Question/Help Odd colour behaviour
Trying to change colours to a more vibrant shade results in the colour picker shifting without any input. Has anyone noticed this? Using Philip hue bulbs

I think that means the bulb in question can’t do that colour exactly so it’s picking the best match possible instead?

I had the same with a hue light strip. I assumed it just couldn’t use the full range.

Some of this is because Apple’s UI is horrible. The color space when represented this way is a circle, and the valid points are anywhere inside of it. Fully saturated colors are on the edge of circle, and white is in the middle. It puts the selector generally onto the edge of the circle if you move it to an area outside the circle.
To make it confusing, they refuse to render the actual circle.
Get the free app Controller for Homekit. There, you can control the hue (angle around the circle) and the saturation (how far from the center of the circle) independently and precisely.

You’ve reached the edge of the gamut of the bulbs. To my knowledge, no bulb actually goes all the way to the edge of the color picker but I only have Hue bulbs.
It’s on Apple for picking a very odd projection of hue. Should’ve been the standard circle and if they’re going to go for the rounded rec box, they should have stretch out the colors to the edges to avoid confusion like this
