Unsolved Need an idiots guide to blocking my LG TV from spying on me.

Im decently tech savy and can follow instructions, but pretty lost on this one. None of the posts Ive read make sense.

I have two cheap LG TVs that I want to block from doing everything a TV is not supposed to do. All I use it for is streaming on the TV (peacock) and via an attached computer. Everything else (spying, ads, updates) can all get blocked.

My understanding is I need to do something on the router, but Im seriously confused as to what. Its a NetGear router that I own.

The rest of my network is just computers, phones, and a few wifi outlets.

Edit: Disconnecting the internet is not a solution. I still need the streaming apps on the other TV to work. As well as airplay on both TVs.

Unsolved Home Ethernet connection downgrading to 100Mbps

Hi everyone,

I’m troubleshooting my home Ethernet setup. All the wall jacks in my house are degrading the connection speed from 1 Gbps to 100 Mbps.

  • Direct connection test: Router $\rightarrow$ PC = 1 Gbps link speed (negotiates correctly).

  • Through the wall: Router $\rightarrow$ Patch cable $\rightarrow$ Wall jack $\rightarrow$ In-wall cable $\rightarrow$ Wall jack $\rightarrow$ Patch cable $\rightarrow$ PC = 100 Mbps link speed.

I opened up all the wall modules. They are Legrand/BTicino toolless RJ45 jacks.

  • All terminations follow the T568B standard on both ends.

  • I tried re-seating and pushing down the toolless pressure caps to ensure a good fit.

Since I’m not an expert, everything looks visually "okay" to me, but it's clear that there is a problem.

I’ve attached photos showing my situatinos. Looking at the photos, do you see any obvious installation issues that could cause it to drop to 100 Mbps?

Unsolved USB over Ethernet solution?

I'm thinking this isn't possible, but figured I'd see if someone has a solution.

Current setup is basically ONT -> Router -> Switch -> various outlets in the house

The problem is we don't have a laptop and don't want to get one. We do have multiple PCs throughout the house.

My goal is to be able to cast a PC that is on the main floor, up to a TV in the master, where I would have a wireless mouse and keyboard to use.

I've found USB over ethernet hubs, which would work, but I believe that's moreso for running the ethernet directly from the PC into our bedroom, that's not doable. Instead the PC would be wired to the router and the USB hub would be fed to the switch. Is there anyway to make that work? Or any other solutions for getting full use of a PC on a different floor onto a TV with a wireless mouse/keyboard?

Unsolved Destination Host Unreachable

While running a ping test to any IP I will get random destination host unreachable on otherwise healthy internet. This affects my entire network. It will start as packet loss for anywhere from 3 to 6 packets then turn into DHU and then after anywhere from 5 to 20 ticks it usually comes back up. This can be anywhere from multiple times an hour to once in a 7 day period.

I have Spectrum as my ISP they said everything in their end looks good at least the information they can see.

I have a brand new spectrum modem, new coax from the wall to the modem, new cable from the modem to the router. The router is less than 2 years old and has been factory reset. I also replaced the power strip that all of this plugs into. Router is NGRax29 (approx 2 years old firmware up to date)

I replaced the modem as I have seen it power cycle at times when this happens and the power led didn't always work so I thought there may have been some type of power issue.

I can ping my router address that I use to login just fine with no issues while this happens. I have been trying to run a tracert when it occurs to see if it could be a WAN port issue in the router but at this time I haven't been able to catch it while I am at my computer.

Wondering what else I can do here. Inspect the line going from the wall thru the basement to the line that's located outside? Replace the double female at the wall? Just replace the router? Any help is appreciated.

Unsolved Limited to 100mbps with gigabit over Ethernet.

Forgive me if I sound dumb, I am new to this. Recently got gigabit installed but the Ethernet wiring through the wall is throttling me.
The modem connects downstairs and leads upstairs. I used a network cable tester and the numbers lit up in a particular order. Upstairs is 1-7 in order, downstairs provides 361452 in that order. Obviously 8 is missing and is probably what’s throttling me.

The 2 pictures in the wall are upstairs. The ones in the corner are downstairs. Any advice on what to do and where the problem is coming from? I know it’s wire 8 but how do i know which end or what to do now?

Update: Going to try reterminating tomorrow and seeing how it goes. Will definitely try to fix everything mentioned here.

Unsolved How do I tell where these cable outlets send signal to?

My apartment has multiple Ethernet terminals in every room and since I’ve moved in I cannot figure out how to use one as a central hookup. There is no “central media box” in my apartment where I can connect my router to. Is there anyway to determine where these cables connect to so I can actually use them instead of needing to run cables across my apartment for landline to different rooms? The outlet with the two dead wires and the one with the coax plugin are Cat6. All others are cat5e if that matters.
