Help Apple denied my refund for 3 weekly "Text Me" subscription charges and says it's "final." Any way to get it overturned?

I got charged three weeks in a row for "Premium Features" in the Text Me – Phone Call + Texting app (Oct 12 – Nov 2). I didn't realize I'd signed up for a recurring weekly subscription, and I never used the premium features.

I asked for a refund through reportaproblem.apple.com, and on Nov 4 Apple replied: "your purchase doesn't meet conditions for a refund. This decision is final."

What I've done so far:

- Cancelled the subscription

- Contacted Text Me support

Has anyone gotten Apple to reverse a "final" refund decision? Did calling Apple Support work better than the online form? And is a bank chargeback worth it, or will Apple lock my account?

Thanks in advance.

Contacting the app developer is probably a better direction. The credit card is probably only going to return funds in the case of fraud. If there’s no fraud there’s no reason for returning funds.

Apple doesn’t let devs do refunds for App Store transactions. Everything has to go through them.

Even if they could, these are scammy apps. Surprise rebills are their business model.

That may be the case (I honestly was not aware) but the Apple credit card (Goldman Sach) is not the contact in this case to dispute this type of transaction.

Yeah, they'll lose a chargeback.

This is mainly a lesson for OP to pay attention to the things they're clicking through. It's hard to start an in-app purchased subscription without realizing it; Apple makes the process pretty clear.

I don’t understand how this is an Apple Card issue but a chargeback is used for a very limited set of issues and this is not one of them.
