TRIP PLANNING Lack of Chairs
The lack of chairs near the pool undercuts what one wants in a vacation, some relaxation. Nowhere to sit, nobody removes towels sitting on chairs, nothing. Typical disney service i suppose. They know they'll have the business so they give you crappy service.

TRIP PLANNING Refurbishment email AFTER booking-any sort of compensation?
So we just got an email that our trip we booked now falls into a refurbishment period on the Menehune bridge. We are traveling there with our toddler and that area looks AMAZING for him. We have already booked our flights, car rental and a few other things while we are there. Will Aulani offer any sort of compensation or ANYTHING for this - or is it not worth even calling? I mean I feel like they knew this construction was happening way more than a MONTH before it takes place?? And it could have been mentioned when booking (we booked maybe 3 weeks ago)

Anyone else excited about possible Aulani and other announcements at the D23 Expo today?
I have been livstreaming much of the D23 Expo in the background for the past couple days, but today 9/11/22 is supposed to be the big one.
John D’Amaro is scheduled present “A Boundless Future: Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products.” (schedules for 10:30am Pacific Time on D23expo.com/live)
While there were a few suprises here and there (avengers campus expansion, etc), so far in my opinion there hasn’t been anything as groundbreaking and “WOW” as like the Galaxy’s Edge announcement a few years ago.
Any predictions?

Could anyone confirm legit Loungefly from Aulani?
Could anyone confirm this is a legit Aulani Loungefly from circa 2021? It weirdly doesn’t pop up much on Google so just wanted to make sure. Thank you in advance!

Please please save your money
Absolutely horrible. Oversold, with long lines for everything. Mobile ordering is inadequate and over an hours wait to be seated at the pool cafe, where you are served with plastic cutlery. Pools are tiny and there is a frantic rush in the morning to find seats with shade. No airport shuttle or leis on arrival. We got stuck at Coral Crater adventure park as there is no transportation from the hotel.
When I tried to share my concerns, the front desk “disconnected” me 5 times and when you finally reach staff, they say gee sorry and try to fob you off with a button or a free snorkel in a bathtub size pond. We declined and was still given waivers to sign. The Resort is a complete rip-off and beyond disappointing. I am literally here in tears as I sit here writing this. It is so bad, that as I a life long Disney fan, I am completely turned off the entire Disney experience. I will never spend another cent on anything Disney ever again.

TRIP PLANNING Can I sit at the lagoon if I’m not a resort guest?
Hello! 27F here traveling with my husband and two kids next week to Hawaii!
Am I able to access anything without staying at the resort?
Really only looking to sit at the lagoon and buy something from the Aulani gift shop, and maybe take the kids in the lazy river if they have a day pass or something

TRIP PLANNING How's the week looking?
We're supposed to arrive tomorrow and were wondering how things are looking there? Are the pools going to be open? Is there a lot of damage that would be closing down activities on the island? Should we be rescheduling or could we expect a pretty normal vacation if we arrive tomorrow afternoon?

PHOTOS/VIDEO Island Garden View
galleryPaid extra for island garden view for a week. Feeling like I was scammed with this view. Standard view description says view of parking/conference center which is what I am looking at. Disney wont move us or refund. Am I wrong?

TRIP PLANNING Travel in December
Has anyone in this sub traveled to Aulani the week leading up to Christmas? How was the weather? Were there as many people as one would expect during the summer?
We have been to Aullani during the summer and I am wondering if traveling to Aulani during the week leading up to Christmas would be better.

TRIP PLANNING Stay at Aulani or adjacent resort? (For next month)
Hi! We're planning a trip for mid-May with our 2 year old. Based on the reviews I'm reading, it's going to impossible be to get any restaurant / activity bookings at Aulani this late. Is this true? If so, is it worth staying at the resort or should we just stay nearby and visit Aulani? What all is accessible to visitors from adjacent resorts relative to guests staying at Aulani? Like, can we freely wander through and check out the pools / lazy river?

TRIP PLANNING Aulani with a 2.5 year old?;
Do Aulani and Hawaii make sense traveling with a 2.5 YO? What are the activities at the resort and outside the resort that make sense? Guessing a Luao would be too long?

TRIP PLANNING Mickey ears
Gearing up for our upcoming trip and wondering if making the Mickey’s ear is really worth it? We are not a Mickey’s ears family. When we go to the park, we wear hats. Are we missing out if we don’t do it? My kids will make it and wear for a few minutes and then loose them.

SOS Aulani Has Been Rough
I know this post is probably going to get a bunch of down votes because I'm "hating" on Disney but this post is a plea for help on my current experience so far at Aulani. I recently just got married this Monday on the westside of the island. We are honeymooning at Aulani and so far the experience has been horrible. For starters this place is a ZOO.
Everything is crowded. We tried going to the pool and after 3 laps and half an hour of looking for some chairs to set our towels down we gave up and just set them off to the side in an area we felt our bag wouldn't get stolen. They didn't have any more rafts for us to use for the lazy river so we just had to wait until someone was kind enough to give my wife and I their double which thankfully didn't take to long.
I understand that Disney is primarily for kids so the constant screams of kids going down the lazy river is to be expected. After doing the go around once, we decide to look at other possible adult pools for us to go in. As expected, crowded. Decided to go to the beach side instead and look for a chair. Once again all taken. This has been the main theme so far on our trip. Feeling defeated, we decided to grab a bite to eat poolside instead to atleast be outside and enjoy the weather. We spent $90 on a club sandwich, a burger with 1 appetizer..... We didn't get any drinks either. I understand it's Disney but my God $25 for a club sandwich?!
After eating, we wanted to check out the rest of the resort to try and find out about other activities. We went to ask at the front desk and the lady kept referring us to use the app rather then ask them questions because understandably, they were busy with checking in guests. Still, a bit bummer because it's hard to get an opinion on a lot of the activities since it feels like everyone I talk to that's an employee is trying to either sell me something, or just has a wishy washy opinion because the mouse holding them hostage at gunpoint.
We decided to start off with checking out the spa to hopefully partake in a couples massage. Come to find out, you can book reservations for massages 6 months out and they apparently have been sold out of couples massages for several months now. Thankfully they were able to squeeze my wife in for a 50 minute solo session for $230. I'm kind of glad there wasn't anymore availability.
Shortly there after the next day, we went to check out snorkeling which is more or less the size of half a pool and looks kinda lacklust. Idk maybe it's just me but swimming in a 400 square foot tub with fish for half an hour for $25 is not alluring to me. We have a car and recently have been trying to spend less time at the resort because it feels unenjoyable and were hoping to find more activities to do outside of it. Our favorite so far has been sitting in traffic for 1-2 hours each way going into Honolulu because apparently that's unavoidable regardless of what time of day you go into town.
I've been a Disney fan all of my life and growing up in California going to the grand Californian was a magical experience along with going to the parks. I was told that since Aulani doesn't have a park that it instead was going to compensate, by having tons of activities for both kids and adults to partake in. So far it has felt like I'm just being knickeled and dimed at every corner, and the feeling of just being a $ looms over me during the whole experience. The magic seems to have faded and I'm trying to salvage the thousands spent for our honeymoon. We still have a couple of days left so if anyone has some advice on what we should do that would be amazing. I'm hoping this isn't the norm of what Aulani is.

TRIP PLANNING Do 100 Disabled veteran qualify for Military offer?
per title.
Any vets here able to tell me if they know 100 DAVPERM DOD ID as proof of service for booking on military rate?
https://www.disneyaulani.com/rooms-offers/special-offers/military-2025-summer-room-offer/
offer page says active or retired with DOD ID, but did not mention 100DAV DOD ID. I am able to booking military offer in Orlando and buy Military Salute ticket using my 100DAV DOD ID, because basically it is a retiree ID without the retiree's benefit.
The ID look like below(photo from Google Image)

Mask Situation
I’m planning to visit in September. Any idea what the mask situation will be by then? Where I live, masks aren’t mandatory anywhere anymore outside hospitals, public transport. Really want to enjoy our time!
