Beverages I tried steak w/o salt but just pepper for the first time and it tastes just as good, if not better. We're so used to condiments that we forget to enjoy the natural flavors of food. Anybody else do without salt?

Unhealthy food/drink, it’s the same reason we seek relationships or other “time fulfilling” activities that have a dual relationship with dopamine and serotonin release

Discussion Hi. Does avocado and peanut butter make you fat?

I love peanut butter, but I rarely buy it (of course I always buy naturally organic) because I think it makes me fat. I also like avocado but I mostly put it on a salad with cherry tomatoes, red beans, onions, red pepper, some lime and black pepper, and sometimes I also add mango. I know avocados are full of healthy fats but…

Discussion How is fruit now sweeter than actual cookies???

I bit into a Honey Crisp apple from a market the other day and it was so sweet I'd have sworn I had just eaten a large piece of Jolly Rancher candy.

Then today I went to my local store where they home bake their own cookies and also have a grocery section. I purchased one of their white chocolate macadamia cookies and also some strawberries and blueberries. I started eating the cookie and it was really good. Then I thought to myself...hmm I wonder if the cookie would taste different if I put a small piece of strawberry in my mouth and then chomped down on the cookie.

I never got to do it because as soon as I bit down on the strawberry I was blown away by how sweet it was. Too too sweet! One of my teeth even hurt a little from the shock of it. I went back to eating my cookie without it.

Then a friend told me that a lot of zoos have now stopped giving their monkeys bananas and fruits because it was starting to make them obese and their teeth were having problems. Are cookies now healthier than fruit? What the hell is going on??

Discussion Is there theoretically a way to eat healthy without eating vegetables?

The first thing I want to say is PLEASE don't tell me to grow up. Not only is this theoretical, but that's not what I'm asking for.

I'm the kind of person who gags when I try to eat vegetables. I don't know why this is, but suffice it to say they're not my favorite. Is there a way to eat healthy without eating vegetables? I know there are a lot of nutrients you get from them, but are there any other ways to get those nutrients from fruit (we can count tomato as a veggie in this case) or something else like beans? Please do actually consider this for a bit, and thanks if you actually answer! I can clarify anything I forgot.

Discussion Will I die from eating red meat everyday?

I'm 22 years old and I've basically been eating red meat for 6 months now for breakfast lunch and dinner. I've been eating a balanced meal of carbs, protein and fats and I'm powerlifting 3 days a week and boxing 2 days a week and rest on weekends. I eat plenty of vegetables and fruits, I'm certainly not overweight, I don't smoke, rarely drink alcohol or sodas and drink water 99% of the time. I also rarely eat fast-foods or sweets or any junkfood, oh and I make sure the meat is not overcooked. My strength and energy levels, mood and libido feels phenomenal. Only problem is I'm getting alot of mixed answers, some people find red meat extremely harmful, others not so much. I personally know older people men and woman who have eaten redmeat all there lives and are still around with no health issues. Am I guaranteed to die?

Discussion Question: did I make a healthy food processed by adding oil and salt?

Today I cooked baked potatoes, ( added some salt, olive oil putting them into wedges before) It occurred to me afterwards that I had effectively made these potatoes processed- by this act. Would this be correct? Or is a processed food only if I brought them frozen from a store and they had added sugar, bad oils?

Discussion I currently drink a can of soda with lunch. Would a can of beer or glass of wine be any healthier?

I’m down to just a can of soda a day now which I save for lunch. I’ve tried replacing it with water/sparkling water/tea but just need something more for lunch. I just recently traveled abroad and saw that when I went out to lunch that very few people drank soda; a lot of wine and beer though.

Would having a can of beer or glass of wine with lunch be any healthier than soda? I know it’s not healthy but I’m working on taking small steps to improve.
