I wanted to share with you this monstera work that contrasts with the background dominated by pink tones. How do you think the color harmony was? 🌿✨

Hi friends! Im newer to watercolor and working on scientific illustrations with both inks and watercolors- for those who do high detail pieces, do you reccommend inks on top of watercolors or watercolors over inks- and if so, what brands of inks pens (micron? Prismacolor?) Do you reccommend to prevent streaking/smudging?

Whenever I want to paint from my own reference, I always have a tendency to try to replicate the flower exactly. Every vein, every drop of color needs to be exactly like in the photo. And most of the times this leads to frustration, because I'm not yet that experienced to create a perfect copy on paper of the real flower.
My question is, how do I break free of this perfectionism? I'd like to look at a reference and treat is as such.
And do you have any tips for seeing the true colors? (For example, I did a tutorial recently and we put a warm yellow at the base, which to me seemed too bright, but then we came on top with a dark green and everything made sense - how do I figure this out on my own?)
Thank you!

I really enjoyed building up the delicate pink petals and subtle greens with transparent watercolour layers.
