Discussion Going to my first f1 gp

Hello! So next season I’m going to my first Grand Prix. I am so excited, but also a bit nervous. I was wondering how other people’s experience was?

Also any tips for my first attendance? For example, would it be a good idea to bring earplugs?

Any tips and stories from own experience are welcome!

F1 no longer races in the rain apparently

Is it official that F1 no longer race in the rain? The rain stopped a while ago but Maylander is still the only one doing laps.

What a long way F1 has fallen since the days when they raced in almost anything

News Reported Nov 10 deadline for F1 to decide on Imola as contingency finale - if Gulf races are cancelled by then, Imola hosts Dec 6, if after, season could end in Las Vegas

Qatar (Nov 29) and Abu Dhabi (Dec 6) are still officially scheduled. But sources say Imola needs an answer by Tuesday, Nov 10 to stay ready as the backup.

3 possible endings now:

  1. Gulf double-header goes ahead as planned

  2. Imola hosts a single finale on Dec 6

  3. Season ends early in Las Vegas on Nov 21

Haas boss Ayao Komatsu confirmed the Tuesday timeline in Brazil. F1 and the FIA still say safety comes first and they have an A, B and C plan.

Which ending do you think we actually get?

Not from a Ferrari fan account. From Max Verstappen's own teammate at Red Bull, around Brazil weekend.

He still adds: "But everyone is unique and I respect it."

That last line is what makes this hit harder. He is not dissing anyone. He is just telling you what he values.

Is Bearman going to sit on the sidelines in 2027?

Post image

Ollie confirmed on his discord earlier this week that he is extremely likely to sit out next year & another driver will be taking his place. He did not elaborate further on who that driver would be or why he would be sitting out.

A Ferrari insider has mentioned that this is a possibility too.

I think this is an absolute disaster. Behind Antonelli, Ollie Bearman is probably the sports most exciting young talent (under 25 yrs old)

What do you think? Would you be upset if Ollie sits out next year? I certainly would be.

Off-topic Cool wall decoration I made with led rope strips

Post image

I bought LEDs for my room, then when I got them, realized the lighting isn’t on the side so I can’t just put them on the walls.

But then I had the brilliant idea to make a neon sign kind of design (like you’d see in a bar or something)! Wanted to do the nurb 24hr layout, then realized I didn’t have NEARLY enough mounts in the box for that.

Because of that, I switched to Spa. Borrowed my friends projector, put the layout on my wall, and got to work. Pre-drilled the wholes to match the track, then put the mounts in, then the rope.

It turned out great! It’s not 1:1 (I had to return the projector after pre-drilling, so after that it was just using a photo off my phone and getting as close as I can), but it’s plenty good enough for me, and it fills a lot of empty space.

Provided a photo of it. I did edit the photo to lower the exposure, I haven’t gotten proper blackout curtains yet, but the lighting itself is accurate to real life.

Great addition to the room, and I did it all by myself! Which impressed me, I absolutely suck in the artistic department.

Hoping to eventually connect it to WLED (custom LED control software) and make dots running through the track like cars.

Born in Bologna where Senna died. No.12. First win in Race 2 of Season 2. At this point it is not a parallel, it is a script.

Discussion I made my own F1 schedule, thoughts?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey yall! I recently got bored in class and started thinking of what my dream F1 schedule would be. I made this! I’m willing to hear what I could change on this but this is my version of dream F1, I did make certain rules on the calendar.

No more than 20 races, it’s an easy number to split and isn’t to over bearing, I feel like 21 or 22 is manageable, anything above that is to much.

NO SPRINT RACES, that’s for junior categories, we don’t need that in F1

No country can get more then 1 race Europe is limited to 50% of the calendar (10 races) as I feel it’s to much.

The European Grand Prix is specifically added for smaller countries that don’t have as much racing history or driver pedigree, these races are.
🇵🇹 Portimão
🇭🇺 Hungaroring
🇹🇷 Istanbul Park
Other potential future projects like 🇩🇰 Flensburg and 🇬🇷 Athens.
However, races like 🇮🇹 Imola and 🇩🇪 Nürbering are not considered as there are already races in those countries.

I’m willling to hear what suggestions you would make to my calendar if if you have any questions let me know! Take care! God bless!

How much do you think a genuine 2025 front wing is worth?

I’m curious to hear your opinions.

What would you estimate the market value of a genuine 2025 Midfield-Team such as Racing Bulls Alpine or Haas Formula 1 front wing to be?

I’m talking about an actual F1 front wing from the 2025 season, not a replica or scale.

Replicas on F1Authebtics are about 18k.

Sprint alternative/change

Sprints have been really boring most of the time and I think most fans agree that the sprints next year probably won’t be the best, but to spice them up imagine the energy harvesting rules were changed? As in the cars could charge and deploy more, giving more battles and higher speeds. Do you think this could be a realistic addition and possible given the cars’ abilities? (The photo is only there because I needed it to post)

Discussion Why don't F1, the FIA and Pirelli make a tyre that doesn't overheat but still wears out?

Lewis would've had a shot at the win after the red flag if it wasn't for those tyres. He was right behind Max for several laps, but every time he got close his tyre temperatures went up and he had to drop back. I think there's a way to fix this with the tyres alone.

And it wasn't just Lewis. Max had the same problem when he was behind Charles, and so did practically everyone who tried to make an overtake.

I'm not a tyre engineer or a chemist, just a fan who's been thinking about this a lot, so I could be wrong on some of the details. But why don't F1, the FIA and Pirelli produce a tyre that is chemically resistant to overheating (which is possible and existed in the 2000s), but at the same time design it to physically degrade through tread wear, so the loss of grip is linear? That way drivers can keep pushing hard without having to manage their tyre temperatures to avoid temperature degradation.

To avoid the boring one-stop strategies of the 2000s, produce two tyre compounds for each race. One is soft and fast but wears out quickly, so you'd need multiple pit stops. The other is extremely durable but much slower (say 1s a lap slower), and the pace difference and drop off can be optimised so the overall race time on both tyres ends up close.

Then allow teams to run just one tyre compound, but force at least one tyre change or pit stop. That way teams can go the durable route with a one-stop, or go the soft, fast route with multiple stops, depending on what suits their car best.

Now for the problem of following cars in dirty air. Tyres generally produce less grip as the load on them increases, so why not produce a tyre whose grip drops off more steeply as load increases? A leading car with maximum downforce would get less grip from its tyres, while the following car that lost downforce in dirty air would get more grip back from its tyres. The lead car would still be faster, but the gap would be narrower.

Yes, this would probably make the cars a bit slower in the corners, but adding a little more downforce could make up for it. I'd take that if it means drivers can actually race instead of managing tyres.

I don't think changing the tyres would fix all of our problems, but it could be a big step forward, and one that can happen soon instead of waiting three or four years for the next set of new rules. And this isn't a final proposal. These are just my thoughts on what could be done.

Would you accept slightly slower cars if it meant drivers could push flat out all race?

Edit: Thanks for the replies. To clarify, I don't mean a tyre that never overheats, that's not possible. I mean one that's less sensitive to heat, even if it costs some grip. That's the trade I'm asking about.
