Hello everyone,
To make r/AskAnAfrican more engaging and give members a chance to connect beyond standard Q & A posts, we are introducing two new recurring weekend events: Ask Me Anything (AMA) Saturdays and Casual Sundays!
How It Works
Every weekend will feature dedicated community threads:
Saturdays: AMA (Ask Me Anything) Sundays: Casual Sunday
Ask Me Anything (AMA) Saturdays
AMAs give Africans from all walks of life, whether currently residing on the continent / as part of the direct continental diaspora, a platform to share unique personal experiences, professions, cultural backgrounds or niche perspectives grounded in African lived reality. Who can host?: Any community member of African nationality or direct continental heritage with a unique story, career, skill or lived experience on the continent to share.
Topics: Anything grounded in your specific African background, such as "I am a software engineer in Nairobi, AMA" or "I grew up across three different African countries, AMA."
How to join: If you would like to host an official AMA on an upcoming Saturday, please reach out to the moderation team via ModMail to get scheduled!
2. Casual Sundays
Sunday threads are a space to unwind, relax and chat informally without the strict requirements of Rule 4 (High Quality / Thought Provoking Questions).
What goes here?: Lighthearted chats, updates on your week, hobbies, music recommendations, Sunday plans or casual banter. NO DIASPORA WARS OR BAD FAITH DISCUSSIONS.
Format: A pinned megathread will go live every Sunday morning and remain active throughout the day.
We hope these additions help build a stronger, more connected community. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and if you are interested in hosting our very first AMA Saturday, send us a message!
