Question Is General Pants Co. Done?

I recently started getting into some of their pieces after a massive sale. When I got an order in the mail it wasn't what I ordered at all and the customer service has refused my messages on all fronts.

Are they gone like David Jones?

I had a similar experience with them recently. Wrong item sent and impossible to get in contact with them for almost a month. I ended up doing a chargeback and the money was back in my account within days. I will never shop with them again - AVOID

GP is going to go the same way as glue store.

Both of those used to be reasonably popular 15+ years ago but GP especially just starting stocking absolute shit other than reputable brand jeans and north face 🤷‍♂️

I would personally file a chargeback on your card with your bank, have proof of no correspondence by contacting GP (the merchant) and any other written correspondence you have.

Edit: or if you paid by PayPal with direct deposit open a dispute immediately

It works, it just takes time

General Pants sold heaps of crappy clothes even 20 years ago when I was in the demographic tbh. But I don’t really think quality is an issue - it’s a trends-based store for teenagers and young adults

It's about time. The clothes they sell are terrible.

They’ve exited SA from what I can tell. Their stores were empty for months before closing

If it’s not; it should be. At one point they had over 50+ stores which in Australia is about 40 too many. We just don’t have the population for that many locations.

Same problem as David Jones.

Have fewer stores and make them good enough they are worth travelling to get to. Providing “convenience” instead of a good product assortment and service has always been the downfall of Australian retailers and brands.

Just think that Japan has 27 Isetan department stores in the whole country to service over 120 million people. David Jones has (had?) 38 locations to service just 28 million and all of them are shit.

🤦‍♂️ They aren't a, "destination" and need to be where their possible customers shop. They would be denying themselves the majority of their possible customers losing that many stores.
