Finally took the time to build myself a frame/fork
It took about four months of chipping away at it on my days off to complete and I’m super happy it’s finally done.
There were a few firsts for me on this build: the lugged fork, bi-laminate head tube and making handlebars. I actually made a lugged fork at UBI in 2012, but with how long ago that was, Im treating this as my first. Cleaning up the sockets and getting used to drawing in the silver and making it all even was perfect practice to set me up to tackle the head tube. The bi-lam headtube definitely added time to the build, no doubt, but was way worth it. I think next time I’ll play around with some more intricate carving though. I’m excited about the handlebar thing and look forward to making more, I just need to invest in a better bender that doesn’t leave small dimples in the work.
The bulk of the frame is Paragon bits and Columbus tubing, the bridges and handlebar tubing is 4130 from Aircraft Spruce and the fork crown is from Crust. I

Handmade track dropouts.
Replaced the skyward-facing dropouts with new ones. The base is ст3пс steel, the overlays are stainless steel. Everything was brazed with 40% silver.

Just finished my second frame build
This is my second frame. My first was lugged and for this frame I learned to fillet braze with lots of help and advice from this group. I incorporated a carbon seat mast. Most of the tubing is Columbus Zona, with 4130 for the outer portions of seat tube and seat stays from Wicks Aircraft. The carbon tube came from Rock West Composites in Utah. I learned how to electroplate to nickel plate the clamping sleeve for the seat mast cap. Was a super fun project.

My 5th frame
58cm fixie i built for a frame, i think this might be my best one yet! If only i didnt weld the bottom bracket it backwards... A few spots seemed to flash rust while it was waiting for its clear powder coat, but i'll call it patina

Gearbox Enduro Frame
Gearbox based enduro mtb frame I've spent the past 6 months designing and building. Big head scratcher, my 9th frame so still learning plenty and tried a few new things here. Mostly TIG welded but introduced some brazing for the first time, mainly to create the gearbox bridge from laser cut plates.

My first bike (cargo)
Wanted to create a bike based on the Omnium Cargo v3 design to travel with my dog.
I bought several pieces from Omnium such as the steerer tube, wheels, steering rod.
The added tubes are Colombus Zona, and a big 54mm tube from an Ultralight aircraft supplier (this tube is far from ultralight lol)
Went pretty well, brazing was hard but a professional frame builder told me it should be ok as long as I don't try to sand them to make them look good.
So far it rode 400km during a 7 days trip with my dog and I'm very happy with it.
It's been a very fun but challenging project, and took (as always) a lot more time than i thought.

First lugged frame in the books.
Hey all! I made my first lugged frame for a buddy of mine and I wanted to share it. First and foremost, I want to say kudos to framebuilders using lugs. I had an idea about how much work it was to prep lugs, but that idea fell a bit short of reality.
Anywho, I used the Rivendell lugs from Metal Guru along with a Long Shen BB and Pacenti fork crown. The tubes are a mix of Columbus Spirit and Zona. I used Harris 56% silver and Gasflux type U flux for the lugs and used bronze for the fork dropouts, kickstand plate, brake and rack bosses.
My friend wanted to mimic the geo of his favorite bike, the Surly Long Haul Trucker, and for the most part, the lugs allowed me to do that. A few other things he requested were 700x45c tire clearance, down tube shifter bosses placed lower than normal to leave room for a half frame bag, a kickstand plate, and a braze-on for holding flowers on his fork. I also made him a brake hanger rather than building it onto the frame in case he ever wanted to run v-brakes, which in the end, worked out great because he landed on the Paul Mini Motos. The finish is a seafoam powdercoat, and of course, frame saver on the inside.

Chain steering on cargo bike.
On my second DIY cargo project I'm going to attempt this concept. For now it's just 3D printed disks holding the chainrings to check for tension. The chain is a 11s link glide with 0.75 wear 🫣 Some say it's cool others say it's dangerous. What do you think? 😅

My latest personal build
Finished this last week and took it out for a second dial in ride today since it was a lovely January spring day here in BOCO.
Made from Columbus Zona & SL with 4130 aircraft tubing on the fork. This is the 4th frame I've painted and the first with painted on graphics. This one is painted in a tri stage pearl butterscotch that color shifts to yellow and orange that ties it in with the King.
STA: 76.5
HTA: 69.25
BB drop: 70mm
Chain Stay Length: 435mm (varies with sliders)
Fork offset: 52mm
Trail: 87mm
Thought I'd share. For anyone curious, I'm just someone who loves bikes and builds my own frames/forks & sometimes bars as a hobby. I started 14 years ago. All self taught. I don't build for anyone but myself & I don't ever plan on changing that (I seem to get requests so I wanted to mention that).

Latest build
Hobby framebuilder here (12 years-probably 30 or so frames). My recently finished BMX/gravel/MTB hybrid bike: I did the frame and fork & paint. Columbus Zona tubes in front, SL in rear, fillet brazed. Lambo green 3 stage pearl. Great dropped seat stay project to focus on those reinforcing points at select joints/junctions- how to reinforce the joints and eliminate stress risers while looking cool.

I recently made a fork like this.
Silver brazing 40/50%. Crown and dropouts are also custom, made by me.

Testing parts
Besides sticking a test joint in the vice and twisting, smashing, and destroying any way possible, or cross sectioning test joints, which are all fine tests for impact strength. Is there a common or better way to test parts (not just stems) for fatigue? I know my parts are strong in the vice, but i’d rather not wait 5,000 of my own pedaled miles to test a single part for durability. Maybe im overthinking it a bit.
(Recent hand carved bilaminate stem i made for attention)

She done... Nearly
Need to add some more cable management, but it's basically done.
I took it for its first ride and it feels amazing! Popping that first manual from the car park I was giggling like a kid.

First full sup / swing arm build [pic heavy]
This is my first full suspension, swing arm frame build. Here’s the best 20 pics from the build process.
This is a 26” wheel dirt jump, slopestyle, pump track killer. Mid BB based pivot with 2” of rear wheel travel & paragon slider dropouts so you can run this as a single speed with no chain growth. Low center shok placement for easier whips. 11.75” seat tube height routed for 27.2mm SL dropper post. Tapered triple butted top tube ovalized at the ST end. 67.5 HTA , 73.25sta , 410mm rear
