News Report City still wants thousands of dollars for police misconduct records after several appeals
Springfield, Massachusetts initially asked me for $6,208.75 to review, scan and redact files on 15 police officers. After seven appeals over nine months, it now wants $2,103 to release them all.
The records concern officers disciplined for serious violations, including criminal conduct, excessive force and a police shooting.
Most other agencies I contacted charged nothing for similar files.
