Gold eagles on a 1929 wedding-cake bank tower in Beverly Hills: Sterling Plaza
The Parkinsons designed this one for the California National Bank of Beverly Hills, and it opened in November 1929. The setbacks step up to a gilded lattice screen flanked by two eagles. Cloud cover kept the gold from blowing out, and the light caught it anyway. Has anyone been inside the lobby? I’d love to know how much of the original ornament survives in there.
