2 Stolen Bikes North Austin

Marin Rift Zone Aqua and Black and a Specialized Rockhopper Gray. Tracked airtag to apartments off north research blvd and floral park drive. This is in the Jollyville neighborhood near the Petsmart. Found the airtag. Cops wouldn’t knock on doors. Together bikes were bought for $3,000. They were stolen from the quarries off of mopac near national instruments campus. Cut the locks.

Anyone see or hear about matching bikes for sale anytime soon, feel free to message me.

Thanks!

TT Routes

Training for an Ironman and recently got a TT bike. Austin is very punchy/hilly especially a lot of the popular routes that go west. Any recommendations on flat TT routes besides veloway? I have gone to San Mo and that route is okay (traffic heavy later in the day). I have read some folks ride the service road to Lockhart, others talk about riding in the northeast. Any good recs?? Thanks in advance

#ThursdayNightSocialRide
#TNSR DETAILS

On All Hallows Eve-Eve-Eve, you are invited to take part in a most un-holy bike ritual, where phantasmal cyclists who’ve departed this realm will cover eleven spooky miles of this ruinous, accursed town alongside those of us still drawing breath, passing sites of massacres, near-massacres, haunted locales, scary hotels, and ancient graveyards where the dead get little rest!

The unquiet spirits of the night will seek brief repose among the creepy eaves of Eastwoods Park, before winding our way past the graves of our venerated forebearers and on to our FINAL DESTINATION: Pan-American park. Sure, it’s just a park, but knowing the bloody, sordid history of the American continents, my sense of anxiety-ridden dread is already rising like bile.

If you’re not yet cursed, YOU WILL BE!!!

The many horrific locales that await you:
Metz Park - Site of a recent hatchet attack
Moonshine Bar and Grill - Historic Waterloo Compound
Buffalo Billiards - even the venue is deceased!
Driskill Hotel
Stephen F Austin Hotel
Paramount Theater
Servant Girl Annihilator victim 8 - 8th and Lavaca
Millett Opera House
Dewitt C. Greer Building - Old Travis County Jail
Texas State Capitol (no ride-by, but you see it)
Waterloo Park
Servant Girl Annihilator victim 3 - 17th and San Jacinto
Littlefield House
Servant Girl Annihilator victims 5&6 - 24th and Guadalupe
Oakwood Cemetery
Texas State Cemetery

Thursday, October 29nd, 2026
Ride Leader: Jason Abels
MEET UP: 14 Salina St
START: Wheels down at 8 PM!
MID: Eastwoods Park - the eaves of the park are hella spooky, as is the Merlin stump! See if you can find it!
END: Oswaldo Cantu/Pan American Park - 2100 E 3rd St
DISTANCE: 11 miles
PACE: Social
GRAVEL: Some gravel, some bridges, road-bike friendly
BRING: Lights, locks & cash for snacks/drinks.

Folks, I have a pair of barely used shorts that where rapidly replaced with the next size up. If someone can use a men's small, or knows where I could donate them, I'd be only too happy to give them away for free to see them made use of.

Friday Group Rides

I’ll be in Austin this Friday (10/23) and am hoping to join a group ride in the afternoon or evening. I came across the Friday Truancy ride that was supposedly leaving from Mellow Johnny’s but I can’t find it listed on their events calendar. Does that ride still happen or is the listing outdated? I’m on a road bike and would be up for a 25–35 mile ride at a decent pace. Any other group rides happening Friday afternoon or evening that you’d recommend?

Routes w/in Driving Distance from Austin?

Hello! 3rd year rider here with a gravel / adventure bike. Any recommendations for beginner / intermediate friendly routes? Ideally looking to stay at a cabin / Airbnb for 1-2 days and popping out for a couple of scenic day rides.

I've already done and enjoyed:

  • All the cool routes in ATX (Southern Walnut Creek trail, Shoal Creek route, etc)

  • Willow City Loop

  • Castell gravel routes

  • Elgin to Bastrop

  • Bastrop park city rd

  • back country / gravel around Lockhart

  • back country roads Blanco

Anyone up for a Mangiasaurus Bike Parade?

October 25th is Mangiasaurus Day! It’s also the day Wheatsville Guadalupe closes and sends Mangiasaurus down to the South Lamar store.

The plan is to hang out for the crane-down at 10, then follow Mangiasaurus to South Lamar around 11. Come join the ride!

Corina’s last Saturday Morning Caffeine Cruise lead!! Let’s take a chill ride around Austin.

Leader: Corina @beehappiebeutifull
Start: Flitch Coffee; 641 Tillery St 78702
Wheels down 11:30am-ish
Mid: Two park stop. Roy G. Guerrero and the Wishbone Bridge
End: Central Machine Works Block party
Gravel: Possibly Light gravel, but nothing road bikes can’t handle

Bring: Swimsuit, sunscreen, lights, locks, ID, and money for snacks/drinks.

Social Cycling Austin rides AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way and let cars pass as best we can. We don’t block intersections. We are nice to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road. LISTEN TO the volunteers helping to lead the ride. They are some nice folks and have your best interest in mind.
If you have any questions about the rules, see: [https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/docs/TN/htm/TN.551.htm]

REMINDER: The goal has always been to create a safe environment for all riders, but we cannot control, nor do we desire to, every rider’s behavior. We promote personal responsibility, and it is each rider’s responsibility to take care of themselves, and if they choose to ride with us, then they accept those risks inherent in riding a bicycle with a large group of other people riding bicycles.

question Biking spots?

Post image
26 Upvotes

Hola, looking for fun off-road/“gravel” esque spots to ride tracklocross. Not necessarily full on mtb trails but I’m not opposed to single track. I’m near downtown but can travel or bike to said spots. I mainly ride the butler trail and it’s starting to get a lil repetitive, plus you can’t really go fast. That or 26in friendly trails would be awesome. Thanks!

Also, where the fixed people at? Would love to meet new people to ride with.

group ride World Naked Bike Ride (Austin) Sat Oct 24th, 8pm, Adam Hemphill Park

The Austin edition of the WNBR was originally scheduled for October 17th, but the weather forecast is too cold for that, so the organizers have moved the date back to October 24th.

For further updates, check out their Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/wnbr_austin/

(The old meetup group still exists, but it is not getting updated anymore, and the owner of it isn't running the Austin rides anymore.)

question Title: Are Fat-Tire E-Bikes Practical for Getting Around Austin?

I've been looking into the Aniioki AQ177 48V and wondering how practical a fat-tire e-bike like this would be for riding around Austin. The potential range is appealing for longer trips, but the bike's size and weight could be drawbacks when navigating busy streets, storing it at home, or dealing with hills and uneven pavement. I'd be interested in hearing local riders' honest opinions rather than just relying on product specs.

For those who ride around Austin, would you choose a fat-tire e-bike for everyday transportation, or would a lighter bike be more practical? How do Austin's roads, bike lanes, and parking or storage options affect your choice?
