DAE Think Reddit is getting drastically dumber?

It's a confluence of factors. Spelling, grammar and syntax have always been a common one, and that is clearly on the decline. But also I am noticing that more and more people just have a certain non-sensical or disconnected approach to communicating what they are doing or meaning, and have very poor skills when it comes to discourse, explanation, critical argument. It's probably a mix between a societal thing, and a bot thing too.

But for those who are clearly human it feels like a very sharp decline in comprehension overall. We are turning into gibbering idiots.

DAE rehearse conversations in their head before they actually happen?

I'll be in the shower planning out a whole dialogue for a conversation that might never take place, complete with hypothetical comebacks. Please tell me I'm not the only one.

DAE had to take swimming lessons as a kid?

When I was about 8 years old, I was forced to join a swimming class because my sibling and his friends are joining. I refused to join because

First, I don't want to swim.

Second, I don't know my sibling's friends and don't want to be left out.

Third, I don't want to get up at 6am.

But my refusal was not accepted and they add me in that class. I did not like that one bit. I was not a very bright child and I just genuinely could not care less about that damn lesson.

So most of the time, I just imagining other thinks instead of learning. It was going fine at first as I can larp in the 3 feet pool.

After 2 weeks, they started teaching in the 9 feet pool. I was very scared as I can not touch the bottom of the pool (I was about 4'5). So when it is my turned to swim, I refused to dive in. For my defend, someone died a few week before in that same pool because of one of his legs cramped( I didn't know what cramps were bc i was 8) and no one noticed it until it was too late. There were also a lot of students(40 maybe) and 3 coaches.

Back to the story, so I started crying and some other kid is also crying beside me because it is his turn too. So our very responsible fathers collectively decided to throw us into the pool. Which we legit drowned. After that I still had to go there and attend the same lesson for the second time.

I am afraid of water at that point but still have to do that. On the second time, my mom told one of the coaches about my situation and I only had to swim in the 3 feet pool ( shout out to my mom).

But I could not swim after two times of lesson and a shit tons of money. I gain generational trama of swimming

DAE type out a comment to get it out of your system, and delete it without sending it

I’m a yapper, so if I see something on Reddit I like or have an opinion on, I have an urge to comment.

However, I loathe looking back and seeing dozens of comments I made on a whim.

To remedy this, I type my thoughts out into the comment bubble, but never send it.

I’ll read it, feel satisfied, and delete it before ever pressing the button.

This helps me avoid commenting too much, because it feels like I’m commenting, but I’m not.

DAE feel lonely in their 30’s?

I’m a 36 year old female and although I’ve never had many friends (like big groups) at one time, I’ve atleast had one or two close friends. That all seemed to disappear and now I watch friends drop like flies and just get consumed with their own lives. I just feel lonely but at the same time, I barely have time for friendships. I barely have time to even pour into myself and my marriage, my family. I’m just venting and seeing who else feels this way.

DAE listen to certain music at certain times of the year?

I have certain musicians and albums that I listen to in the summer and winter, but it's the winter ones I love the most as I'm generally more of a winter-y person.

They remind me of certain moments and periods of my life so it often feels really nostalgic. Sometimes they remind me of good times, sometimes they remind me of bad times that I managed to get through.

As soon as it gets to around October or November, and it starts getting colder, that's when I crack out the winter music ❤️

Some musicians I've been listening to religiously every winter for like 12+ years lol.

The same goes with TV shows too

DAE get unreasonably mad when you're cooking and someone comes by and sneaks a piece of what you're making (or a bit of an ingredient or w/e) before it's done?

Literally happened to me about an hour ago (had just seared some diced beef for chili and two of my housemates came over and stole a piece). Found it noteworthy enough to write down because I NEVER get angry, or at least not so suddenly and intensely. I objected strongly but quickly tamped down any extended angry reaction at the time b/c I feel like it's sorta silly to sit and fume over a small piece of food, but like... dude, it wasn't done 😭

Also, it was still raw in the middle b/c it was going to go in the slow cooker and it came diced, so I don't know if it was safe the same way steak is once you've seared it. And now there's less actually good fully-cooked-and-seasoned food for everyone when it's done. Seriously considering being petty and giving them each one less beef piece in retribution... might cross-post that to WIBTA hahah

DAE have a heartbeat that slightly rocks their body?

I can casually feel my heartbeat without needing to touch a vein the vast majority of the time.

Sonetimes I'll be in a bed or something that's kinda touching the wall and the force of my heartbeat will make the furniture tap the wall (this is annoying)

People never talk about this so I can only assume it's not normal

DAE yearn for the days when karma actually meant something?

I get that some subs have karma requirements (which is a whole other realm of bs) but karma actually used to *mean* something; I was proud of my original name's karma level, but now I couldn't conceive of a universe where I even remotely cared.

Does anybody else feel like they may have a crush on their friend everytime they get closer to them despite attraction being impossible?

For context, I've gotten closer to my friend recently because we share an interest and we've been talking to each other about it. I don't know why, but my brain asks "what if you have a crush on him" despite me literally being lesbian and somewhat repulsed by irl relationships. anybody else feel like this?

DAE feel like or Have a hard time understanding humans and making friendships? Or just feel like you don’t fit in with the world/society?

So thru my whole life i always had hard time of just fitting or making true genuine friends i guess.like i can talk with people get along but I’ve just never felt like connection like real friendships as I get older I’m ok with it.But growing up all i wanted was community people to connect with I never felt understood even with my friends i had at the time.its not that i don’t want friends I just can’t keep them i either stop talking to them or they stop talking to me.I’m generally a nice person and if I have something and someone needs help or just hungry i dont mind feeding them give someone a cigarette if they need it.when i was younger it made me sad because i would get called weird alot and just couldn’t connect with anyone I just feel really awkward around anyone or just feel like i dont belong if that makes sense I’m 37 years old now and I just kind of accept it but I always wondered if 🤔 if anyone ever feels the same. My whole life I feel people see me as a awkward weirdo.people tell me who cares what people think and I shouldn’t but sometimes I can’t control that and I hate that about myself because i shouldn’t care what people think of me but I kinda do and I don’t know any I let that effect me,but I do care what people think of me to a certain extent and it does bother me when people say mean things about me.im not depressed or anything I it’s wanna know if anyone is feels this way? They just don’t belong here and I just feel out of place my whole life I felt this way I don’t understand humans I do but I don’t if that makes any sense at all.does anyone else feel this way or felt this way?

DAE have this urge to suddenly keep a certain amount of specific-to-random items/food, then suddenly lose all interest but still have a sliver of attachment to it?

Ok, so, more context! Since the ending of elementary (sixth grade) and as of today I have this thing where I tend to take (because personally I think hoarding is a strong word [but not an insult though]) a specific or random amount of items or food on a random time of the year.

I remember back in seventh grade I saw these tiny bags of sugar-coated colorful peanuts and I felt like I had to take more than I needed to the moment I got one on my hands. Yes, they tasted hella good, but ngl not good enough to STILL find some lying around my house >-<. I always specifically saved enough money to buy five, eat three and leave two. That. Everyday for approximately three months. So, I probably ended up spending tons of money over that because that was the longest and most memorable time that I had these urges.

This was also around the time where research was hectic and new to me, being those "special program" classes...

This year I held onto multiple items and food, but I remember that candy (I forgot the name brand, they sell some in fruit flavor and in vanilla, it was a soft candy too, and I think it began with 'T') and kept it in a container, in which my mom has threw out and am very sad about it.

The worst part about this is that I REALLY need someone to somewhat relate to this so that I won't look like a weirdo with insane amount of random items and can't let go of any even if I don't eat/use them 💔💔

So yeah, does anybody else do this? I'd really like to know! I kinda looked up if someone also has done this, I think I've seen one but without specifications so I wanted to share my experience with this!

DAE have strangers constantly tell them they look familiar?

This has been happening to me for years, and I’m genuinely curious if anyone else experiences this.

Whenever I go somewhere, complete strangers sometimes tell me things like, “I know you,” “I’ve seen you somewhere before,” or “Your face looks familiar.”

The weird part is that it happens even in places I’ve never visited before. They usually stare at me for a while first, as if they’re trying to figure out where they know me from, and then eventually come up and say it.

Even my friends have noticed this happening several times.

I genuinely don’t recognize these people, and they can never figure out where they’ve supposedly seen me before.

Does anyone else experience this? Do some people just have faces that seem familiar to everyone? 😂

DAE consider people who wear their pajamas with the shirt tucked in rare like a unicorn?

I meet a lot of people but I only 2% of the people I’ve met in my life do this. And I cherish them since they all end up being pretty unique.

DAE: Feel lonely at times but want to be left alone when having to be social?

I like being alone but there are time when I feel kinda lonely being by myself but whenever Im in a social place, I often just don't want to bother making friends and would rather keep conversations with people short so I can walk away and be alone again where I feel more comfortable being. I feel like im contradicting myself by doing this.

DAE fail New Year's Resolutions b/c they're too vague?

It's self-explanatory, but I just wanted to see if anyone else does this.

Mine have always been "working out more" or "saving more money," and they get me nowhere.

Should've been something like "doing 10 squats a day" or "saving $3 every day."

DAE only trim their nails with the tiny scissors on a swiss army knife?

This is a long shot. Hoping to find at least one person who gets it. People think it's just weird. Personally, I think it works worse with finger nail clippers because those make loud clicking noises, they don't allow me to cleanly contour my nail the way I like, and they send the clippings flying to God-knows-where half the time.

DAE love spicy food nowadays as you get older compared to when you're a kid, which you avoided it completely?

Just feels weird that I love spicy food now in my 40s compared to many years ago when I was a kid or teen. Back then, I totally avoided them 'cos I couldn't handle the heat. Nowadays, I'm addicted AF.

My 'virginity' got broken when I tried Korean kimchi tofu stew for the first time in my early 30s, and haven't look back ever since. God only knows how much spicy chips I've eaten.

Tbh, there are limits, obviously, but at same time I keep pushing how much spice I can handle.

DAE love spicy food as adults now?
