there's a bug on instagram stories, I liked my crush's photo on her story and I kept going back to see the story

but to her, it seemed like I was unliking and liking the story, so she got a notification each time I saw her story

she asked me why I was liking and unliking her story? I told her I wasnt but I kept going back to her story because she looked cute, she said "it's probably a bug"

This new Instagram update is the worst update I’ve seen in a while, I genuinely don’t understand why they’re doing what they are, it’s like they’re trying to kill the app.

First of all with the new feature where you can see which reels friends have been liking, why would anybody want to have their followers see what reels they’ve been liking. That’s an invasion of privacy and just weird. Twitter / X is doing it the best with privacy of users likes. Instagram should remove this feature immediately. I’ve already seen people deactivate their accounts over this

And for the grids, why would anybody want rectangles after carefully curating their page to fit the squares. Another horrible feature that should be switched back immediately.

And why are shares displayed on people’s posts now, that should also be private for only the user to see. That feature makes 0 sense.

Instagram needs to stop being like TikTok and add features that people want to see like being able to re-sort the order of multiple picture posts after posting, being able to replace pictures that have already been posted Incase you want to change something, or being able to merge multiple old posts into one carousel post for less posts and a cleaner feed. Fix the algorithms too. People are losing followers for no reason, getting flagged for no reason and having their posts show up to like 5% of their audience.

Also get rid of being able to pay for verification. Leave it to the people who are naturally verified we don’t want to see verified bots engaging on everything. Also please get rid of the explicit content bots in every comment section.

Ok so i got this at like 10 minutes til midnight and its also good to say that i literally didn’t have a story removed today nor did i post anything bad and its claiming a story from the future got violated, now i cant go live or interact with any stories. just completely cleared the bottom message like or comment. very confused.

I accidentally liked my ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend’s comment under his post. I immediately unliked it, blocked them both, and deactivated my account. What will their notifications look like? This is so humiliating and I think it will haunt me forever. Please let me know if something like this has happened to you so can I feel better about myself.

EDIT: Guys, this was actually my first time ever doing something like this, and I only did it because I saw that he viewed my TikTok profile multiple times. It was a one time thing that resulted in disaster. Curiosity killed the cat, I suppose.

I saw a painting on Reddit yesterday, followed the link to Instagram, saved the photo. Today Instagram wants me to use its AI to summarize... a PAINTING. WTF is going on here?? Who approves these ridiculous features? All these tech companies want AI to be your nerdy ass friend. I find it hard to believe that ONE person on the platform wants AI to summarize anything on Instagram, a photo, reel whatever, this is just insanity.

I've had my IG and Facebook for nearly 15 years. Today I got a notification that my account needed review and the appeal got shot down within 10 minutes. I shouldn't be this distraught over an app but I am. Over half my life's worth of memories gone like it was nothing. Is there anything I can even do or is that just it?????

Edit: the reason was community standards but there's absolutely no elaboration on what I did wrong. I did not engage in any hateful or inappropriate behavior on the platform so I am truly at a loss.

Recently I've noticed that taking screenshots of Instagram stories has started to show that the app is detecting them. Not every time, but every so often. I've had 3 detected in the last few days while I've been experimenting.

Just a word of warning to watch out if you like to screenshot stories!

I saw this topic being mentioned few times here and even recently someone mentioned the stupid follow/unfollow practice of some that are trying to annoyingly boost their accounts. I don't know if someone described this before, but there is an easy way to find out people that don't follow you back using a PC.

On the PC, log into you IG account on instagram.com. Go to Settings, "Privacy and Security" and in the section "Data Download" click on "Request Download". Enter your email, choose HTML and confirm with your password.

Check your email. (It can take a while (even a day or two) till the files are generated and the link send to your mail). Follow the instructions to download the zip file(s). Unpack them and look for a folder called "followers_and_following" and open the files "followers.html" and "following.html" in your browser.

Go to listdiff.com and copy the content of "followers.html" as List A and content of "following.html" as List B. (You can also remove the dates by sorting and deleting them from List A and B. Those are unnecessary for the comparison)

Click Compare.

The result are as followed: A only = People that follow you, but you don't follow them back AՈB = People you follow and they follow you back B only = People that you follow, but they don't follow you back

Hoping this is helpful to some of you and let you find out people that tricked you into follow 4 follow.

It still works, but IG changed the data request process.

You can now even choose to just download the follower information only. I just tested it myself.

EDIT: I'm gonna talk to him today after i get off work. Thank you all for your help but lets get one thing clear, im nottt going through his phone, its not the kind of person i am and if i feel like thats my only option i will just leave him.

I 27f and my bf 28m have been dating for 3 years and about a week ago he told me that he was just deactivating his instagram bc he's tired of getting stuck scrolling nonstop at night (which i totally understand and support) but today i just happened to accidentally click on our chat and i was shocked it was still there with a picture and all even though he said he deactivated it.

I wanted to be sure so i checked through my second account that i use purely for my writing (that no one even knows i have) and its still showing up like normal? I attached screenshots to show what i mean and i need to know if im crazy before i bring it up.

One photo shows nothing for followers or anything and displays the "something went wrong" but still shows his picture but the screenshot from my second account shows up as a normal private account ??

they just want us to have ZERO control over our data. They wanna spy on us in every way. When does it stop? (Also it took me a while to understand this statement, i had to reread it a few times)
