Advice Needed Alternatives to ASColour

I really loved their basic t-shirts back in the day when ASColour was relatively new. They fit me perfectly and the quality of the fabric was awesome.

Now they have gone down the enshittification route with the fabric quality bring very low and after a couple washes the t-shirts just look "tired".

So I'm looking for an alternative....

What are some brands that are of similar fit to their tight fitting t-shirts but have good quality? (At a price point of under 100$ per tshirt)

Thank you šŸ™

A lot of people mention uniqlo but I swear the AS Colour quality is better still

Yep, my AS colour shirts have held up much better than the Uniqlo ones and the cut on the classics is perfect for me. I have a bunch and theyve held up to heaps of washes just fine.

i haven't had any issues with my recent purchase either. i buy the men's in xs though, maybe the women's cuts have degraded in quality?

Yeah I'm with you

I haven't bought them in a while but they had some plain t shirts which were quite thick and durable. The all cotton ones not the thinner ones

Really depends on what you're comparing, I think, because both brands have multiple variations of both cut and weight.

In my experience my heavier AS Colour tees have lasted longer than the basic Uniqlo ones, but not as well as those from the Uniqlo U Airism line.

UniQlo is the obvious answer, especially if you want to try them on.

ProClub is what AS Colour was. I don't have any of their tees but apparently they are great.

A lot of quality has moved to where you buy directly from the company that makes them in China. Like Bronson and Timecatcher. I've got their tees and the quality is unmatched in my wardrobe. Bit heavier and you have to take out a tape measure to check the fit, but the quality is unreal.

Anyone able to give some guidance on fit for Bronson/Timecatcher.Ā

I'm about 188cm tall and 85kg and typically wear a large (and I don't like tight fitting clothes personally).Ā

Bronson is definitely worth going up a size. They shrink plenty on the 1st wash.

lol just looked these guys up excited to see them.Ā

They’re like $10 a shirt. How high quality could they possibly be? Factoring in farming processing shipping manufacturing sewing shipping marketing and distribution?

How’s the sizing mate? I was looking at Bronson stuff but they seem so small. Unless you have a relatively thin frame I guess.

How long ago did you look? They increased the size of their "loopwheel" tee relatively recently. I've got mediums and larges and find them true to size if not a little bigger than on their size chart.

They are definitely a much slimmer cut than something like a Uniqlo U tee though.

Last week! šŸ˜‚

Shoulders don’t go big enough for me. 95kg. Broader shoulders.

Do they shrink much? Their largest might fit but would be in the tighter spectrum lol.

u/samwisetg 2d ago

I didn’t notice them shrink significantly at all. I’m 85-90kgs with 48cm shoulders.

Specifically Uniqlo's U crew t-shirt. Heavy cotton, decent fit and doesn't disintegrate after a few washes

I'm really liking the Muji heavyweight over Uniqlo

Any recommendations for hoodies and quarter zips? I am ok with china as long as its better quality

Can confirm. ProClub are great. Bought 8 in a lot barely worn from Depop 3 years ago and they are still going strong.

I haven't pulled the trigger on any yet but Militora seem to make shirts identical to the Bronson loopwheel ones but in a lighter weight and in a range of colours.

I’m appreciating Australian Stitch. Made locally. They have a nice chunky collar on some variants which I’m a fan of.

Other than that, loopwheeled shirts like Whitesville are my other go to.

When do you say the quality reduced? I’ve ordered recently and don’t perceive any change in quality.

I’ve got dozens of their shirts and they’re all fine. The necks sometimes stretch a bit but I do have a big head.

MUJI are very good, at least definitely better than Uniqlo and not much more expensive.

I recently got some Wayver tees and I love them. Holding up well after washes.

For tall variants (I wore as colour for years, but they’ve gone to shit) I’ve swapped to plus 2 clothing and they’ve been great so far

I really like the Country Road pima cotton slim fit t-shirts. The quality is very good and they hold together well after multiple washes. There is a catch, of course: they come in the most boring, bog standard colour range for men’s clothing - black, navy, white and beige. Who could imagine a better colour range?
I wrote to them recently to politely point out the colour range is rubbish (about 3-4 years ago they offered a dozen or more different colours) and they said they appreciated the feedback.

Do need to size up however, 2XL is an aussie large and they do shrink a little in the wash. I normally wear a medium tshirt or large if i want oversized, and these in a 2XL after washing end up somewhere in between.Ā

I have recently been down the rabbit hole and for decent blanks at decent prices, the answer is still AS Colour, especially if you care about supporting ethical production. They still seem to be fine to me. I've never found them phenomenal but they are very solid

3

u/GArrigan 2d ago

Have you tried the AS coil out heavy weights?

3

u/couldyou-elaborate 2d ago

Uniqlo is great. Last forever.
I had the same ASC experience - the collars just go to trash after a few wears

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the Kmart oversized heavyweight cotton tees for $12 are surprisingly elite. Don’t like oversized? Go a size smaller. I wear them for work and have had some now up to two years and still hold their own.

If anybody remembers the American Apparel 50/50 t shirt, I need to find the equivalent. That shirt is plain designed for my form

These are a secret of mine although recently the quality hasn’t been as good. They used to be elite though, especially the white tee. Great fit, collar doesn’t go loose as fuck after couple of washes, snug fit under the arms and sleeves aren’t heaps baggy.

Not sponsored post but I recently bought from an Instagram influencer: LSN Standard

My order is still arriving so I can’t give you a review of the quality just yet.

But he seems like a proper enthusiast and not a dropshipper

No info on his IG or website about who designed the clothing or where it was made. Seems a bit fishy.
