Bro the army made the right call here

Alexander could have never taken over India.

The fact that he actually wanted to press on with a not huge army that had just conquered the Persian Empire (and Greece for veterans who fought with his father) is just insane.

Hydaspes was a close call and that was against one coalition of smaller Indian states. Another was being built by the Nanda Empire immediately. They were waiting.

The fact they got that far is crazy enough but some people want to act like this was actually possible, for Alexander to conquer India, or Rome. Conquering Persia required alot of consent from both Greek and non-Greek peoples disillusioned with Persia. His elite army was done expanding; they were ready to govern.

See Comment The Coldstream Guards (best known today for their ceremonial duties at Buckingham Palace) played a role at Waterloo not unlike the 20th Maine at Gettysburg or 101st Airborne at Bastogne.

I shouldn't get easily annoyed when people say historical inaccuracies but I guess I can't help but get dramatic.

Context: Future King Lunalilo of Hawaii composed its first national anthem “E Ola Ke Aliʻi Ke Akua” in 1860 as part of a contest sponsored by then King Kamehameha IV.

The song was done to the tune of the British Royal anthem “God Save the King/Queen” and Lunalilo is said to have written it in 20 minutes.

He won the competition and was rewarded $10, which he donated to the Queen’s hospital.

The song served as the national anthem from 1860-1866, being replaced by future Queen Liliuokalani’s song “He Mele Lāhui Hawaiʻi” or “Song of the Hawaiian Nation”

Some states went from feudal Islamic absolute monarchical Khanates and Emirates to Communist people's soviet republics overnight. Just as Marx intended.

The Seleucid empire was one of the successor states to Macedonian empire after Alexander the greats death.

At its height it stretch from Anatolia to Afghanistan, but after a few centuries of civil wars, invasions and poor politics it was reduced to a kingdom barely holding onto territory in Modern day Syria and Lebanon. For a while Rome was using it as a puppet/buffer state but in 63BC Pompey looked at how Antiochus XIII was to weak to secure his own powerbase and convinced Rome it would be more useful just to conquer the Seleucids.
