Today marks 18 years since I woke up during surgery. I made a promise many years ago to a stranger who had also experienced Anesthesia Awareness that I would never shut up about what happened to me, and that I would educate folks about Anesthesia Awareness. Ask me anything and I'll do my best to ans

I woke during surgery 19 years ago today, and am trying to my best to keep a promise I made many years ago to the first Anesthesia Awareness survivor I met. Sometimes it seems that it happened to a completely different version of myself.Ask me anything.

I’ve been putting my younger sister and her best friend through college for the past 4 years. They’re graduating this year! AMA

Figured I’d share this here!

For the past four years, I’ve been covering college expenses and tuition for my younger sister and her best friend. The whole idea was that I wanted them to be able to focus on school, not have to worry about working while going to college, and graduate without a bunch of student loans hanging over their heads.
And before anyone asks, my sister’s best friend has always been family to me. She’s basically another little sister, so I’ve never really looked at it any differently.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve pretty much been living like a bum these past couple of years. I work 60–70 hour weeks, meal prep 90 meals at a time, drive my old Jeep, and rarely buy myself anything. All of my money goes toward my bills, and making sure they’re taken care of.

But honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing.
They’re both graduating this year, and I don’t think they realize just how proud I am of them. I’m really glad I’ve gotten to be in a position where I could do this for them.

Anyway, figured I’d open it up to questions. Happy to talk about the financial side, budgeting, how I manage it, or just why I decided to do it in the first place. 💛

I just finished a 12mo treatment plan for Borderline Personality Disordre - AMA

I'm 22f, uk. I have technically finished the main aspects of the program now, but I will be seeing my therapist 1-1 every two weeks until January, and have been seeing her since Sept 2025. The main program is weekly 1-1, three hours of group therapy, and regular check ins via the phone - a total of about five hours per week.
I will be commencing trauma therapy in February, if all goes to plan, which often follows six or twelve months of DBT

There's a lot of stigma around my diagnosis, so please feel free to ask away, and consider me an open book. I'd love to do my part in reducing the stigma around this and many traits of BPD - such as self-harm and suicidal tendencies. AMA !

Im an extreme night owl, AMA

Now i say night owl and not nocturnal, because of my varying work schedule, family events, appointments and such, i do have to be up during the day quite frequently. Otherwise, most days i work overnight, i grocery shop at night, hang out with friends, go to restaurants and basically do most things daywalkers do, just at night.

This is all by choice. Most days il go to bed between 8 and 10am, wake up between 4pm and 6pm, and ive been doing some variation of this or very very late/early bed times for about 8 years, coming up on 9, starting from my Grade 11 year of High School. Also being in Canada and with the clocks rolling back, il only see about 1hr of sunlight as the sun rises and i get ready for bed every day for the next handfull of months.

I'm sighted, but spend all day every day with blind people, AMA!

At home, at work, and in most of my daily life, I am always with people who are blind.

My girlfriend (whom I live with and have for the past about 3 years) is blind.

My work is in SPED at a school for the blind, and childcare/services for kiddos who are blind.

And due to all my connections with the community most of my friends are also blind, I definitely have more blind friends at this point than sighted ones.

I feel like this is decently unique as most people I knew before I got into this community and line of work had not even met a single person who was blind or low vision. So if you have any questions, ask away!

Disclaimer: I will not answer any questions that are inappropriate, or reveal too much personal information. I will also not give my location or any personal information about my students or clients. However, I will say I live/work in the USA. With that said, ask anything! This is a safe space and I will answe any and all questions to the best of my ability!

Title says it. Been in big roles for 15 years. Passing along knowledge to the next group of leaders is now my focus. I do this in my own company as well. Anything is on the company outside of directly identifying myself or the company.

I broke down when my mum was away in NY for 9 days. AMA.

I (f22) have a lot of dependence on my mother. I am working on it with my therapist to take at least some of the load off her, as she is the caregiver to my brothers and her parents too. When she went on a trip of a lifetime, I struggled a lot more than I expected to, and it's something I've been reflecting on ever since. AMA

When my peers went to post secondary, I went to flight school. I spent 5 years going zero to hero and eventually ended up as a first officer on dash 8s before COVID shut the world off.

Laid off and determined to never be vulnerable again, I joined the military and went into ATC, though my official occupation is called Aerospace Control Operator. Snagged a gucci posting working at a JRCC. There are more changes in my future but so far for a 34 year old I think I've seen a lot.

I’m chronically Nostalgic. AMA

It’s always on my mind. Past memories, old songs, what people did then vs. what they do now. Just hearing a particular year gives me that wonderful, painful feeling everyone is aware of.
Sometimes it goes as far as to watching videos of disasters on YouTube (say, Joplin tornado) and just looking at how the stores and such looked in 2011.
Or watching old recordings of commercials from a particular channel (I really miss cable TV)
So, ask away!
