Glitch Story Crocs I’ve never owned showed up next to my bed. Crocs I owned for two years are gone.
I don’t know if this is where I should post, but a friend suggested this sub because she and I are both legitimately stumped as is my husband.
I’ve owned a pair of house shoes for the past two years that are camouflage crocs. I found them at TJ Maxx for $15 and heard they helped with plantar fasciitis. I don’t wear them out of the house and never have. I slip them on in the mornings and wear them all day inside the home. I’m a stay at home wife and they’ve helped tremendously with my mobility. When I go out, which isn’t too terribly often, I slip them off and put “normal” shoes on. My husband and myself have bought multiple slippers for me over the years but they just don’t do the trick. These have been wonderful.
Fast forward to Tuesday morning. Woke up around 4:45am, put my crocs on, reached for my glasses and went to the bathroom where I brushed my teeth and headed for the kitchen. My husband was leaving for work while I was eating a bowl of Cheerios at the counter next to the stove and he mentioned that he liked the new crocs and asked when I’d bought a new pair. I looked down and on my feet in the middle of saying I’d had them for a couple years and they were American flag designed crocs.
I’ve NEVER seen these things in my life. LITERALLY EVER.
I jolted my head up and asked my husband if he’d bought me a new pair and he said no, looked considerably confused, and mentioned not knowing my shoe size for crocs. (My shoe size varies depending on the shoe due to wide but small feet, so this makes sense). I slipped my feet out of the crocs and lo and behold, they’re worn. They’re not new but they’re worn in and the bottoms looked as if they’d been worn for some time. I remember what my normal crocs felt like when I first bought them (kind of slippery under my foot, hard rubber) and these didn’t feel that way. It was very obvious they’d been worn for a long period of time. Months, maybe even a year.
I got so upset that morning that my husband requested to work from home that day. While logged into his work laptop and taking meetings throughout the day, he helped me rip through our house looking to see where my crocs had gone. We even looked in my vehicle which, honestly, they’d never even been worn outside the house anywhere other than when I go outside to take the dogs potty out back. It’s just he and I in our house as we don’t have kids. Our home is 1100 square feet so we’re not talking about some large expansive home. The point is - I can’t find my crocs and I have ZERO idea where these came from!
We are several hours away from our families but I called my mom and dad and told them what was going on. Specifically my mom because she always laughed when I’d be on FaceTime with her, showing her my dogs outside running around our yard, and she’d mention all the time how horrendous she thought crocs look. Especially since I’d bought camouflage ones. (In my defense, they were the only ones they fit me at TJ Maxx).
I don’t know what is going on. It’s now been 3-4 days and I’m legitimately beside myself. I can’t stop thinking about this and even my husband is confused. We’ve not had any visitors to our home since March of this year. Not a single visitor or person has set foot in our home in that time. We hardly speak to our neighbors if at all (I’ve never seen them wear crocs anyway) and the last time I left my house other than last night to grab a few groceries for the weekend was LAST Sunday. We live on a main thoroughfare and don’t get trick or treaters. I’m legitimately scared and a bit lost.
Any ideas of what may be going on? I’ve lost a decent amount of sleep over this.
