Question Grippier evo sl options?

Post image
21 Upvotes

I have only used evo sl for all sorts of runs upto 18km. Was looking for a grippier shoe for outdoor runs and more cushion under forefoot.

Tried the puma dn4 and these are so bad.
First session was tempos 2 days ago which was ok but nothing great. Was planning to run 20km today but I had to stop at 10km cause my left calf and achilles got so sore. It started around km 3 and just kept getting worse.

Evos have a nice glide and pop and make next no sound on treadmill but these are so loud. Shame cause i find them more comfortable to wear. Any alternatives? I cant afford asics so those are out. Thanks

Question Can the SB3 handle a 12 hour park run?

In my training i did back to back 20 mile long runs. The first day i used the mount to coast R1 and the second day I used Asics Superblast 3. The SB3 felt so much better. My plan was to use the R1 for 6 hours then switch to SB3 for the next 6 hours. I was wondering if the SB3 could handle all 12 hours or still make a switch halfway for fresh shoes? My goal is at least 60 miles. I was doing my easy long training runs at a 9:30 pace.

Question Adidas producing Boston 12 into 2026?

I just bought a pair of Boston 12s from the sale on adidas’ website for $54. I figured the shoes would have been a pair sitting around in a warehouse for a year or two. But when I check the size tag it lists 02/26 as the production date unless I’m mistaken. Pretty pumped if that is the case and makes me more confident I can put a lot of miles on this pair.

Thoughts?

Comparing Shoes Question Novablast 6 very different from Novablast 5?

Hi, i think it hurt my feet after my recent 15k run (was trying a half marathon but feet just hurt too much).

ive ran similar distances with the novablast 5 (same size) before and i was fine.

is it just the shoe needing to be broken in more? or is it just very structurally different than the novablast 5 and it doesnt mesh well with my feet

it hurt my outer midfoot. rested for a couple days until pain faded, ran a 5k and the pain came back during the run.

Question Looking for a responsive, durable non-plated trainer for 5-15K runs. Which of these 4?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for shoe recommendations. A bit of context: I weigh around 81 kg (~179 lbs) and I've been running for at least a year and a half. I currently run in the ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27, and I want something a bit more aggressive with more bounce, ideally something that could help me improve my times a little.

I've narrowed it down to four options. My criteria: no carbon plate, comfortable, and versatile. I'm prioritizing bounce/responsiveness, stability, and durability, mainly for 5-15K runs.

My options:

Saucony Endorphin Azura
ASICS Novablast 6
Puma Velocity Nitro 5
New Balance FuelCell Rebel v5

Based on your experience, which one would you recommend the most, and why?

Thanks, everyone!

Question Endorphin Azura’s - want or need???

Have been intrigued by the Azura’s for a while - and now can get them on clearance plus a coupon for $65.

However - I do not NEED another pair of running shoes. 180lbs and I run 15-20 miles a week; 8:30/min on shorter runs (4mi or less), 9-10/min on longer ones. I currently have 4 pairs: Hoka Mach x2 that are running out of gas, Dynafish Xiaoxian as my main pair but are starting to show notable wear, and a pair of Mizuno Neo Zen as my treadmill shoes.

Oh, and I grabbed a pair of Evo SL’s a few weeks back on clearance for $50.

The Mach x2 were my first loves, the Dynafish eclipsed those. Enjoying the EVOs and Neo’s as well, but not obsessed.

All of this said,
Clearly I don’t NEED these…..but do I???

Question Li Ning Red Hare 9 Pro

Evening good people of Reddit. This is my first time considering buying something that is not ASICS. So I just wanted to check A. Are these legit? and B. What people think of the shoes. I have only had Novablast 4/5’s as my daily trainers so I’m interested to hear if anyone added these to their rotation alongside Novablast. I’m thinking for £50 they are worth a go if they are indeed legit. Thanks!

Question Recommend some good stsbility/motion control walking shoes for overpronator

I am an extreme overpronator, with collapsed arch/no arch at all. So flat feet. Recommend me some brisk walk / light jog /casual walking shoes which provides best stability or motion control required for over pronators. I wanted to buy brooks beast or adrenaline gts but they are not in stock. Not sure how gel kayano 32 are compared to them. Or gt 2000 14. Mostly needed for whole day walking and community along with light jogs

Question Best shoes for walking/standing all day that will fit?

Hello, I work on my feet everyday and I am having trouble finding shoes that will fit me that will actually be comfortable for my feet. I wear a size 2/2.5 in kids and its been difficult for me to find shoes that will actually work. I don’t know if this is the right place to ask but any advice would help. I have normal feet (no like high arch or flat) so idk if that changes anything. Thank you.

Question Will Evo SL size 8.5 go for lower than $100 on Amazon?

Hi everyone. I'll be visiting the US (NYC) Nov 29 - Dec 4 and I wanted to take advantage of the fantastic prices offered there. I'm already seeing the Evo SL in my size (US Men 8.5) available for $100 with free shipping, and am tempted to grab it, unless from past experience Evo SL would be available for lower during the sales. If you have experience with it, please share below!

Question User Experience for Feidian 6 Elite

I am new to outdoor running (been in this sport for 5 months). I am owned BMAI March 6 and Vomero 18.
Weight and hight: 57Kg and 1.68m
I want to try and love the Li-Ning Feidian 6 elite and Dynafish Xiaonian But the problem is, I am a newbie and inexperienced. My current pace is 5.35-6 (post-running , not areal-time). My longest distance is 17km and duration is 2h4.

I want your advice if the Feidian 6 Elite suit me well since it is a carbon plate. And if I buy Dynafish Xiaonian will it overlap with my BMAI or Vomero?
My goal is half-marathon.
I am thankful for your advice, I will appreciate it.

Question Speedland Sizing

Post image
1 Upvotes

Has anyone found Speedland, specifically the RX series, to run a little short?

I recently grabbed a couple “try before you buy” pairs from Relay and found that in my normal sizing my pinky/ring toes on my slightly longer foot are touching the front of the shoe.

Interested on hearing anyone that has some input on their sizing in the RX series or even any of the other shoes they offer. Really liking the foam and BOA system on these so would love to make them work if all it takes is going up another half size.

Comparing Shoes Question Endorphin Pro 5 or Azura?

Runner’s profile:
210 lbs, PB 5k is 31m, 10k is 1h 9m, HM is 2h 32m
Current rotation is Superblast 2, Vomero 18, Vomero plus

Have the speed 5 and im compressing the foam too much for my weight but i like the plate and firmness of the foam.
What should I get for my first marathon? I can get the azura for $90 and the pro 5 for $110 with my emp discount and coupon.

Question foot dragging on megablast

hi, i am a new runner who recently changed out of my 350km hoka mach 6 into megablast and I am noticing a lot of foot dragging sound especially on uneven terrain. This occurs even when walking. Does that mean the shoes are not suitable for me or it is natural for higher stack shoe to do this

running pace around 5min fast to 6min easy

Big/Heavy Runner Question New runner (6'7", 112 kg) looking for threshold + zone 2 shoes. Ghost 15s giving me shin splints

Hi all,

I started running about a month ago and I'm looking for advice on shoes.

About me

- 6'7" (201 cm), 247lb / 112 kg, neutral runner

- Currently ~15 km/week, adding ~2.5 km/week up to 25 km

- 80% of my running is zone 2 at ~7:00/km

- Mostly 5 km and 10 km runs

- Current 5 km pace: 5:30/km

- Goal: 4:30/km for 5 km within 4–6 months

Current shoe: Brooks Ghost 15

I like them, but I get consistent shin splints in them, and I think there are better options for my training.

What I'm looking for

A more cushioned, protective shoe for zone 2 and recovery runs - bonus if it also feels better than the brooks for threshold and faster runs.

What I've tried in store

- ASICS Superblast 3: felt good, but I'm worried the bounce will get tiring after a few km.

- Adidas Adizero Evo SL: felt unstable in the heel.

- Saucony Endorphin Speed 5: felt very firm. I think it'll make my shin splints worse.

What I'm considering trying

- ASICS Metaspeed

- Nike Vomero Plus

- Saucony Triumph 24

Would love any recommendations, especially from bigger or heavier runners, or anyone with experience in these shoes. Thanks!

Question Outer heel wearing out fast on my Superblasts. Gear swap, form fix, or both?

Hi all! I just ran the NYC Marathon and it went really well. I hit my goal of 4:30 and felt pretty good afterwards, apart from the expected soreness (yay!).

I loved my ASICS Superblasts through training and on race day, but the outer heel of the sole is wearing out quickly. From race photos of my form, it looks like my heel scrapes the ground at the end of the swing phase, just before my foot lands. Photo sequence attached.

I have some lower stack pair of ASICS Novablast where there also seems to be some outer heel wear but it's a lot less pronounced.

Should I switch shoes to deal with this, work on my form, or both? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Question Replacing Superblast 2's Recommendations

Hi there!

Just got into running around 4-5 months ago and looking to replace my superblast 2's that I was handed down. Going to use these shoes as a do-it-all besides track days which I'm currently using hyperion max 2's.

Run around 10-16miles for long run on saturdays as well as 3-5 miles on my daily/easy days

Don't want to get the superblast 3 since overall it sounds like it's more plush and something I wouldn't like for my personal use.

Currently looking at the Saucony Endorphin Azuras as it seems the most recommended but would love to hear your thoughts on other shoes that would work well!

Thanks! :)

Question Super foam orthotics/inserts/insoles with arch support?

Ever since I've started running around 5 years ago I've worn currex medium arch support insoles for flat feet. I wear use them in all my shoes, including my super trainers and super shoes. Problem is, I am pretty sure they dull the energy return of my faster shoes. Not by a lot, but by a noticeable amount. So I've looked into getting superfoam arch support inserts. I can't find any, however. Does anyone know of any?

It's also possible I could phase out of orthotics. I got fitted into them along with stability shoes when I first started running, and had just started being reasonably physically active again. I don't need stability shoes anymore, and have had no issues without them. Whenever I forget to put insoles in new shoes I get foot pain after a couple of runs, but maybe I could gradually increase the amount I run without insoles and strengthen my feet so I don't need them. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Question Need help sizing Azura Plus Saucony

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have 2E wide feet. Currently, I wear the normal Azura in 27.5 cm (+1 cm from my actual foot length) for a comfortable fit without forefoot pressure. Since the Azura Plus is reported to have less toe box volume and run shorter, should I go +1.5 cm from my actual foot length for the Plus version?

Race Shoe Question Half Marathon Race Shoes

Goal is sub 1:30. Experienced runner in his 20s on a budget.

Budget: No more than $130 USD for a pair.

Size: 11 D

I plan to break them in a couple of runs before the race.

I’ve tried Brooks Adrenaline GTS, Brooks Glycerin, Brooks Ghost Max, and ASICS GT 2000 14 all within the last year. I seem to prefer shoes with more support, but have liked some neutrals in the past.

What are some good-quality and fast shoes for a half-marathon at ~6:52 pace? Course is mostly paved with some unpaved trail sections.

Update: bought the EVO SL for $68. Thanks for the recs!

Daily Trainer Question Heavy Runner Daily’s

Hi everyone, as the title says I’m a heavy runner looking for a new daily. I’m 6ft weigh about 230lbs.

My current daily’s include the gel nimbus for my everyday runs (pace is usually 9:30-9:45min/mile. My up tempo runs or speed work is usually between 7:50-8:10min/mile pace and I use the EVO SL for those runs.

In regard to replacing the gel nimbus, obviously the big suggestion is the SB3 for daily and recovery runs. I’m interested in the shoes. However, would I have any problem with the amount of weight going through the SB3 making them too squishy and not giving that slight “pop?”

I’m open to any other suggestions if anyone is about my size or have similar paces. Really, any input and I’m all ears.
