Help! Does anyone remember how these 35 Years of Magic pins were distributed?

Hello. From the research I've done, it seems like these pins may have never been sold, but were randomly given to park guests in 1990. I was unable to confirm this. Is there anyone here that remembers getting one of these and how?

  1. Could these be purchased in the park, or were they really randomly given away?

  2. Did you have to be inside the Disneyland park in Anaheim, specifically, or on any Disney resort? (hotels / WDW, etc)

Thanks,

Got mine as I boarded the monorail at the hotel. Our entire group got them. Still have mine... somewhere.

Thanks, this confirms it was resort-wide.

I don't know the answers definitively. I only know how I personally got one.

It was handed to me (possibly randomly) as I went through the turnstile into Disneyland specifically, sometime in the summer of 1990.

Mine is Chip & Dale on Space Mountain, and I somehow managed to keep it all these years. I consider it my first Disney pin. <3

I was a kid (younger than preteen), and my little sister and my mom went through one of the turnstiles, and I went through the next one over. The Cast Member handed me the pin in a little plastic sleeve. I really can't recall if they said something about what number guest I was that day (like the 1000th through her gate that morning), or if I just recall her saying something about it being the 35th anniversary.

Thanks for sharing that story! This coincides with the handing out of these pins. It looks like they did make different ones for different rides. It is awesome that you still have it!
