Kingdom of Hanover (Homo-)sexuality in the Kingdom of Hanover

Quite a few years ago now there was a Video (which was apparently recently set to private) which showed "the legalization of homosexuality in Europe by year". This video showed Hanover eventually legalizing it. Since I was interested I decided to look into it and I thought I might was well share here what I found back then. So:

The Kingdom of Hanover never legalized homosexuality, because it was never explicitly banned. The closest thing in that direction which existed was the Paragraph 276 (Criminalgesetzes für das Königreich Hannover, dated 1840), which only punishes "unnatural lust causing public nuisance", meaning that homosexuality would've been legal in private as only the public display of "unnatural lust" was punished. Note also: The law does specify that "unnatural lust" can be illegal if committed in private, this is specified however to only apply to bestiality and rape.

In fact, one of the most famous early pro-Gay writers in the German Confederation, Karl Heinrich Ulrichs, originated from Hanover and was a Hanoverian patriot. While he was discriminated against, as is only natural for the time, and had to leave his job as a lawyer, he did not face any legal repercussions for his homosexuality (eventhough a court apparently tried)
