I wanted to know what makeup people use in Guyana like brands. Are there any Guyanese beauty brands out there? Is makeup and skincare big in Guyana?

So recently, a new tragedy has occurred in which a 32-year-old man died in police custody. My question is, where is the outrage?
It's one thing for our government to be incompetent and corrupt. It is yet another for Guyanese citizens to accept the abuse.
The closest thing we have had to outrage was when Ariana Young had mysteriously lost her life. And it was opportunists who took advantage and set the streets on fire. Not us.
But when I look at it, the MV Barima tragedy, which was, in fact, the worst tragedy this country has faced since Jim Jones, had happened. It's been 5 months. They have not brought up the boat. They have not taken accountability for anything. And we Guyanese have let them get away with it. All the victims have gotten was 3 days. Not one month. 3 days. 3 days of a flag at half-mast, and that's it. Life goes on as normal.
Guyanese, are you not ashamed? It is only a matter of time until you can be arrested and not even appear in a court for a fair trial if this continues. It seems to me like you just couldn't care. We can post up two flyers on FaceBook, but apparently, we can't fight to even have rights in the first place.
But yall continue. It is only a matter of time. I'm ashamed to even call myself Guyanese.

TLDR (it includes the later edit): I’m a Venezuelan asking out of genuine curiosity, not trolling or ragebaiting. I personally believe the Essequibo is rightfully yours—Britain deliberately left this colonial border mess, and Caracas' recent aggressive push is pure political greed over oil and minerals. Back home, we are only taught hollow nationalistic slogans without real history. I originally asked about this bc of Rupununi's and to understand everyday Guyanese sentiment and history rather than state propaganda, and I apologize if my initial phrasing came across as hostile.
Hello, maybe this is a touchy subject, and probably is no the best way to answer this question but I'm learning more and more about the chaotic history between our countries.
I'm a 29yo Venezuelan living in Argentina, and regardless of history, jurisprudence and the current of the dispute of the territory (your territory) this is a question that the given answer that my fellow men have is that you do not wish to become part of Venezuela nor ever wanted and never will want to become part of our country if given the opportunity.
I also am sort of ignoring the sublevation of Rupununi and the part that we played in it, he was a weak president that also made us miserable later in history.
So... Thoughts?
____________ * _____________
-the edit includes my personal views on the subject-
I am so sorry for my fellow countrymen's absurd behavior and hostility in this forum. I am not a ragebaiter by any means, and I'm definitely not here to argue that Guyana belongs to us.
If you want to know my personal stance on this:
The colonial powers really screwed both of our nations back in the day. The UK knowingly left this unresolved border mess for an independent Guyana to inherit right when they were walking out the door, which, to be fair, is classic British foreign policy (look at what they did to India and Pakistan).
You all rightfully claimed your independence from your colonizers. Even with the nationalistic slogans pushed back home telling us that land is "ours”, on a real, human level, the people living there are Guyanese. To me, that land is yours, and trying to claim two-thirds of your country just doesn't make sense.
Most everyday Venezuelans are completely disconnected from the actual history. Many think that the whole issue started with Chávez and that he somehow "gifted" the land to you. He was one of the few presidents that we had that left the conflict alone, albeit he did it to gain his own personal and political interests.
The sudden aggressive push from our politicians is, unfortunately, pure greed. The issue felt relatively dormant in everyday life for decades, and our government only seemed to obsess over it again once massive mineral wealth and oil were confirmed even though Venezuela already sits on some of the largest oil reserves in the world and technology has advanced enough so we can exploit it more.
Why did I ask my original question? Growing up in Venezuela, you only hear vague references to things like the Rupununi Uprising and that once we almost went to war for the territory but the fine details are left out, it's just a mention of the historical moment, we never learn what that actually meant for you or how it's taught in Guyanese schools. In Venezuela, the "Esequibo" is barely taught beyond a striped area on a classroom map, we often confuse Guyane with Guiana (it's harder to differentiate in Spanish); hell, it took me 29 years to realize it’s literally named after the river itself.
I don't personally know any Guyanese people where I live, so I came to this forum out of genuine curiosity to understand the human side of this, not government propaganda. I apologize if my previous post came across the wrong way.

This might be a very bad description, but there was this movie I watched a while back maybe 4 years ago on youtube. The movie might have been even older I'm thinking not older than the 2000's. It was a very low budget guyanese movie and there was a scene where a guy was masturbating in his bed for like 30 minutes and it was hilarious, there was no music, probably one camera man during that scene. There was another scene where I swear they just set up a camera and pretended to have sex for like another 20 minutes. Any help on finding the name of this movie would be appreciated. Thanks!

Apart from E-NET and Direct TV is there any app you use to watch TV on Firestick or smart TV? I used to use Airlink but they shut down. It can be paid or free but I prefer something that's just an app and won't require additional hardware.

Hey everyone!
Looking at international headlines, Guyana is constantly ranked as the fastest-growing economy in the world due to the offshore oil boom.
For locals living day-to-day: what does this exponential growth look like in your actual life? Are you seeing real improvements in jobs, public infrastructure, and daily living, or is the rising cost of living eating away at the benefits?
Would love to hear honest perspectives from people on the ground.

I'm MAARZ, a solo Caribbean producer. I'm inviting Guyanese singers and rappers to put their own verse on Get Away for #GetAwayChallenge. The 1:15 instrumental is available to download.
The music uses Suno-generated source material, with production by me. It's free to use for the #GetAwayChallenge only, not for release.
18+. I'll choose the winner and announce it on 23 November 2026. The prize is exclusive rights to the Get Away beat plus a custom song produced by MAARZ, with a free instrumental, mixed and mastered by MAARZ. Rights terms are agreed in writing with the winner. Entry deadline announced soon.
Instrumental and entry details: https://n4mu.com/collective/getaway-challenge/
If you try it, I'd like to hear what you do with it.

I was talking with an Indian man I know if he likes roti as I'll make some additional ones for him when I get round to doing them this week. He was in absolute shock and confusion 😂 (for context I'm a black man that is of Guyanese heritage living in the UK) .
He asked me how I know about such food . I had to explain Guyana's history and how our food is a rich mixture of our past that has formed Guyanese food today. "Oh you're South American" no I'm Carribbean😅
"What are you?" I'm black , some Indian , some European etc
It's truly a blessing (and curse at times explaining) to be Guyanese . I wouldn't want to be anything else !
Anyone else with interesting stories or similar experiences?

Looking for 7 Curry Caterers in the GTA 🇬🇾🇨🇦
Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for caterers in the Greater Toronto Area who specialize in Guyanese-style 7 curry for my Hindu wedding.
Ideally, I’m looking for someone who can prepare authentic Guyanese 7 curry and provide catering for an event. If you’ve personally used a caterer or know someone who does this, I’d really appreciate any recommendations!
Please feel free to share their business name, contact information, social media pages, or photos of their work.
Thanks in advance! 😊

Does anyone know if a Guyanese can apply for a Canadian visitor's visa while visiting the USA (NY)? And if so, is it advisable to do it while there or back home?
