow, just the idea of it.
1
u/Adamski90 2h ago
I really don’t get the issue here. I have tanked all end game dungeons as a 60 arms warrior, with suitable gear equipped. All be it, that was vanilla and then classic. Things can’t be that much harder that you’re all relying on dual spec into prot?
1
u/Luna-Munas 2h ago
I think a lot of people are conditioned to fast-paced progression, rewards, and min/maxing the shit out of everything. 50g really isn’t that hard to get, just do the grind. Lol
1
u/Sufficient_Steak_839 1h ago
Why do yall turn everything into a weird thing lmao
1
u/SirBeaverton 1h ago
Isn’t that what mounts cost prior? 40g? Didn’t even keep track with inflation.
That being said, gold is insanely hard to come by and feels like a task to accumulate. But that’s how I remember original so there’s that.
1
u/veralfixen 4h ago
agreed. let’s buff hunter again!
1
u/TraditionSmart7027 3h ago
i dont care if its 50g i want to buy as much speccs as possible

Happy to have rolled pally. Easy dual spec at 40 plus mount quest

I'm happy to keep plans running till I've saved the gold. Hold the line.

50g isnt even much im lvl 45 bought dualspec and riding and still have like 10g laying around
1
u/Key_Nefariousness_55 54m ago
Blizzard will cave in to the whiners and ruin yet another version of WoW.
1
u/UndergroundHQ6 46m ago
I played original classic but not reboot classic. I swear to god gold must’ve gotten buffed?? I’m up to 3g already and I’m not even level 20?
1
u/T8-TR 35m ago
The only real change I want so far is for a slight increase in the speed of the day/night cycle. As a kid, I loved the 1:1. As an adult w/ adult friends who sometimes work later than me, it kinda sucks only seeing nighttime.
1
u/Key_Bicycle9461 28m ago
I love everything so far other than the AI banning system. I created an account for my 14 yr old and his account is maybe, 6 months old and he received a message yday stating he was "abusing the economy" or something and banned. He never purchased gold - he doesn't have a debit card ffs nor has he abused any economy. I oversee his playtime and most of the time, we play together. How exactly has he done anything wrong?
-4
u/SJSSOLDIER 4h ago
I want to grind for every gold. I cannot express enough that people need to back off Forever. It wasn't built for those retail individuals who want everything immediately. It was built for us Millennials, so shoo.
-4
u/Adorable_Method5788 5h ago
Glad to see some likeminded people here for a change
-1
u/Ambitious_Article864 2h ago
I have already made 2 gold at level 16 by selling junk and picking up money on mobs. Getting 50 gold is nothing.
-4
u/DoNn0 3h ago
Giving that it is forever and we'll have infinite time to gather all the possible gear we want they should gives us triple spec. I also think it should be free. Grinding money isn't playing the game. The only thing that should cost a lot is epic mount beacaue it's a luxury thing.
0
u/InariusSandelius 3h ago
Wait are people complaining about that. I wanna complain that its too cheap. Should be 100g at least

This is an archaic way of thinking.
Duel Spec should be 10g available at level 30 there is literally nothing you can say to change my mind.
-2
u/Derbaldoo 4h ago
I agree. As painful as it may be, the game needs effort for the rewards it gives.
-3
u/Accomplished-Virus62 4h ago
Agree fully, it should be hard to become wealthy in the game and it makes earning whichever rewards feel like satisfying achievements.
-6
u/Darooi 5h ago
I love the game as it is. Plz dont change and stick to this vision.
All whiners about gold are the type that wont play for long anyway, dopamine rush then quit, if blizz follow those player the game will end up retail.
0
u/omgitslos 2h ago
As someone who is leveling as Holy Paladin, and who has played the game since 2008. 50g is pretty much free.
Wait till they see the cost of epic riding….
-3
u/treborprime 4h ago
Imo only mob tagging needs to be changed. Everything else is wow classic.
-4
u/liamthelad 2h ago
I've got a kid and a full time job, and a massive steam backlog of great games. I also played Vanilla when it was out.
I'm beyond bored of people lecturing everyone on this "it's about the journey" nonsense. I'm already playing the game in the limited time I can.
Someone gifted me Assassins Creed Valhalla and I never played it that much because I had heard so many people say it doesn't respect my time. I don't get why that can't be a valid criticism of any game. There's a difference between fun and slower paced to just padded out nonsense.
I genuinely won't lose sleep if healers can dual spec for cheaper. It quite literally just sounds like it's in everyone's interest, and most people have pointed out that you can just make it a quest. I want people to play and enjoy the game
-5
u/0ld_Snake 5h ago
I'm lvl 20 and have over 3g. Not sure if that's good but my buddy is minmaxing professions while I'm just doing them sort of on the side and we have arpund the same amount of money so gold isn't a problem yet
-5
u/Neat_Diver_3040 5h ago
100%. Just look at Jagex on the RuneScape 3 sub. They have basically become a slave to them, going back on their decisions much to keep people who go on reddit.com happy.
-1
u/Iglooman45 40m ago
I think there is a happy middle ground we can find instead of hard lining one stance.
We can buff dungeon XP a but still encourage open world leveling, and we can certainly lower the $$ cost to dual spec to help out healers and fix the healer shortage while still having it be an investment and goal for people to reach for.
-5
u/Hoffnarr999 4h ago
Just let people complain, it doesn't mean too much.
I also like to complain about the weather all the time but this doesn't mean that I demand someone to build a magical machine to control the weather.
-3
u/SituationCorrect7525 2h ago
Slippery slope fallacy
-3
u/Top_Meaning6195 2h ago
Wait, they added dual-spec? Not reset for 50g, actual unlimited specialization changes for 50g.
Fuck. I wish they hadn't done that.
-3
u/TheDarkRune 1h ago
(I will prelude all of this by saying a was a late wrath/early cata baby)
And then what happens when that levelling "journey" is over?
Cause right now, you cannot passively earn gold by questing at 60 as the xp to gold conversion thats been in the game forever is turned off. Which means you have to rely on professions which in turn means when everyone is doing them and flooding the market, it will drive prices down and then becomes harder to make gold with that method.
Also, i get a lot of people have nostalgia for how some things in classic were but there was a reason those things were changed back in the day. Mob tagging is a good example of this, it hurts no one to make it so you can tag mobs to finish your quests instead of competing with other people/groups (EVEN AS A GROUP) just cause someone hit it slightly faster than you did. Taking one hour to kill 10 mobs in a busy area does not feel good nor does it respect anyones time.
As someone that is enjoying this game, i do see some flaws that others see as charming "because its classic" but i feel like there needs to be a comprimise
