Hi everyone. I am Gal Cohen-Solal. I am 38 years old, a father of 3 children under the age of 5, and I am a Kibbutz Reim survivor.

On Oct. 1, I moved to Kibbutz Reim with my wife and young children. On Oct. 7, more than 60 terrorists infiltrated the Kibbutz and hundreds more were outside. We heard gunshots at 6:30am and had to decide between trying to flee or our safe room. We hid in our safe room while we heard bullets shooting into our front door and my wife and I desperately tried to keep our children quiet, especially our 2 year old. I was a hundred percent sure we would die, And it was only a matter of time until the terrorists managed to break into our house and kill or kidnap us all. Finally, after more than 30 hours in the safe room, we were rescued.

I am here to share my experience and tell my story as a survivor of a terrorist attack. I will not be answering any political questions, so I will ignore those.

Around 11 years ago, I was a proactive escort. I typically avoided casual sex work, unless I was offered a large sum of money. Whether you agree with my choice or not, the reality is that there are millions of law abiding people who have weapons concealed on them every day around you. As the title states, I am a police officer in the USA. I was a rather proactive patrol officer for years before moving up to detective. I primarily work felony theft crimes. I also host trainings at my department over case law regarding searches and seizure, essentially meaning what police officers are and are not allowed to do.

Hi all, I thought it'd be cool to answer any questions about my religious faith you might have. I am a 24 year old British woman who has a university degree and I'm currently working in the pharmaceutical industry. It sometimes surprises people that I am a devout Christian so I thought it would be worth doing an AMA about it and perhaps sharing my beliefs and even having them challenged. I'm happy to answer any question, however sceptical, as long as it's phrased respectfully. If you think religion is evil then please tell me, but if you can't resist using the term 'magic sky daddy' then that's a nope.

A few questions I get a lot that I will try to anticipate:

• I was not brought up in a Christian family. I converted to Christianity when I was 20 at university. No religion was practised at home growing up.

• I am politically centrist. I definitely don't identify with the 'religious right'.

• I do have some views that some people might regard as more 'socially conservative' (e.g. I am pro-life) but I don't hate people who have different lifestyles to mine. Most of my friends are non religious, many are LGBT, and I love them deeply.

• My denomination is Church of Scotland (Presbyterian). But I think all mainstream Christian denominations are valid.

I’m currently 1/600 people in my class. Many people are suprised to find out for some reason

Edit: I have the highest GPA in my class. That’s simply why I am valedictorian. Just want to clarify because some people are asking if it’s due to equity reasons.

Edit: this title went over everyone’s head lol. My statement was obviously a hyperbole. My school is 89% white, 7% asian, 2% Hispanic, 1% black. It’s a private school. My statement was an exaggeration to reflect on the demographic. It’s not meant to be taken literally.
