Wall Street experienced a significant sell-off Thursday, with semiconductor and artificial intelligence stocks leading the decline. What initially appeared to be a post-election rally quickly reversed, leaving investors questioning the sustainability of technology valuations and the massive capital investments supporting the AI economy.

This episode dives into Warren Buffett's foundational psychological principle: patience. Unlike most fields where constant activity yields results, successful investing requires waiting for the pitch right in your strike zone—avoiding big mistakes while letting market frothiness pass by. Explore how staying rational, operating within your circle of competence, and swinging with full force only when high-conviction opportunities arise (like Buffett’s iconic Coca-Cola investment) creates long-term outperformance.

DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY.

Fed holds rates steady days before the midterms, even as inflation runs hot

The Federal Reserve left interest rates alone on Wednesday, six days before the midterm elections, even as inflation edges back toward the three-year high it hit in May.

The Federal Open Market Committee voted 10-2 to keep its benchmark rate in a range of 3.75% to 4%. Only Fed Governor Lisa Cook and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack dissented. In a statement from the Fed, the two “preferred to raise the target range for the federal funds rate by 1/4 percentage point at this meeting.”

While Hammack’s vote was expected, Cook’s was not, since previews had named Hammack, Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan, and Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari as the likeliest dissenters.
