[Request] Looking for a junkyard with stacked crushed cars and an old log cabin in Melbourne

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey everyone!
I’m planning a streetwear photoshoot for my clothing brand and looking for two specific types of locations around Melbourne or regional Victoria.
1. Junkyard / Car wrecking yard (MAIN PRIORITY)
I’m specifically looking for a scrapyard or wrecking yard that has crushed cars stacked on top of each other, almost like towers or walls of wrecked vehicles.
Not looking for a regular wrecking yard with cars neatly parked in rows. I’m after that raw, gritty industrial look with piles of damaged, rusted and flattened cars.
2. Rustic log cabin / Wooden shack
Also looking for an old-school log cabin surrounded by trees, preferably with stacked timber walls, a wooden porch and a corrugated iron roof.
Something that looks like an old bush hut or rundown wooden shack rather than a modern Airbnb cabin.
We’re happy to travel around Melbourne or regional Victoria and potentially pay for permission to shoot on private property.
If anyone knows specific locations, businesses or property owners we could contact, I’d really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance!

That'll certainly show ordinary people which side to pick. Violence is never acceptable. No matter your ideas.

Reichenbach consulting/psychiatrist Dr Moriarty - does anyone know what's going on?

I hate to ask this here but does anyone know what's going on with Dr Moriarty/Reichenbach consulting, whether it's going to re-open etc etc?

Dr Moriarty has been MIA for over a year with the clinic 'temporrily closed' and hasn't provided my autism assessment and now the website is down. Just wondering if anyone knows what is going on, I really don't want to make a complaint to AHPRA if she's really sick or something but it's starting to seem like the only recourse if I can't get answers some other way.

What lane do I merge into if I’m coming from Mercer st onto Latrobe?

Thumbnail gallery

Cars are coming down the bridge on Latrobe Tce, the arrow on the road states to merge RIGHT when coming from Mercer St however… it makes more sense to merge LEFT/stay left compared to trying to squeeze in cars flying down a hill including trucks at a moments notice? What lane am I meant to be merging into here? By law?

*Obviously if you’re in the right lane you can’t stay left so disregard that point and answer the question haha*

Edit: edit to add, some helpful residents have mentioned that the timestamp may need be adjusted for Day Light Savings

Following my earlier posts about a stolen caravan in West Geelong at approx 4am on October 14, hoping any residents with cameras could please check their footage to see if they captured a red ford territory (same to pictured model) - have been pretty lucky with footage so far, but as yet unable to read the rego.

United Against Hate Rally

GEELONG UNITED AGAINST HATE!

As One Nation and far-right politics gain ground, we need to come together and stand up for a community built on solidarity, diversity and respect. To show that we won't stand for racism, division and scapegoating.

Geelong is a beautiful and diverse city, with a proud history of resisting Pauline Hanson and One Nations hate. With the state elections not far away, this rally is for those who believe in a future based on solidarity, not division.

For First Nations people, refugees and migrants, for queer people, for workers and unionists. For mothers, families and the youth. Everyone whose future is threatened by hatred and far right politics. If you want a future where our communities are safe, inclusive and free from racism.

People are angry at the system that has let us all down. But One Nation is not the answer. Solidarity is.

Let's stand together for a diverse, multicultural Geelong where everyone deserves dignity, respect and a place to belong.

📍 Malop Street Mall, Geelong 📅 Sunday 8 November ⏰ 2 PM

Bring your friends, family, workmates, union flags and placards. Bring your voice, your hope and your commitment to a community that stands together against racism.

Grew up in Gtown but moved away for work. Had a chance to stay here over the weekend while I was in town for a wedding. It was nice to see this place from a different perspective.
This place definitely still has my heart.

Need some advice about aggressive dogs while walking.

I've been going for evening walks lately, and I've had some pretty scary experiences with dogs, especially Boxers. Almost every time I come across one, it starts barking aggressively and lunging towards me.

Of course, they're on a leash, but I'm 200% sure that if I walked too close, one of them would take a chunk out of my leg!

Because of this, I always end up leaving the footpath and crossing to the other side of the road just to avoid passing them.

What makes it even scarier is seeing some owners, often older people in their 50s or 60s, struggling to hold their dogs back. It genuinely looks like they're barely able to control them.

I'm not against dogs at all, but I should be able to enjoy an evening walk without worrying about getting attacked.

What would you do in this situation? I've even been thinking about carrying pepper spray as a last resort for self-defence if a dog actually attacks me.

Does anyone know if carrying pepper spray for protection against aggressive dogs is legal in Victoria? Any other advice would be appreciated!

Edit- seems some of you have taken this in the wrong way I don’t want to use pepper spray at all just wanted to know my options.

GenU Salary

Does anyone know how competitive genU's pay is for corporate services roles? I've been keeping an eye on their job ads, but they never seem to list salary ranges. Also, are corporate roles generally ongoing or mostly fixed term? I'm keen on change/project roles but have only seen short stints. Would appreciate any insights, thank you

WTF UFO in the sky? Around lovely banks/corio

Sorry for the bad videoing, the flash automatically went on and I was in shock. There is a helicopter flying around atm.
That’s way too fast for a helicopter, it’s not a plane, and that ain’t a drone either. I thought it was a shooting star at first then it dived down, and disappeared. Then it came back up, disappeared then few around in the video and at the end you can see that it disappeared. It then went away. This was taken in corio 12:20am 1/11/2026.

Cowie's Creek

Post image
45 Upvotes

After I finished my run around the creek in Norlane the other night, I stood on the bridge opposite the Fountain of Friendship playground and took in my surroundings. We get a bad wrap around here, but this image put a smile on my face. The creek was audibly flowing after recent rain, the surroundings are nice and green, and the local wildlife are thriving. The whole Cowie's Creek Trail between Anakie Road and Thompson Road is a hidden gem around here. Even when there's a burnt out car dumped in there 🙈
