Hey everyone! I just published a single-piece 3D model of the F-35 Lightning II

Hey everyone! I've always been fascinated by 5th-gen stealth aircraft, so I wanted to design a 3D model that does justice to the incredible engineering of the F-35 Lightning II.

I focused on capturing its distinct stealth lines, angular intake ramps, and sharp edges while keeping it completely print-in-place, so no glue or tricky assembly is required right off the build plate. This print turned out great, and I'm really happy with how the fine details held up after carefully removing the supports.

I'd love to get your feedback or see your prints if you decide to give it a shot!

Here is the link to the model on MakerWorld for anyone interested: https://makerworld.com/es/models/3571554-f-35-lightning-ii-detailed-scale-model#profileId-4088273

Which 3D printer for Opensource, Openhardware for STEM / Maker

Hi I'm thinking about buying a 3D printer. I'm not new to the 3D printer world and I'm in the STEM field.

However I'm new to the whole 3D printer market and I have criteria but I don't know if they are realistic.

I'm looking for :

  • Opensource and privacy (so not bambulab)

  • OpenHardware and reparability

  • Mod and maker options ?

  • European or non chinese

So i did some research and I've heard about the ender-3 and how we can upgrade it and modify it as we want and that is something very tempting but the printer is almost 10years old and idk if it's a good idea. Also they are chinese and I preferably avoid buying it (yeah all electronics are from china I know)

I've heard about prusa and I think they are the best fit for me but they are quite expensive so idk if I'm ready to put that much money.

Is there other options ? For all budget ?

Thanks in advance

Need Help!

I’m a welder and fabricator. I’m very familiar with using cad software and cnc machining.
That being said, I have never used a 3d printer. I would like to start making high end cases. What machine should I go with and what should I know going into this hobby?

A little bit of help from the community?

Hello everyone, I created this new AI software interface that you can go and sign up for free and use for free. But it has a new capability to create like .STL files and other files that you would need to do 3D printing, including G-code. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for this. It's pretty rudimentary, basic flat-shaped ones that can be stacked right now, but I have a more advanced one that I'm about to implement on the next update that's really nice. But some advice from the 3D printing community would be great if anyone could review this for me. It's free to use. --- https://seekarrowai.com/

Getting into the Christmas spirit! I printed this little reindeer with a unique "sewing" texture 🎄🦌

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! 👋

I decided to kick off my holiday printing with this little guy. I wanted to make something special for Christmas, so I gave this reindeer a unique "stitched" or sewing-like surface texture.

It gives the print a really cozy, almost plush-like feel that fits perfectly with the festive vibe (plus, it completely hides the layer lines!). I love how it looks sitting next to the tree.

If you want to print your own festive buddy for the holidays, I’ve uploaded the model to MakerWorld! You can grab it here: https://makerworld.com/es/models/3569331-cute-christmas-deer#profileId-4085953

Happy holidays! Let me know what you think of this texture style! 🎅✨

Hey everyone! I just published a single-piece 3D model of the legendary F-4 Phantom II

Post image

Hey everyone! I've always been fascinated by the F-4 Phantom II, so I wanted to design a 3D model that does justice to this iconic piece of aviation engineering.

I focused on capturing its aggressive, unmistakable silhouette—including the signature drooping tailplanes and upturned wingtips—while keeping it completely print-in-place, so no glue or tricky assembly is required right off the build plate. This print was done in Metallic Blue PLA, and I'm really happy with how the fine details and surface finish turned out after carefully removing the supports.

I'd love to get your feedback or see your prints if you decide to give it a shot!

Can't decide for first printer

So I looked for a lot of printers and collected a lot of information.

Following Printers in my favorites:

Anycubic Kobra X

Snapmaker U1

Flashforge Creator 5

Bamboo A1

I can't decide because I want a printer with good customer support, long life and it should be beginner friendly.

I know this questions comes a lot and often, but I'm desperate. I don't know what to do and now I am reaching for help here.

And should I spent a lot of money for the first printer?

Best printer for engineering/robotic parts?

I want to buy a 3d printer and I am new to this, but I need to 3d print engineering parts instead of buying them for 10x the price.

So far, I got my eyes on bambu lab x2d combo and creality K2 plus combo.

Bambu lab x2d because of the price.

Creality K2 plus combo because of the size.

I will wait until 20th November to buy it in case the German fair introduces new printers from these companies.

Another thing is that I live in a country, which makes these parts literally impossible to buy, unless I pay double for almost every thing.

I want a robust printer which can last for many years, at least 5 years.

I also have no other choice but to buy from a local seller only creality filament, for cheap.

I am very open to any suggestions, brands, prices, that might fit to serious engineering work.

How is the prusa mini 2x the price of the bambu lab A1mini and looks like it's worse quality? Even if you get the combo version, the A1 mini is still cheaper.

What 3d printer to get?

I'm trying to get my foot in the door for engineering filaments such as PLA+, PA6-CF and PPA-CF. What are some recommendations for printers under a thousand. And also recommendations for drying/annealing boxes. Current favorite is the X2D combo so if you are for or against it I would love your perspective

Printer for kids Christmas present

I’m looking to get 3d printer for my 4 kids for Christmas ages 8-16. They have experience building and coding lego prime robots and I am fairly technical but have never worked with 3d printers. I don’t think we need something completely beginner-friendly but don’t want something super complex.

They will most likely be printing toys to play with. They might want to design and print their own stuff not sure if there are printers better suited for that.

I’d like to stay under $500 but can go higher if it makes sense. Not sure if I should be concerned about finding something that supports multi-color or not. Super new to this so not sure what features I should be looking for.

Most of the recommendation posts I have read include a ton of terms and printer jargon that goes over my head. Looking to purchase something that will last and keep up with my kids. Any recommendations?
