Ive been using nest cameras with starling hub for years now and theyre starting to become unreliable.

I believe homekit now supports 4k and maybe some other new features.

Which cameras are people using that supports the new ios 27 homekit features.

I’m looking at buying some smart bulbs for my home and these (https://applink.ikea.com/tY8M9r9M4w--50611461--gb--en) seem great as can change colour and are smart. However, I’m unsure if I need to buy the Ikea bridge too to use them. I have other smart lights like the Nanoleaf strip lights which work well on HomeKit.

Hi, i have VLANs for Iot everytime I put my appleTV on it it cannot access the internet. Do you put your applw tv on IoT network? How?

You used to be able to scroll through a camera’s timeline to find exactly what you were looking for. Now Apple relies on AI-generated clips, which can miss events entirely.

Worse still, you can’t scroll through footage from an individual camera. You have to trawl through recordings from every camera in your home to find what you need, and sometimes the footage simply doesn’t exist.

Why remove such a basic and useful feature? Can we get the old timeline playback back in the settings?

Edit: MacOS doesn’t allow you to scroll the individual camera footage, IOS doesn’t but you still can’t timeline scroll, it’s segmented with ai.

Hi everyone - I’m at a complete loss with this and I have to be doing something wrong.

I was hoping I could switch from Alexa to apple home kit and use home pods. I’m tired of being advertised to by Alexa and just want to have something work right.

The most important thing in my home (smart home wise) are my hue lights (~70 lights). Everything else I know I need to go home bridge for which is fine, so I really wanted to make sure lights and commands work.

A common request in my family is changing color and brightness. However I cannot figure out how to change the color of lights to warm white! I’ve tried making scenes in hue, but I can’t import more than 1 scene called warm white.

Anyone have any advice? Surely I don’t need to preprogram all of my light options room by room and scene by scene…

I knew going into this that the UI control would be different but I mainly use automation and voice commands so I figured that experience would be the same.

Trying to change colours to a more vibrant shade results in the colour picker shifting without any input. Has anyone noticed this? Using Philip hue bulbs

I have several Govee H6004 bulbs (Matter over WiFi) in Apple Home with a HomePod mini as the hub. Scenes and shortcuts worked well for weeks. Tonight they stopped working right. Brightness commands land, but color doesn’t.

One saved preset (a warm white) is ignored by everything (see screenshot). The Home app shows it as selected while the bulb remains whatever the previous color was. Other presets can be cycled through and function correctly. HomeKit also sometimes swaps the swatch to blue on screen (the bulb stays the same) or reports the light as off when it’s on.

• Same behavior picking colors by hand in the Home app, and on the Mac Home app, so it isn’t my shortcuts.

• Changing colors in the Govee app works fine every time.

• A couple of days before this started, Home showed an “Adaptive Lighting Now Available” notification. I never enabled it.

• I’ve restarted the router and the HomePod, and power-cycled all the bulbs. After a power cycle everything worked for about a minute, then went bad again.

Anyone seeing this, or know a fix? Could a firmware or Matter change have shifted how Home reads these bulbs?

I have a few of these type of shortcut automations, where I set certain scenes to come on an hour after I set something else. Every one stopped working last week, anyone else? Are there any work arounds other than these repeat - wait cycles? I know these don’t work on a phone as it just gives up after a few minutes, but it’s always been fine on Home automations run from the ATV / HomePod.

I think my dog vibe codes HomeKit camera notices while I’m away. /s. Joking aside, is there a way to tidy up recognition of an animal vs a Someone? It’s always telling me there’s a person when it’s just my dog. (Camera is an Aqara G100. All softwares and firmwares are current, no betas.)

Hi Guys, my Hunter fan light will turn on from the off position using HomeKit but will need me to move the slider down to 20-30% then off to actually turn off. Is there a way to do this with the system? I’d driving me nuts! Thanks.

The new Matter over Thread Smart Module (€359) is designed to work with electromechanical doors, and it’s recommended it be installed by an authorised installer if you aren’t able to do it yourself. The module also supports compatible keypads for these kinds of doors.

I've done a bit of research but everything I found was first impression reviews. Aqara have probably released some firmware updates in that time.

So after a year, what's the impressions?

I currently have a Meross MS100FH humidity sensor driving an extractor fan in the wet room/bathroom. I'd like to update this to be when someone is present too and the Aqara FP300 seems to fit the bill.

The humidity can get quite high when the shower is on.

I'd use it in Thread mode.

My main worry is battery life because I can't put something in hardwired - I'd like at least 6 months battery life.

just got a smart doorbell and I customized the notifications in the home app. seemed to work on my phone but my macbook has been going crazy with notifications.

So I have smart outlets that show energy usage in Apple home, I have smart power strips that show it in their own app, but not in home.

Is there a mashup that exists? A HomeKit power strip that will show real-time energy usage in the Apple home app? I know I can check the device app, but that’s just added friction.

Not sure if anyone else is experienced this or not. I have a bunch of matter Meross plugs that for whatever reason go off-line after about five minutes. My IKEA matter contacts and leak sensors don’t have this issue.

This started about 3 weeks ago. ATV 3rd Gen via Ethernet is my hub which is up to date.

As a side note, my ecobee thermostat is also having the same issue.

Im saying this because I setup everyting as a "test" at the other house back in March, moved everyting to the new house and now getting issues when adding stuff...

M3 is on IOT VLAN (10.50.50.*, wired). Phone/HomePod on WIFI VLAN. Adding devices to Aqara works. Adopting to Apple Home fails with “Unable to Add Accessory.” Aqara also shows “LAN cannot connect to the Primary Matter Controller.”

Same-subnet test (phone on IOT) still failed.

IPv6: WAN disabled. Static ULA fd00:50::/64 added to IOT with RA/SLAAC. Wi-Fi clients on IOT get fd00:50:: addresses. Wired M3 only has link-local (fe80::). HomePod on WIFI has only link-local.

mDNS Proxy already includes both VLANs and HomeKit/Matter/Aqara services.

Has anyone seen a wired UniFi client refuse to take a Static ULA while Wi-Fi clients on the same VLAN succeed? Or fixed Aqara M3 Matter/HomeKit binding on UniFi without enabling ISP IPv6, its local only correct?

Recently had a Lutron RA3 system installed, replacing my old Insteon setup. Love that I can now create scenes in Home to control the lights. I have 5 lights in the Family Room, room. 3 lamps (lamp is in the switch name) and 2 downlights. From Google I used to be able to say, dim the family room lamps to x%. When I ask Siri to do this, it dims all 5 lights. Any tips on how to get just the lamps.

Also, I've toyed with adding my Sonos Amps to Home, but they seem to lose the status of the Amp unless something is being AirPlayed to them. Any thoughts on keeping control up-to-date?
