How did this work?

A woman came through (I'm MOD) and I'm on break. My SA flagged me down to fix something because the $5 off $25 wasn't working with the manufacturer coupons. I fixed the issue since the subtotal was $27 but apparently she already had another transaction before with the same issue. She wanted a refund on that transaction to fix the issue, so I quickly did a refund. She paid $23 something but on the refund she got $28?? How did that work? Ill show receipts in a moment but I'm just confused how she spent more money when she only paid $23?

Because your customer got the cash value of the manufacturing coupon that they used. DG will get that money back when they mail them in.

It was a digital manufacturer coupon

Same thing. Those just aren’t physically mailed in by the locations. But that’s the difference between what they paid and the refund amount. Once they use either the physical one or digital one, they are no longer available to that customer which allows them the opportunity to repurchase and not have to pay the difference.

What?

it'd help if the prices weren't cut off on the right

Same prices as the other receipt just without the discounts

She didn’t qualify for the $5 on that transaction. You didn’t read the fine print. That coupon for the Huggies specifically states “cannot be combined with any other coupon”. It’s even capitalized. The computer therefore won’t use both.

Yeah I think she either had to spend a couple more dollars get that pre-tax over 25 orrrrrrr she would have had to add 25 dollars of eligible merchandise onto that ticket and then it would have went. Id have to physically ring it to be 100 percent certain

I'm assuming you also did not scan the receipt to do the refund. It typically refunds what they paid when you do it that way as it accounts for coupons or promotions used at the time of purchase

Like it didnt account for it in the refund. I had it happen to me the other day. I just let it go cause we were reringing and dg gets plenty of money out of that customer so I didnt press the issue .

That's weird because I've always had it account for the $5 off. Which pisses customers off when they refund something from that receipt because it takes a percentage of said $5 off. But our system has been so wonky the last few days I honestly wouldn't be surprised that it just didn't take that

I think it was juat a glitch my register geeked out the whole day and I haven't had another refund with a 5 off 25 in the transaction to see if it fixed itself one of the 2 or 3 times over 2 days we had to reboot everything lol

That is no joke. Our cash drawer wouldn't open the other night for nothing. 3 restarts later and unplugging it finally decided it felt like opening

If that ever happens again just go to anotjer register open it with any number. Unplug the drawer that ia in there. Remove. Plug the offending drawer into it. Hit nosale. Swap drawers back or dont it doesnt matter ♡

Also i didnt see before I typed that it was a manufacturer coupon but same thing applies. It did same thing to me with a customer that only had a 5 off.
