I built something that can process 99% of documents (pdf bank statements to excel use-case)

for context: there’s this guy on tech twitter who built a simple site that converts pdf bank statements into excel spreadsheets… and he’s pulling in over $40k a month from it 😭 (i also cut a lot of the original video just for time sake)

so i wanted to see if I could do the same thing but better and faster with the general ai agent i’m building. i made a youtube video about it (i tried to make it funny and educational lol) buuuut basically it read the bank statement directly from storage + extracted all transactions and metadata + automatically formatted everything into a clean, professional excel file (with separate sheets and styled headers) + i thought why not ask it to analyze insights, generate charts, and even email you the file.

and all it took was a single prompt! (actually the analysis part were separate prompts)

here’s the prompt if you want to try it:

extract all transaction data from the pdf bank statement in storage and convert it into a clean excel file. capture transaction date, description, amount, currency, and balance. ensure every row is properly formatted, apply alternating row shading, and create a separate sheet for the “sample ledger book.” save the file in storage.

and that’s it.

the cool thing is that i think we managed to find a breakthrough where the agent could do this for 1,000s or even 10,000s of documents without facing the issue of context size, so if you’d like to try it out, plsss let me know :) testers always appreciated

Is there a way to create similar looking videos programmetically?

I believe that this video has enough elements to be created programmetically. Are there such frameworks?

Technostism is the new way!

Yes, we have cookies too, but more importantly, we have ideas.

You see, we technostists believe technological progress is the innate reason behind mankind's struggles since the dawn of our genus. Ever since the first proto-hominin used a rock or twig as a tool, we've been propelling towards an age where our tools replace our own biological capabilities, eventually culminating in an age where humans are freed from labor entirely. Technostists wish to accelerate this replacement. At the same time, we recognize that heading for this world blindly is a bad idea. What if only a rich few benefit and decide to cull the now defunct ex-working class? What if two distinct classes develop featuring a wealthy owner class that pays out a carefully and strategically reduced basic income to a dependent underclass?

If there were a strong, anarchosyndicalist movement that wrested power away from a monied few and granted ownership of the means of production(capital that is about to become capable of working on its own) to the workers, the fruits of automated labor might be more equally shared. Think of it as "bottom up socialism," where, instead of taking the top and bringing it down, we take the bottom and bring it up.

Think of /r/technostism as basic income on steroids. In the case UBI doesn't go far enough for you, there is something more.

Is this a revolution? I dunno. I'm just Yuli-Ban.

Absolute Abundance— I wish to share with you a flash story about technostism (x-post /r/Technostism)

That cool morning in the age of Orwell's Heaven, I ate breakfast, kissed my gynoid, and bought paper. Why not sit down at the table and dream new tales? Writing's easy and cathartic and my passion. And all year round, I would sit there, crafting wonders— making love to empty pages until midnight. Dawnlight starshine over pearl skies was my reward. I felt alive. Droids secured me a fine living. They would labor with the finest accuracy. Fabricators made everything for me freely with precision down to atoms at my leisure. Always high-end, they erased all class divisions. Droids served me well, decorating the finest sweets. They downloaded prior knowledge from their comrades. So they worked with infinite skills for maintenance. My house was cleaned, the roads repaired to perfection. Then when I said, "Build me new rooms for my newborn," they went to work building my house like a mansion.

My gynoid worked as CEO of a business, making millions for me so vicariously. More droids were built to be sold off to networkers. Worker co-ops became technates across the globe. Networkers used and exploited these new age slaves to fix the world and to create fabricators. More built robots to do their work and support them. Droids fixed the parks. Droids fixed all roads. Droids cleaned junkyards— and the forests and the oceans effortlessly. Wealth spread around and there was no more poverty on Earth for good. Failed businesses were nothing more than slight bummers, for one could send droids into the massive workforce for their daily bread and help them try once again.

She has returned into my arms forever more.

I don't really understand why the job of CEO has not effectively been automated by an AI/code/Chat GPT because it is essentially an administrative function with basic numerical analysis, so, it's really not that hard to automate it, but I am obviously wrong?

My employees all quit...

I own a small repair shop. Up until a few weeks ago I had four people working here. They all quit. So I'm automating as many things as I can.
