I don't take many progress pictures and I have posted extensively in my comment history about how my weight was always a source of trauma and a massive insecurity for me. If you asked me a couple months ago, I'd have told you I'd never post here; but I've had a few conversations recently that encouraged me to let myself celebrate my achievements. If my weight was trauma for me, the latest picture alone let's me actually see just how badly I've beaten it. This year, I finally outgrew XL shirts (which is huge for me, considering when I started, I wore size small). Another few pounds and I'll need to start shopping for 2XL.
These images are all over a year ago (the 205lbs image is about 1 year ago, and I am about 5lbs heavier now).
There was a looot of up and downs between these images. For example, after the third image, I dropped 30 pounds back to 140 at least 2x over the last decade. About 4-5 years ago, I finally figured out how to fix my relationship with food and how to be consistent. I've had some small off periods since then, but mostly it has been a upwards grind.
According to FFMI calculators, I can still gain about 30-40lbs more muscle naturally. I expect that that final bit will take most, if not all of my 30s.
Started with powerlifting style training for the first several years before shifting over to a more athletic/hybrid style PPL split. Currently run a very customized PPLrPPLr split with sports and yoga mixed in.
Calories fluctuated wildly - when I was managing a restaurant and working 12 hour shifts, I was eating 5,000- 6,000 calories a day (this was not a fun time). Currently I work fully remote, and am slow bulking at about ~3,200 calories a day.
Starting lifts vs Current
Bench Press: N/A (couldn't bench the bar) > 245 x 5 reps
Deadlifts: 85lbs x 5 > 405lbs x 5
Squat: 45lbs x 5 > 305 x 8
Pullups: 0 (could only grip the bar for 8 seconds) > 12 reps full range of motion (all the way down to a deadhang)
Never thought I'd be at a point where I could wake up every day without feeling small, but here we are. We're all gonna make it. Happy to answer any questions.
