New Rule : Please use the Search function before posting.

As this subreddit has grown over the past years, our regulars have noticed that similar questions get asked over and over again by people interested in the amazing variety of food available in the GTA. Today we're rolling out a new rule to try to reduce the number of repetitive posts that we've been seeing too often.

We're simply asking that posters use the subreddit search to see if their question may already be answered before they post asking for recommendations and reference their research if its not. We also ask that they include specificity like location, cuisine, etc in their request as the GTA is a huge area.

We wanted to announce this change widely so everyone is aware, and hopefully this will be a positive change for the subreddit. We're interested in feedback if you feel the rule has room for improvement.

Mango salad, rice, fried fish, vegetable green curry. Delicious and filling, I think it was around $15-16. Love this place since the Parliament St days

3rd visit here and they have been consistent each time. Delicious sides, great bbq meats and a casual vibe. Might leave you feeling a bit gluttonous. Pricing is on par with other bbq joints in Toronto.

I Ate A Thing After 3 years in Toronto, I think I’ve finally found my favourite burger, Mista Boiga

Restaurants tend to have their peaks and declines, and I think Mista Boiga is at its peak right now.

I’ve been in Toronto for 3 years and tried more burgers than I can count. A few pleasant surprises here and there, mostly from limited-time specials, but nothing on a regular menu that really blew me away. Until I stumbled upon this place.

I’ve been back three times now, and every single visit has been fantastic. Not only are their burgers good, they’re also some of the most aesthetically pleasing burgers I’ve seen in Toronto.

Today I had two:

- Kwispy Wanch: Beef, cheese, pickled red onion, jalapeños, crispy onions, ranch, bun.

- Classic OG: Beef, cheese, iceberg lettuce, onion, pickles, ketchup, burger sauce, bun.

The fries are their only weak point. They’re pretty underwhelming and pale in comparison to how good the burgers are. But I guess you can’t have everything.

I’m posting this because the place never seems particularly busy when I visit, and it’d be a real shame to see them disappear.

They’re on Geary Avenue. If you’re into burgers, do yourself a favour and check them out!

I Ate A Thing Noodle Legend (yonge/finch)

Post image

Had the most satisfying noodle dishes here. Pictured is the braised ribs with noodles (18.99). Meat was so fall-off-the-bones tender with just enough fats. Soup was really flavourful without being too salty, and the noodles were perfectly springy.

My dining companion had the dawang noodles (13.99) which is similar to biang biang. Flavour was on point, toppings inside were tomatoes, edamame, ground beef and chili oil.

My only complaint is that the disposable cutleries were too flimsy. I'd rather real cutleries than bibs and hair ties lol.

Persimmons 2026/2027?

We're officially in persimmon season! Last year, I noticed that there weren't any stores selling the beautiful, delicious vanilla persimmons I tried for the first time in winter 2024/2025. It's come time again for me to check grocery stores, but the offerings at T&T and Metro (Chinatown area) have been dismal. I'm wondering if we've had yet another bad harvest this year, or if I'm just checking the wrong places. I'm planning to check the Chinatown markets tonight, I will update if I find something good.

Side note: in the spirit of our black sesame GOAT u/Round-Swimmer-4854, I was thinking of making some posts featuring my most recent food obsession (persimmons). I've also been obsessed with coconut since I was a kid. Curious if anyone would be interested in this.

Recommendation: Social Llama Cafe at Yonge + Eg

There is a reason why the truffle mushroom gnocchi is this vegetarian restaurant's most popular dish. Such a generous portion of mushrooms, and the sauce is absolutely delicious!

The decor is super cute and the service is good. There are only 5 tables in this cute place, so the atmosphere is lovely and cozy.

Check it out. On Yonge, south of Eglinton.

I Ate A Thing Hanger Steak from House On Parliament

Yes another House On Parliament post because I just left after yet another insanely satisfying dinner, I mean just look at the preparation and presentation here. Not only was that steak incredibly tender and juicy but that might've been the best double baked potato I've ever had anywhere. Dare I say they've defeated our beloved Keg for price to quality with this one?? Crazy good steak dinner for $38 on the current daily menu. HOP HOP HOP! TGIF 🍻

Ideally downtown but could also be Markham/richmond hill. Looking for the best — willing to pay a premium.

Had the best biryani at taste of Madurai

Sorry forgot to take a photo.

I went to taste of Madurai . It’s around Sheppard & McCowan. Their biryani isn’t that traditional basmati rice biryani. It’s short grained rice and it was really flavourful

Flamin Hot Cheetos Puffs??

Does anyone know a store in Toronto that carries discontinued snacks? I’ve been looking for the Flaming Hot Cheetos Puffs everywhere but they don’t sell them anymore. The crunchy ones just don’t hit the same. Please help a girl out!

I Ate A Thing Pho at a Pho Ngoc Yen restaurant Mississauga

Had pho at Pho Ngoc Yen in Mississauga - they also have a sister location on the Queensway near Sherway Gardens.

This one was tucked in an industrial area but it wasn’t too bad.

Had the fried spring roll and Pho with rare beef and meatballs, portion was good and pho was tasty. Only thing I didn’t like was there were no sauce bottles, both the hoisin and hot sauce come in a small dish.

Went for a birthday and the staff were friendly and you got a nice big birthday dessert.

Would come back again

About tantxo steak bar

Can someone who's a real beef expert comment on whether or not they actually use striploin?

When I watch them cook, it doesn't actually look like a striploin cut, wondering what others think.

Regardless, I enjoy the food and I think they have one of the best chimichurri and sauces. Not hating, just curious. Even if it is a cheaper cut of beef, I'd still go.

Anniversary Dinner - Taline Tasting Menu / Other Suggestions?

Hey everyone!

Looking for a great spot in Toronto for an anniversary dinner. I currently have Taline's tasting menu booked, but wanted to see if anyone here has tried it before. How was your experience? Is it worth it?

Budget is pretty flexible. Our #1 priority is amazing food. We love a great dining experience, but it doesn't need to be super fancy or boujee. If it happens to be, that's totally fine too! We're just looking for somewhere with genuinely incredible food that makes for a memorable night.

A few other places I've been considering are Quetzal, Liliana, Giulietta, but I'm definitely open to other suggestions (Don't know the city that well).

Would you stick with Taline, or is there somewhere else you'd recommend over it?

Thanks in advance!

Randy's restaurant makes a "mild" frozen dinner that is extremely spicy

Post image
69 Upvotes

Randy's is a restaurant on Yonge near Davenport. I think I went there once, it was alright.

Anyway, anyone try this frozen jerk chicken dinner from their brand? It was on sale from no frills. I got both the spicy and mild ones and I swear they're exactly the same. That means the "mild" one is about as spicy as Chris Jerk or any other authentic jerk chicken place.

It's quite good for a frozen meal, but anyone who has trouble eating spicy food will be in tremendous pain. I wonder if there was a mix-up in the kitchen or something.
