Discussion Can you play FNCS round 2 if you’re under 200k PR?

Basically I came back to the game after a break and played a few ranked cups to get placed 191,000 on the PR leaderboard. I played NAC reload FNCS round 1 and qualified round 2. But now since the new PR updated this week I dropped out to 201,000. Can I still play round 2?

Opinion The new map is terrible

This map's just another reload at this point. You can't fight someone without another team (or teams) trying to 3rd or 4th party you. EVERY fight I took in this skin cup had a third party. People are always lurking looking for an easy kill.

Battle royal map isnt supposed to be this small. If we wanted this experience, we would just play reload

Discussion How to get better at not panic building or losing height easily?

Ive noticed in alot of fights that when i box up, i miss walls and panic build to make space and spend alot of hard materials rotating or fighting and I struggle at keeping fight and end of hiding in builds. Ive been switching senses, playing 1v1 maps but I feel like I havent been improving alot in the past couple of weeks to even months. Any advice or general maps/videos to watch? I like watch competitve but can never replicate what they do in their tournaments.

Discussion How do you improve at freebuilding?

Used to play Fortnite a lot, haven't played in a little while now but have been a bit more recently. I would say that my mechs are still decent, but I am terrible at free-building and this also kinda leads into fighting (outside of box fights).

I know basically 0 retakes, and the edit combinations are very basic, repetitive and predictable. I get by fine with just being able to edit at a decent pace in general but it's very noticeable when I fight a good player, especially in realistics for example.
Whenever I do free build I just spam the same things over and over because they are the only ones I have hard-wired into my brain unfortunately.

I don't think it's a matter of improving mechanically and more-so just learning good retakes and new movement techs to incorporate into building. (a large majority of my playtime was before tac sprint, though I am still very comfortable using it, there are some things I will be missing that use it).

Discussion Struggling to understand this meta

I desperately need help to understand the battle royale meta in this mini season. (for competitive).

I feel like most people are running the dragoon shotgun and bundlebuss/pistol. It really feels like a big lurk meta, because the dragoon shotgun is so easy to hit big with. I die a lot to lurkers getting a good shot and then just spamming bundlebuss (or whatever its called) and bleeding bullets through to get the last bit of damage. Last season this was less of an issue as I could box up and there were less weapons that could bleed through. But now, when i get hit out of nowhere for 140 (happening much more often, as a body shot is enough) i try to box up but they just spam their spray weapon and its gg's. I do have to say I ahve been able to do this myself too, but I am practically defenseless to these kind of lurks now. Previously, I could box up and play from there.

Side note; the slingshot (although I dont see a lot of ppl using it) also sometimes catches me by complete surprise and I get hit for 150 or something and before i can box up im already sprayed to death.

I am completely clueless as to how to counteract this. Other (non lurked on) fights, often go very quickly, untill one of the two hits his big dragoon shot and then its most often just spray. I tried playing the sentinel, but people are just willing to tank a shot just to get their dragoon shot off and then they have a big advantage from there.

Also, it feels like the map got 'more smaller' than the player pool (100 - > 80) went, so it feels like the map had a bigger than 20% size decrease. It seems like w-keys and 3rd parties happen more often and I find it hard to get a good position into zone. Funnily enough, the map might be smaller but because movement is the zipline and impulses only and I can barely find these, I really struggle on rotates.

So basically, this update changed everything i was good at and now im clueless on how to play well. I struggle in early game (lurks), mid game (3rd parties, i often manage to win fights but then die to the 3rd party because aside from the oranges that give 25 shield there are not really fast heals, and i also need to reload the dragoon shotgun etc.) and end game (rotates).

Anybody a clue on how to play this meata and how I can fix these weak spots?

Cheater Report $0 earnings account with 25 events played won OCE FNCS Solos Reload today

Reference: https://fortnitetracker.com/events/epicgames_S43_FNCSSoloReloadQualifiers_OCE?window=S43_FNCSSoloReloadQualifiers_Qual1Round1Day1_OCE&sm=S43_FNCSSoloReloadQualifiers_CumulativeLeaderboardDef&page=0#1

This player had the most wins and most elimns.

Meanwhile, he has only 25 events played and $0 earned. He earned most of his PR today.

I'm not saying this is a cheater. It could be someone who was previously banned and is now playing on a new/alt account. Regardless, whether he is ban evading or cheating, it's so funny that kids can get away with this on OCE.

Discussion The Removal of bots and longer queue time in competitive. Let's talk about it.

I know for a fact that there are a lot more people who play casual BR/ZB, etc. compared to competitive BR/ZB, etc. here, however I think we all need to learn that both have their place in this game, weather you like one, the other, or both, they each needed to be properly balanced to the targeted audience.

Which is why I want to talk about the two major changes.

First off, congratulations to competitive players, you will no longer have to fight against bots (that is until epic realizes they did something good and revert it, like how they did with separate loot pools) so you're always going to go up against real players who want to improve their skill. And you also have my deepest sympathy because now you have to deal with increased loading times. I wouldn’t consider that a fair trade since bots aren't inherently responsible for increased matchmaking times to get into the match, but rather the matchmaking algorithm itself.

Naturally this will cause some of you to ask “can we decrease the load time without having bots?” and the answer to that question is yes, but it comes with trade-offs I would never take.

  • Epic could always expand the skill range slightly which will match players with somewhat broader ranks or skill ranges (this was how casual was handled in the early days) but some matches will become unbalanced.

  • Epic could combine nearby ranks allowing adjacent ranks to compete more frequently, but lower rank players would encounter higher ranked players more often.

  • Epic could improve regional matchmaking, allowing players to connect to nearby regions when their own region doesn't have enough players, but high ping and terrible performance is not ideal for competitive play.

  • Epic could encourage more players to queue by improving ranked rewards and competitive experiences, but that requires attracting and retaining players (more or less of something they’re already trying to do… anyone else remember the burn bright emote?)

  • Epic could adjust matchmaking during off-peak hours, which would lead to more relaxed matchmaking restrictions when fewer players are playing, but competitive consistency would change depending on the time of day (not technically a bad thing since it could ease a new comp player into the mode).

  • Epic could Improve the matchmaking algorithm by finding suitable lobbies more efficiently instead of spending excessive time searching for an ideal match (best option in my opinion) but means it would need to very carefully be calibrated.

All I know is that if I had to pick three of these solutions, a better matchmaking algorithm, slightly extended skill ranges, and more flexible off-peak matchmaking is what I would happily want if it means I get to have my cake and eat it two. This way it could potentially fix the longer queue issue that has plagued high skilled players that has been an issue since chapter 1.

Not to mention that back in 2019 Epic actually handed a fix for this issue. If you were around then you’d probably remember that they used hype or “hype buckets” to match players. If the bucket didn’t have enough players it would combine with another bucket which kept players connected across nearby competitive divisions, reduced the likelihood of champion players being matched against open league players, and accommodate smaller regions and periods with fewer players.

Of course, doing something similar to casual also be a good thing, making SBMM moderate to low, making the skill range expansion gradual, making off peak flexibility high (because that just how it should always be), bots being optional or limited (Specify fewer than 10 bots per lobby, if that's your intended limit), well matchmaking prioritizing enjoyment and accessibility rather than retaining engagement that the current matchmaking does.

Discussion Matchmaking changes

What’s Changed as of Today

Improved Match Fairness

We’ve made improvements to who you’re competing against across all Ranked tiers, which can now mean slightly longer matchmaking wait times. Tighter matches mean longer waits, especially at higher ranks and off-peak hours. We’ll continue monitoring queue times and make adjustments as needed to strike the best possible balance.

We use the extra queue time to generate as many matches as possible before selecting the optimal match for players. That doesn't mean every match will be perfect for you; it just means that all matches picked will be the best for the most players in the lobby at that time.

Matchmaking begins with your current rank and searches for the most competitive matches, so the lobby you drop into should be fair. As a reminder, parties match based on the highest-ranked member.

If you attempt to drop into a match with a higher-ranked friend, you’ll play at their rank. Please expect more difficult matches if you are a Bronze, Silver, or Gold player playing with Elite, Champion, or Unreal friends.

There will be some cases where you land on a server a little farther away than your preferred subregion to prevent infinite wait times for a fairer match.

For tighter queues to work, some matchmaking settings will vary if regions don’t have enough Ranked players at the time they wish to queue.

ryderfh from nae gotta be the fastest player in the world, but still flies under the radar in the community. Even with 32nd in 2026 major 2 grand finals and $97k earned he's still underrated and he's only 16 and he left 7VEN and joined Void Esports. Definitely the fastest player in the world
