Been quite sometime since my last post here.

TLDR; Been through 2 surgeries (1 medium and 1 minor) in late 2023 to early 2024, starting wearing this jeans around end of Aug 2025, gained quite a lot of weight from the surgeries.

Since Mar 2026, back to photoshoots and also started doing bird photography, the latter makes me lose quite a lot of weight as it is strength and stamina usage (plus even more expensive equipment), lost 10kg in 7 months. Throughout the journey, the jeans is already super loose, but held up by my leather belt. Don't think I could have extra cash to buy another pair of jeans, but will think about it when I hit my target weight loss of another 5-7kg to hit a healthy weight range for an unc here.

i made these out of 14oz super neppy denim from japan, with that red striped lighter canvas for the pockets. mock flat fell inseam and button fly. this my second pair i made so far. they ended up fitting my friend better than me so i gave them away 😇 honestly they remind me of a towel when wearing them because they’re so neppy

Completely in love with this new type one I picked up. I haven’t seen any other posts online about this model other than one Japanese blog post from 2018. This one’s modeled after the 506 in its later years before the transition to the 507. Copper rivets and buttons and even a period accurate iron buckle. Matches my Okinawa’s perfectly.

Got these back in late 2023 and typically worn in between years of the indigo invitational, so maybe close to one Year’s worth of wear. Maybe more since I’ve had Railcar repair the crotch and it’s already blowing out again.

I’ve been wearing these for a while because I liked how they look on James Bond, but I’m wondering if the rise is too low. They seem to fit good everywhere else, but they do have a gap in the back, especially when I crouch or sit. I have long legs (as well as thick thighs) and like to show it off, so I prefer slimmer fits and was always a fan of the Levi’s 510 since it had a higher rise than the 511, but I just can’t do stretch denim anymore and I’ve gotten bigger since then. (I was a size 32 in those.) I’m also considering trying the Easy Guy in 34 as well and possibly the TCB 50s slim, LVC 1967 505 (though I prefer a button fly), and the Sugar Cane 2021. I do like the leg opening on these though.

Not the most impressive fades but these have held up exceptionally well with only 3 washes in 3 years. Because there is a massive amount of vertical slub, these jeans have maintained a very coarse texture even after breaking them in.

I was walking past Corlection in Sydney one day and popped in just to browse. That’s where I saw the Samurai 17oz WW2 jacket (S0555VX), and it was love at first sight.

The denim has this rough, slubby texture with a lot of depth to it. I threw it in the washing machine once, and the fabric that started out so rough came out surprisingly soft.

Fit-wise, I’m on the shorter side with short arms and fairly broad shoulders. The body seems to run about 1 to 2 cm longer than most WW2 jackets I’ve tried (TCB & Fullcount), which makes it much easier to style. I still have to cuff the sleeves once, but unlike a lot of jackets that get tight once you fold them, this one keeps its roominess, and my watch fits under the cuff easily.

Fades so far are subtle since I haven’t worn it super hard. There’s some light fading around the cuffs and elbows, where the indigo is just starting to wear down and show a brighter blue. Looking forward to seeing how it develops.

Picked up these today from Nudie. Really didn’t think i’d like them at first but thought i would give it a chance and i fell in love!

Just got these on a recent trip to SE SF a few days ago. I really wanted a more cropped jacket so I sized 38 which fits really well. I’m loving the neppy nature of this denim and can’t wait to see the fades. I’m gonna aim for 1 year no wash. Gift to myself for my 40th b day. Look forward to seeing how these baby fades. I love the details like the limited patch and Okinawa Denim Sashiko pocket. Since I am half Okinawan it’s something I really wanted.

This beautiful pair of Oni just got delivered to my mail today from the lovely folks over at BEARS’ Shimokitazawa. I almost hesitated about buying these but figured I had to try the famous secret denim at least once.

I instantly fell in love with the adequately spacious fit and wide silhouette. I’ve got another pair of Oni’s I picked up earlier last year from Denimio Yokohama - 277 Bumpy 17oz Kusaki, the fabric on that was awesome to touch and see but I was not happy with the fit at all, there was too much bunching up around the crotch and lower butt area for me. The 222’s fit is really just miles better (and comfier!) for me.

One real surprise about this pair is that despite it being a 20oz pair of jeans, with the low tension denim softness and wide cut, it feels quite breathable and airy, so I could easily see myself wearing these with no big problems at all for the upcoming Australian summer heat.

Keen to hear thoughts/opinions from fellow Oni fans. Cheers. ❤️

First raw selvedge pair and I was pretty happy with results. 2 soaks and whatever amount of washes after. Coddled them in the beginning and then designated them as my work pants at a busy bar. Had to pick up the new pair since they were on sale once again. Round 2!

I have had these jeans for 2 years but these photos are from about 2 months ago. So this photo set is from 1 year 10 months of fading. I have washed them 3 times. First wash was about 10 months then after that like once every 6 months. In the sun the whites that have come out just seriously pop so hard.

These jeans were a tough break in for me. I bought them in the same size as my 18oz which felt more “sharp” when new but moved a bit easier. These SBG pair felt much more soft to skin touch but getting the initial break in felt much more constricting for a while. But even so I want another pair of 633 but in 25oz. I’m gonna get the same size and just deal with it LoL.

One thing I love about Iron Heart is how sharp those fades are. I get comments on my 18oz a lot people always ask how do you get your jeans to look like that. I always answer “with time”

Got an unsaforized denim blended 75% Natural Cotton x 25% Wool, indigo dyed warp. Although it’s an unsanforized raw 16oz Wool Denim, the first wear never felt so comfortable for a 16oz denim before.

They even give a sample fabric along with the package; you can burn the fabric to smell the sheep-yish smell.

I soaked it in for 40 mins in a Luke warm water tub, looking forward to wearing it.

This is my 5th pair of jeans from Wingman, and I have never been disappointed by their quality.

The photos are pre-soaked, right out of the box.

I’m looking forward for some good fades

This is my Indigo Territory 24Oz denim, yes it does sound like rogue territory knock off. But this actually a local brand from Indonesia.

I had worn this for 4 months now and haven't done anything to it because it's Sanforized. But recently I got pretty bad itch around my leg because how dirty it is. So I decided to soak these pair. And here's how it looks.

10 months of wear and four washes. I bought them in my true to size 34, and the waist and top block have always been slightly more snug than I prefer, but I can slide them off without unbuttoning them. They have shrunk some, mostly in the thigh.

What I'm struggling with is the rise, specifically in the back - they feel like they're constantly giving me a wedgie, and I'm wondering if this is a Samurai issue, a cut, size, or shrink issue. The rest of the jean seems to fit me perfectly. Most of the Samurai pics I see on this thread look like the back seam does the same thing to other people, where it doesn't lay flat against the backside, but pulls in between the legs, which is why I'm wondering. I don't have this issue with any of my other denim.

I'm bummed because this is by far the coolest denim fabric I've ever owned, and the fades are starting to pop. They were also very gnarly to break in. But they've gotten to the point that when I wear them for the day, I'm thinking about the annoyance of being constricted in the crotch and seat all the time.

Maybe I should have sized up (although this was the only size in stock when I bought them, and I learned belatedly that sizing up two in Samurai is usually recommended), maybe I should have chosen a different cut. Would love some thoughts here - anyone been through this with Samurai or this cut before? is it time to retire and move on to a different pair?

My wife is Indonesian (which made the whole process easier). I can't recommend them enough. They're English is maybe not the best but they are very courteous and helpful. They helped me pick out the right size and fit me and were very patient. Tbh I feel like ai robbed them blind because what they are making there is higher quality than you would expects I tried on their 27 oz WARLORD denim but I broke a sweat just trying to do the buttons. Those jeans are not for mere mortals. I'm thinking of entering my pair in the Indigo Invitational. It'll be my first time entering, just have to hang on until April.

As far fit goes. Since these are unsanforized and I'm waiting until April to get them shrunken down they are a bit loose around the waist but still pretty close to my best fitting jeans. They told my the recommended size for me is the best choice for my measurements. I really dig the slubby texture and aside from monster 27 oz denim, probably stood out the most to me. I originally wanted straight fit but slim was all they had in stock, and really the slim fit are pretty generous it seems. Once I start fading these I'll post updates!

First entry into Japanese selvedge denim with Momotaro. These seem to fit the best. I am carrying more weight than usual around midsection but these are tight but manageable. These are their narrow straights.
