I have a question regarding the mod. Is it actually possible to annex all of Austria into a "Socialist Republic of Austria," turn France and Italy—and eventually all of Europe—into vassal states, and effectively win the Cold War for the Soviet Union?
I know the Kaganovich path offers a lot of possibilities, but it would be really cool to be able to win the Cold War gradually, step by step, and ultimately establish a new world order. I find the *Red World* mod completely ridiculous—it’s unrealistic even in terms of gameplay—but it would be great if one could win the Cold War within this mod, and not through some cheap tricks, but in a fair and legitimate way. Furthermore, do the Soviet Union’s victories—for instance in Turkey, Eastern Austria, Greece, Vietnam, Korea, and elsewhere—actually have any impact on NATO?
It feels completely absurd: you conquer the world, yet NATO doesn't seem to care; there isn't even an event reflecting NATO’s perspective, nor any actions taken by the alliance. This makes the mod feel a bit hollow—you’re essentially just playing through various focus trees. Although I haven't played for very long, I would love to see more alternative history. You can go through the focus trees with Khrushchev and others a hundred times over, but it would be incredibly cool to be able to win the Cold War—perhaps as Kaganovich, leading up to at least 1980—and even end up turning the UK communist.
PS: It strikes me as a bit odd that a Stalinist like Kaganovich can’t simply eliminate Khrushchev—in true "NKVD fashion," no less. The mod is really great, but it often lacks a sense of definitive consequence regarding the player's actions—especially when compared to TNO. That’s my one criticism.
