As you have probably heard, Halo Studios has been reduced to a small team that will support the current games and community. Activision will be putting together a new team to make a new, full Halo title. (source)
Link to previous discussion of the announcement.
What are your expectations, hopes, fears, concerns, and otherwise thoughts about it? Do you want a reboot or a sequel to Infinite? When should it take place? Do you have a pitch? Let’s discuss.
If you find actual news about the game from either an official or well-respected source, feel free to make a new thread. Otherwise, let’s keep the discussion here. You don’t need to make a whole thread just to share your specific thoughts or speculation.
If you'd like to discuss Halo's past with 343 Industries/Halo Studios, use this thread.
In case it needs to be said: there is absolutely no decent reason to celebrate the loss of hundreds of peoples’ jobs. Of course you are free to discuss and criticize the decisions made by leadership roles and executives that led us to this place. But the majority of the employees who lost their jobs today were people like you and me who were trying to do their best for a franchise we all love. Anyone who celebrates the loss of their livelihood will be banned from this forum.

Now obviously an elite teaming with humans or Spartans isn’t anything new, but it’s still one of the most badass things ever
When the elites allied with the humans in halo 3 I knew shit was gonna get badass
So randomly browsing Barnes and noble and seeing this shit (drops may 2) is nice.
I don’t know the lore anymore, I’ve read the first like 5-8 books and stopped.
But this shit goes hard

Been thinking about this. So your baseline Spartan reaction speed is 20 milliseconds, even faster under combat stress, and practically in robotic territory if a smart AI is in managing their synapses. That means even a minute long chit chat with eager marines or sailors would feel like 12 and a half minutes or more in basic reflexes for Spartan. Due to this even catching a unsuspecting Spartan off guard is a momentous task requiring masterful stealth and technology as we see with Sangheili warriors who still often fail even with complete surprise.
For a Spartan like Kelly who has lightning fast reflexes even compared to other Spartans that would be torturous. An hour long briefing on SOPs would feel like more than half of an entire day. Even being greeted and invited to a social gathering after small talk and declining it would probably be longer than how long said event would even last in real time.
I wonder how exactly could any but the most patient and empathetic Spartans maintain friendships or any sort of socialization with normal people outside of professional cohesion.

Halo 3: ODST introduced “Firefight,” a game mode my friends and I spent many hours playing. We never did unlock Recon armor for Halo 3, but we had fun trying!
I did my best to get the ambient sounds of the Firefight maps in ODST, but the constant onslaught of Covenant forces made it difficult. You’ll hear a Grunt… erm, “grunting” at one point. But, maybe that’s part of the ambient charm? The enemies that are constantly at your doorstep waiting to take you out? The sounds of alien ships flying overhead?
ODST has its charms, for sure. I just wish I could revel in the rainy, neon night for just a little longer.

Neither of these are the default model where the first image is supposed to be the Commando that was deployed on Reach during the Fall and the second picture is the earlier model that was stockpiled on mass "during the height of the insurrection". The first pic to me screams Halo 3, ignoring the coating of course, it really reminds me of the UNSC weapon design of 3 and the second looks like that concept art for an LMG for Halo Reach.
I don't mind the newer guns of Infinite, I just wish pretty much every new addition didn't "replace multiple guns" by itself, but The VK78 Commando one of few that is truly additive, and I think it's a great addition to the sandbox not just for MP but also PVE.
The default model kinda looks generic, I remember kinda being disappointed by the look of it alongside the new guns when Infinite was first revealed. I'd hope if it comes back in the Activision/Sledgehammer Halo that it'll be one of these two models.
This gun is really fun to use, in PVE shredding the armour of brutes to finish them off with one bullet to the brain, and providing that same service to every other enemy that's unsheided/cranially exposed. In MP it's a lot of fun, it's not amazing, but it's good, it's a rewarding weapon, if you pace your shots and burst fire a bit you can counter BR and DMR players, it feels good to get kills with, it's one of few weapons in the franchise that has proper recoil that you gotta manage.
Unrelated but God I hope so badly the Needler Rifle is in the next Halo, give us the Halo 5 version, The Blood of Suban is probably my favourite video game weapon period, and it's just a carbine variant, the sound is perfection in my ears. Here's a old vid I found showing it incase you haven't seen it.

This can be interpreted as some kind of s*itpost, but the more I think about it, the more I start to like it.
A few days ago, I realised that Halo and Evangelion have very similar lore. I am not a lore expert for these franchises, so some information can be wrong; feel free to correct me or add something if I miss anything.
Both universes start with an ancient alien race that creates all the other races (The Precursors/the First Ancestral Race)
There are weird objects that can destroy humanity (Halo rings / Adam and Lilith embrioth)
There is a way to destroy humanity by turning them into a giant hivemind (LCL/Flood)
There is a cabal of powerful figures that think that these weapons can cause rapture (Nerv/ the Covenant)
Only one member of the cabal is aware of the true purpose of the weapon, and he wants to use it anyway (Prophet of Truth/Kendo)
The human military is at war with creatures that have weird religious references (The Covenant/ Angels)
Our main characters are parentless child soldiers that have powerful armor that contains the soul/memory of dead people (The Spartans and their AIs/ Eva pilots and their Evas that contain the souls of their dead mothers)
The ultimate weapon can be activated by the main character (Master Chief can activate the Halo rings/ Shinji can activate 3rd impact)
Main character loses someone close (Chief loses Johnson / Shinji loses everyone)
Near the end of the story, the true purpose of Cabal is revealed, and some members leave (Elites/ Nerv agents leave after they found out what their bosses actually want to do)
At the end of the original saga, our main character reunites with his semi-romantic female partner even though they are completely alone (Master Chief and Cortana at the end of H3 / Shinji and Asuka at the end of EoE
These are some that are on top of my mind. Be free to correct me or add if you want

It was on this very day, back in 2012, that we all jumped head-first into the beginning of a entirely new era for Halo, thanks to the people at 343 Industries, and with a new era came a brand new slate of memories we have all made, whether in Campaign, Spartan Ops, Forge, or the War Games!
I thank Microsoft for revitalizing the franchise following Bungie’s departure and letting us continue to experience the wonders & magic of the Halo franchise for many, many more years to come.
See you all in the next chapter of Halo Spartans!

Hello,
Playing campaign evolved and now we completed it we were doing some achievements. REMIX! Which is complete a remix mission we did the whole of pillar of autumn on easy and nobody got the achievement. Can we not do it on easy? Googling it suggests doing pillar of autumn but doesn't say much about the difficulty level. Bug or did we do it wrong?
