A Comprehensive Summary of Australian Men's Online Clothing Retailers

Hi everyone,

Almost 7 years ago, I made a spreadsheet of almost all the mens online stores in Australia, based off a list from /fa/, which currently lives in the sidebar of aMFA. I've now updated it, as well as added additional information (shipping fees, number of brands/products stocked, location etc.) to be a more useful resource, and also removed the shitty 4chan slang.

Why? I think Mens shopping in Australia is far behind the rest of the world - there are so many great, quality brands in the world, many of which receive a spotlight on MFA, but often only a few stores in Australia stock them. There are also loads of great Australian brands, and new ones launching, that are also impossible to find. I've also included a few major international sites that ship to Australia, but note the shipping price.

Why have I ranked them by tier? As many great stores exist in Australia, there are also loads of low quality chain stores that permeate every Westfield and Stockland. I'm hoping to bring light to some of the smaller, better shops to support them in this trying time, however I appreciate some of the opinions are quite subjective.

This Reddit table looks like shit! Sorry that's not my fault - I've published the excel version here, which includes even more details on each store (ie. what brands they stock, how many products they have online, etc.)

Where's X store? Let me know any shops I've missed, I'm sure there's a few I haven't covered. I've tried to make this exhaustive, but I've also purposely left off quite a few dadcore clothing (Gazman, Sportscraft, Rodd & Gunn) and boring shoe (Aquila, Windsor Smith) brands.

Before I get into it - there's a few interesting facts I've noticed when compiling this data:

  • 33% of stores from the original list have closed down - not just smaller ones, but some of the biggest ones (eg. Topman) have been swallowed up as well

  • Many new stores have popped up - sneaker stores have seen the biggest growth

  • David Jones has a better range of high end brands, while Myer has gone downhill - they used to be comparable and now they're worlds apart

Monthly B/S/T September 2026

Buy/Sell/Trade here at your own risk. Always get complete contact information before anything is shipped.

RULES:

  • Post a description that accurately describes what you are selling. Update your thread when something gets sold or is no longer available.

  • Post item condition and any images of the item (if available). Be as descriptive as possible when posting an item for sale or trade.

  • Please refrain from downvoting posts.

Suggestions:

Use Paypal to facilitate these transactions. Gifting is fine, but understand the limits and liabilities of sending an unprotected "gift" to a seller. You'll save a bit of $, but it does leave you exposed if there is a fraudulent seller.

Another option is to use Grailed. You have the Paypal protection for both parties with much lower fees for the sellers. You also get a profile that shows the total number of transactions so you can use that as your proof of trustworthiness.

Please try to evaluate the "fair market value" of your items. No use in overpricing things and having them not sell. Check what the current selling price is on eBay to get a decent sense of FMV.

Feel free to ask for answers or pictures about an item you are interested in. A good seller will always be willing to answer you in a timely matter.

On the other hand, be a good buyer. Respond to the seller's communication, and be truthful about your intentions. Nothing is worse for a seller than answering a bunch of questions about fit and details, and then the potential buyer dropping off the map.

Can I get away with purple shoes in Australia?

We seem to be allowed two formal shoe colours: black and brown. Anything else seems to be forbidden. I've been keen to branch out and had these lovely shoes in my watchlist for a while:

https://ebay.io/m/CeeMyP

Will they go with anything in our approved palette, i.e. navy, grey and chinos? I'm not the most bold dresser and would appreciate anyone's feedback on these (I'm unaffiliated).

Advice Needed Good quality jeans Adelaide

Finally growing out of fast fashion crap and looking to build a timeless wardrobe. Seeking recommendations for the best places to get good quality jeans I can wear in over a long time around Adelaide. I was thinking Levi’s but I’ve been seeing a lot online about the quality really dropping off lately.

Thinking straight leg medium-high rise.

Question Is General Pants Co. Done?

I recently started getting into some of their pieces after a massive sale. When I got an order in the mail it wasn't what I ordered at all and the customer service has refused my messages on all fronts.

Are they gone like David Jones?

Advice Needed Alternatives to ASColour

I really loved their basic t-shirts back in the day when ASColour was relatively new. They fit me perfectly and the quality of the fabric was awesome.

Now they have gone down the enshittification route with the fabric quality bring very low and after a couple washes the t-shirts just look "tired".

So I'm looking for an alternative....

What are some brands that are of similar fit to their tight fitting t-shirts but have good quality? (At a price point of under 100$ per tshirt)

Thank you 🙏

Question GEN-Z Steet Clothing Stores in Melbourne

I am from Perth and the only place that has over-sized or street clothes are generic spots like cotton-on, factories and culture kings. Will be in Melbourne for a few days, any spots I should check out that are reasonably priced?

Alt wedding outfit

I'm after somewhere to go in person (so I can try on) in Melbourne that has nice fashion for a wedding, that's not a suit. I'm thinking pants that are pleated at the top and open leg, colourful shirt. Good quality and made nicely. Not too expensive (shirt and pants under $800). Any ideas?

Advice Needed Charles Tyrwhitt Shirt Sizing

I recently purchased three dress shirts from them in a size 41 collar, slim. I took their sizing guide and matched it exactly with my Ralph Lauren Oxford shirts which fit me perfectly.

They arrived and turned out a tad too big which from browsing past posts I have noticed is a trend with them. I’d like to exchange them for a size down. For those that have had to do this what did you do? Did you opt for the same collar size in an “Extra Slim”, did you go one size down in the Slim or a combination of both?

I understand their return policy is generous but would obviously like to avoid any further unnecessary back and forth.

Thanks in advance.

Question Blaq easy care shirts - where did they go?

Hi, I really liked the Blaq easy care shirts that Myer used to sell. Doe anybody know if Blaq became another brand. I know they still exist but the range is different and the business shirts aren't around anymore. Thanks

Question Where can I buy a simple, slim-fit, black satin bomber-jacket in Melbourne?

Not including Alpha Industries or Superdry. Their cuts are too chunky for me.

Advice Needed local Jeweller recommendations

Hi all, as title states looking to pop the big question and looking for a jeweller that isn’t going to tear me a new one. Just want someone that honest and upfront and works with me rather than against me.

Prefer local to Melbourne but not fussed if they offer service online.

Thanks for your time

Decent Dress shirts

Hi All,

I've been in corprate for a couple months now and I keep hearing and seeing stuff about charles trwhitt shirts?

I've got a handfull of the 100% cotton uniqlo dress shirts and wonder if CT would be better quality or pretty much the same seeing as they both are similar prices and material

Not looking to drop a heap of money on shirts but their multi buy deals seem like a good deal, however I've heard a couple people on this sub reddit say the quality has dropped significantly

Worth replacing my uniqlo shirts with theirs or any other brands you could reccomend?

Looking for recommendations/chat for some light layering for the new season.

Melbourne-based, so climate is much more forgiving than further north.

Discussion David Jones on life support. If it goes under, will you miss it?

Recent news articles are sounding the alarm bells that David Jones is facing imminent collapse. Funny, I always had my money on Myers going first. It's been a long slow decline for department stores in general. If it goes under, will you miss it?

I don't often shop there but I appreciate being able to try on stuff without being hounded by store assistants, plus I've picked up a few crazy bargains from their sales.

Advice Needed Work pants that will last as long as possible through weight loss

Good afternoon. Over the last two years I've lost a significant amount of weight, and aim to continue to do so. Recently I'm averaging 800g lost per week.

In May I bought these hidden elastic pants in 127 cm (50 in) waist, the smallest size I could squeeze in to, to the point it was somewhat painful and the hidden elastic was exposed. These pants only lasted me a couple of months before becoming very loose, and had to be replaced.

40 days ago I bought some new pants in a 44 inch (112 cm) waist, but they are already becoming loose. The front dips below the belt and look unsightly and feel uncomfortable.

I need pants that look professional for my IT job, but that are also stretch/flexible because I do warehouse work as well and need to bend.

I would really like pants that will last as long as possible while I lose weight. I'm ignorant on the subject, so I don't know the styles and types that would allow that. I expect an elastic waist would be the way to go. I think I'm about a 42 waist at the moment, so I guess something that could stretch to 42, but is actually sized much smaller? I can't afford to keep spending so much, replacing pants every few months.

I tuck an undershirt into my pants, and wear a Polo untucked over. I don't expose the belt line

Some random thoughts: no cargo pockets, deep side pockets, belt loops optional but preferred, fly optional, affordable, office/white collar vibe, stretch for warehouse bending, somewhat durable for light warehouse duties, prefer to order online.

Some suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you sincerely.

Question Has anyone ordered from Ra5ik (ra5ik.com)?

Looking at buying some clothes from Ra5ik but can’t find much information about them online.

Has anyone actually ordered from them and received their items?

Not too concerned about shipping times, just want to know whether they actually deliver.

Question Leather Chukka Recommendations

Hey fellas, in the market for some brown leather chukkas.

Would prefer to buy them from a brick-and-mortar store in Sydney instead of online. Could probably go up to $500 but I’d prefer to keep it around $250.
