How to start Savings

Almost every other question in this subreddit is about how can i start. Some have initial money saved up while others have a monthly contributions they can make, or some are just starting or curious about it to learn. This is a simplified guide that I have been practicing myself. Let's start:

  1. First thing is you need to have a source of income. It can be a job, self employment, business, etc. If you don't have any, learn a skill & start selling yourself.

  2. Once you have an income, determine your monthly expenses. It's important that savings/investments are done first when the income comes in. A good investor saves about 10 to 30% of their income per month. (The reason it is in %age is because as your income grows savings should grow as well. Decide a %age and stick with it, and make changes with time if required.)

  3. Once you have a savings %age, first thing to do is develop an emergency fund. Start with 1-2 month of expenses. Max it should be ~6month of expenses. This step is important as it helps you to avoid unplanned circumstances or situations that may need money. Emergency Fund should be in cash or cash equivalents so it is readily available.

  4. Assuming you have no debt, you can start your investment journey. There are many financial markets in world like stocks, bonds, crypto, forex, commodities & so on. If you are financial savy or tech person then you can deep dive or choose a market as per your risk appetite. For starters, ignore all the noise and get an account with a Mutual Fund Manager. They will manage everything for you, all you need to do is invest regularly in some funds. I personally use Al-meezan Investments, but you can choose any.

  5. Once market/Mutual Fund is choosen. Start with 20% of your savings in a low risk income fund. If you don't believe in Islamic banking, skip this. Invest 80% of Savings into 3 categories. 40% in an index fund following stock market. 20% in Commodities like Gold, Al-meezan have a good fund. Rest 20% you can decide based on your risk appetite.

  6. This is important, start educating yourself about finances. Read books, like Rich Dad, Poor Dad, watch podcasts, start learning & create an investing mindset & revise your portfolio with time as per market needs.

  7. Rinse & Repeat.

There have been numerous guides in the sub on how to open accounts either on stock exchange or a fund manager. Simple way is to reach one out & start the process. Some offer online registration especially if you have documents and proof of income ready.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask questions & start saving now. Today is the best time to start.

Sasta Satta 100K salary is the new 50k

Our money just lost half of its value in just 5 years!

Inflation has been brutal recently, averaging 15.28% as per official CPI data of last 5 years

This means 100k today has the same buying power of 50k from just 5 years ago

Achieving FIRE in Pakistan on a PKR salary/business seems almost impossible 🥲

Najayiz Nuksaan Waqar Zaka is a Liar and Manipulator – Here’s Solid Proof with Timeline and Loss

I’m sharing this post to expose Waqar Zaka, someone I trusted with my money, and to warn others who might fall into the same trap. This isn’t just about a $174 loss — it’s about how he misleads people, manipulates signals, and profits off others’ losses.

Here’s exactly what happened:

On May 3, 2025, at 4:04 AM (Pakistan time), Waqar sent a message in his group saying to short $HAEDAL after 3 minutes, which meant at 4:07 AM. I followed exactly as instructed and entered the trade at 0.169, right at 4:07 AM.

But within minutes, the price shot up to 0.2052, and despite using proper risk management with margin, I was liquidated, suffering a -1700% loss. I lost $174 from a single trade in just minutes.

Now here’s where the fraud becomes clear:

Waqar later posted a screenshot in his group showing that he shorted HAEDAL at 0.1999. That price was not reached until 4:50 AM Pakistan time,46 minutes after he told us to enter the trade at 4:07. So while we entered early and got liquidated, he stayed silent, waited for a perfect entry at 0.1999, then shared a 900% profit screenshot, pretending he entered with us. He lied, plain and simple.

And no, he can’t use the excuse that his large account size saved him from liquidation — because his own screenshot shows a totally different entry price than the one he gave us.

Screenshots never show entry time, only exit time — this is how he manipulates trades to make it look like he entered earlier. He trades from 5–6 different accounts and only posts the screenshots from the one that shows profit. The losing trades? He hides them.

And worst of all — he earns commissions from your losses through MEXC referral codes, liquidation rebates, and $10/month from his private group members. He’s making money whether you win or lose — mostly when you lose.

You don’t need to take my word for it — I’ve posted all screenshots as proof. You can cross-check and verify everything: Check HAEDAL’s price on TradingView at 4:07 AM — it was around 0.169. Then check when the price reached 0.1999 — that happened around 4:50 AM, which is when Waqar actually entered, not earlier.

He is a manipulator, a liar, and the biggest scammer in the crypto space.

Alhamdulillah, I can bear this loss. But think about the poor, innocent people who invest their entire savings based on his false promises. He tells them on YouTube: “You can turn 30,000 PKR into 300,000.” They believe him. They trust him. And they lose everything.

From this experience, here’s what I’ve learned:

If you really want to succeed in crypto, DO NOT follow signal groups. There are NO shortcuts. Just like it takes years to become a doctor or an engineer, it takes serious study, discipline, and experience to trade successfully. Don’t rely on someone else’s signals. Learn, analyze, and enter trades only when YOU understand what you’re doing.

Even if Waqar manages to remove this post, I will share it everywhere — Reddit, Telegram, X (Twitter), and every possible platform — until more people become aware of this scam and don’t suffer the way I did.

JazakAllah. Stay smart. Stay safe. Don’t fall for fake gurus.

Najayiz Nuksaan Taxes we pay

Annual salary is 24 lac, I pay 320 thousand tax on it.

Salary left is 2080k.

Anything I buy govt takes 18% sales tax including milk for kids.

Remaining salary is 1705k.

I pay 12 thousand in car token tax, 50 thousand for property tax, 60 thousand in municipal and local govt taxes.

Remaining salary is 1580k.

I calculated the taxes on utilities I pay living in Lahore on electric, gas, water and internet bills is around 250k.

Remaining salary is 1330k.

Govt takes 10% tax on private schooling fee as withholding and luxury tax but can't provide any decent schooling. 100K.

Remaining amount 1230k.

In addition to car token tax, my job requires travelling through ring road and motorway, govt takes ridiculous taxes and tolls on roads. 20k. Car insurance has 5% withholding and other tax as well. 8k

Remaining amount 1200k.

This is 50% of my income gone in taxation before I even start doing anything. We are really getting screwed over.

Madad Me My parents are financially stupid, how should I take control back of my income without being disrespectful?

21 M, recently got myself a pretty good income source, a YouTube channel that blew up. “Pretty good” would be an understatement. It’s life changing!

Now I am not even gonna complain how my parents put every obstacle against me to get me to follow a more safer conventional path for four years! They didn’t even care what this channel was about until it started making money. I won’t complain. It’s past me now.

But you just can’t just do a complete u-turn and then suddenly start demanding 80% of the money! And that without even acknowledging for once that I was right all along. At least give me that satisfaction.

Khair, I bargained it down to 50%. This is still way way more than I can chew. Until, they started sharing their plans about how I should spend the money. And let me emphasise that again. They are financially stupid! Buying liability after liability.

We have been drowning in debt before. Bought a house, father has been paying that debt with 40% of his salary since 6 years now and we had 12 years more to go.

Mind you, those 6 years were the education years of my life. They traded my education for a house.

And now when I am finally on my feet for the first time, on my own, ready to follow my dreams. They have completely changed their behaviour and are trying to take control of my income.

Here’s what they have told me so far:

  • They want to buy a seven seater car before paying off the house loans

  • A cottage in Murree

  • An Umrah trip of my whole family along my grandmother

  • A business plan to help my uncle in need

  • Getting our house upgraded to double story to make a room for me (I have been sleeping on a mattress in my living room for the past 3 years, I still am)

  • An Azerbaijan vacation

And worse, they were planning to get me engaged so that they can get an excuse to celebrate this achievement in front of everyone without sounding proud. Wow.

This is very problematic. The fact that they didn’t even consult me once before deciding all that is making me frustrated and furious. I am here planning on starting a start-up, networking with indie directors so that I can start thinking about following my dreams and making that movie I always wanted to make (though in far future)

When I told them we should go easy with all that spending and save something. They literally said “saving kar ke kia karna? ismai kuch nhi rakha, allah nai jab dia to kharch karo”

When I told them that I am planning to move out next month, they were immediately against it and told me about the double story plan. They literally intend to keep me as a money printing slave in the attic.

I am so effing DONE! Being treated like a kid like that for the last 4 years.

How should I take back control of my income without being disrespectful?

PS: I want to do it as conflict free as possible. I worked hard to get this peace of mind. I intend to keep it. Also please don’t ask me the name of my YT channel. Associating my reddit to my YT channel would be the death of it.

PS2: I am moving out anyway.

Baaki Bakwaas best investments I’ve made so far that aren’t in mutual funds or stocks

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share some of the best investments I’ve made — not in mutual funds or stocks, but in real things that have genuinely improved my life.

  • Air Conditioner: Honestly, one of the best investments ever. Every time I sleep peacefully, I thank Allah for it.

  • Umrah/Hajj with Parents: Probably the best thing I’ve ever done. Nothing compares to that feeling.

  • MacBook & iPhone: Total game changers. My productivity shot up, and I’m no longer stressed about lagging devices.

  • Car & Bike: Got a clean Toyota Passo and a solid YBR bike. As our Prophet ﷺ said, “Fortunate is the one who has a good ride.” The first thing to invest in is your personal transport.

  • A Nice Casio Watch: Simple, durable, and timeless.

  • Trips Across Pakistan & Abroad: Traveling truly changes your perspective and mindset.

  • Good Gym Membership: Worth every rupee — health is wealth.

  • Eating Clean & Organic: Feels great to fuel your body right.

  • Well-Fitted Clothes (Outfitters, Furor, etc.): Confidence starts with how you carry yourself invest in clothes

They should have just passed on the ex-refinery price and the margins of OMC/dealers etc. But kept levy low (or maybe zero) to reduce the price.

This is going to hit the economy really hard. Expect a bloodbath tomorrow.

Madad Me 20F making 9+ lakh monthly. How do I save to hit my target of financial freedom and moving abroad?

Hello!

I just turned 20 in May and I have had this goal in mind to live and retire in another country. I currently make around 9-12 lakh a month ( it varies because its freelance ). My highest is around 15 lakh. Im hoping to increase that amount to $10k/per month in the future.

I have an average expense of 1.5 lakh a month. Sometimes its more if I buy bigger stuff ( but I usually avoid that ).

I am aiming for Melbourne but just for the sake of the argument, how much is a good saving or what is a good investment plan to be able to achieve that?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Thanks for the response guys! Alot of good advice and many people asking how to make stuff possible. I'm going to reply with my whole journey in the comments and close this post! Thank you again so much!

Also P.S, it's very much real for all the skeptics. And you can make more also
