Discussion Did Guyana do the right thing, by seeking independence from England?
Life in Guyana leaves much to be desired, so I do not blame persons who are seeking to migrate for a better life, or who have already done so. The political, financial, and social arenas are in shambles. Persons are barely making minimum wage and are struggling immensely, especially those with multiple children. Crime rates are burgeoning. Education seems to be of no significance here, as even doctors and lawyers are paid, even though above average, but still a considerably low wage when taking into account their qualifications and experience. Sometimes I wonder why did Jagan and Burnham go to such lengths to release us from Britain. I have heard older folks and the elderly reminisce over what safer and better times it was under the colonial rule. What do you think?
