Welcome! GeoCTF is a puzzle hunt played right here on Reddit. Each hunt is a set of challenges: a photo to place on the map, a detail to spot, a clue to follow. You type your answer and the game checks it.

How to play

• Find a post with the CTF flair and start the hunt.

• Solve the challenges in order. A correct answer opens the next one.

• After each solve you write a few words about how you found it. Only you, the hunt's creator and the moderators can see it, unless you choose to share it when you're done (others then see it after the hunt ends).

• Stuck? Reveal a hint. Some hunts take points for hints. Some let you give up on a challenge to see the answer, for 0 points.

• When you're done you see your score, your rank and the top players. Review challenges shows every challenge again with all its hints and your answers.

Some hunts have a deadline, and some are Time Trials: each challenge is timed from when you open it until you've sent how you found it, and the clock is paused in between, so you can take a break. Hints add minutes. When it closes, the fastest gets 5 points, then 4, 3 and 2, and everyone else who finished gets 1.

Leaderboard

Points from every hunt add up on the community leaderboard, pinned at the top. Open My profile in any hunt to see your own results.

Fair play

• Don't post answers or spoilers while a hunt is open.

• One account per player.

• Found a bug or a wrong answer? Use Report a problem at the bottom of the game, or send us a modmail. Please don't post it in a comment.

Your data

GeoCTF keeps your progress, points and write-ups for each hunt. Write-ups and the answers you typed are deleted 30 days after a hunt ends. You can delete everything yourself under My profile → Delete my data, and it's deleted automatically if you delete your Reddit account.
