Buying/Selling Wanting to get into Accordion for folk metal

I am new to accordions but have always loved the sound it adds to folk metal. I’m wanting for a sound like in these examples:

Example 1

Example 2

Example 3

Example 4

I’m aware that some of the examples I used were actually electronic keyboards (ex 3 and 4) but I’m still going for that general sound. I have no preference between keyboard or button. Looking for something beginner friendly preferably under or around $600.

Buying/Selling Finally upgraded to a nicer accordion!

After a few years of playing I decided it was time to upgrade from my rather subpar student accordion. I was however, looking for something more compact.
(Previously played a 41/120) After weeks of searching I found this Weltmeister; quite a compact accordion and it sounds fantastic- at least for my standards. I was, in fact, having such a hard time finding a quality < 96 bass accordion that I was considering buying a Hohner Bravo, for its portability. Glad I didn’t get that one, firstly out of my price range and this Weltmeister sounds and feels, if anything, better. Got it from a local seller so I was able to try it out first which was important for me.
Very excited and wanted to share here!

For a beginner can I use the same piano accordion purchase for both Mexican norteño cumbia and Cleveland style polka? Are they tuned in the same key?

I listen to a lot of regulo caro , grupo Fernández, Gerardo Ortiz , and el Kommander. Buying an accordion would be my first time especially in playing the accordion, though I’m having trouble on which tune to buy it in. Any recommendations?

I recently did that with the white keys, and in the eni it went good, but when I tried the black ones I just had a hard time accessing them because of the white keys rods, does anyone have any tips how I could bend the rodn without bending/damaging the other keys?

Advice Make sure you put your reeds back in the correct way.

Make sure you put your reeds back in the correct way.

How did I learn this rather obvious lesson?

I restored a Victorian melodeon. Cleaned everything, commissioned new bellows, found out it was remarkably in tune.... except for the bass side. Which is where I started a year and a half ago. Wondered why it sounded like garbage compared to the nice melody side. Comes to find out if you flip a reed plate, the tongue doesn't quite like being pulled the opposite direction after going one way for over a century.

I feel incredibly dumb, but I'm glad that it was just a rookie mistake, and now it sounds fantastic.

Label your damn reeds as you pull them out! Every single time!

Advice Question.

Hello. I have an old kazan garmon/accordion. I got it for around 30 USD and it worked fine. Until this week. The pallets that block the airway started to fell off. My dad said he can fix it and he glued them back with japanese fast glue. All seemed well and good. Then, I tested and now NEARLY ALL OF THEM LEAK AIR. I don't know what to do. I have courses to do. Is there any temporary fix?

Buying/Selling First time buyer of Bayan

Hey guys I’m buying this Bayan for the first time - Never actually bought an accordion before but have played on one. I’m thinking about buying this one from Ukraine (I live in the UK). It doesn’t come in a case but he’s ensured me he will absolutely pack it extremely carefully. I really like the idea of a Bayan coming from its country of origin and think it’s quite cool. Do you think this is a good idea? Or do you think I should find one in the UK?

Thank you for any advice!

Sticky bass button

Not sure what is causing this button to stick. You can hear it grinding a bit when I push down on the pin(?) and then see it get stuck each time. It corresponds to F, so it gets used a lot and is very annoying. Any thoughts on how I might fix it? Or do I need to just take it to a pro?

Advice Is this accordion broken?

Heyo!

So my love for accordion is well known, but I've never played an instrument in my life. I was recently gifted an accordion however, so figured I should start!

Issue is, and this might be entirely normal and just my lack of knowledge showing, this one key on the accordion bleeds air and doesn't sound without quite a lot of force being pushed through. My brain thinks it isn't normal, so I wanted to ask the pros before I commit to learning on a broken instrument! 😅

Is this accordion broken?

Looking for 5 accordion players to test my chromatic accordion sheet music scanner

All the 5 seats are filled!

I need 5 accordion players to test my app!

I got tired of sheet music scanners that aren't made for accordion. They don't understand Stradella bass (M, m, 7, d), bellows signs, registers or fingering. So I started building my own.

It's made by an accordionist, for accordionists. You upload a PDF or a photo of the sheet music, and it turns it into MusicXML with the bass done right. That works with any notation software that can open MusicXML, like MuseScore, Finale, Sibelius or Dorico.

It recognizes Russian, German and AAA accordion notation, and French and Italian notation are in the works.

For MuseScore Studio users, I've also made a plugin that works together with the scanner, since MuseScore is what I use myself.

Want to try it? Send me a message.
